Calling El Chapo "just a pawn" is disingenuous and marginalizes his status in the cartel. If he was "just a pawn," I don't think he would've been helped to escape TWICE. And I can't see the organization jumping in to action to keep his son from getting arrested for someone who was "just a pawn."

It’s ridiculous to call him a pawn, could say everyone in the drug game is a pawn really I suppose if we are looking at it that way. The guy is probably rightly scared of El Chapo though and so doesn’t want to say anything bad about him. I’ve watched a few interviews from him and he never goes into details on anything and doesn’t really provide any insights.

They said the same thing about Pablo. That it was the Ochoa brothers that really had the power. But he wouldn’t be known as one of the richest men in the world at the time for nothing. Sinaloa has a HUGE hub here in Chicago. That’s how the Flores twins turned on Chapo. The government goes along with what the cartel does. Why do you think our borders aren’t secure and it’s just a revolving door with what drugs come into this country.

@@Matt_Wilson01 I don’t believe that. Chapo literally founded C.D.S with El Mayo. El Mayo and El Chapo both ran the cartel like the Arellano twins. In the world of Drug the best thing that every drug lord wants is fame and power to think people wouldn’t know who the real boss is, is crazy. El chapo is the boss and el Mayo is right up there, but el mayo does not get bossed by el chapo because they both founded it, just that El chapo makes most plays. There like the Arellano twins

If anyone gets a chance listen to the spotty podcast about the twins that worked with Sinaloa cartel and flipped on them. They were the cartels drug distributors and basically ranked number 2 in the entire cartel. They talk about el chapo not as a pawn but as one of 3 people who ran the cartel with total and all control. ED is retired as he mentioned years ago in joe Rogans podcast he’s great but at this point he’s just repeating old talking points and adding new things to stay relevant

Everyone that actually knows anything about this game is that there is a lot of major players. Some more idolized than other and many that don’t want to be known. He was no small fry I tell you that. 2 escapes, when they arrested his sons they turned the town into a blood bath and forced the military into basically releasing the son. Small fries don’t make trained military and police groups stand down. Mayo is always been known as a Boss. Almost all cartels work as federations they can’t survive just based of the numbers they have locally. CNGJ has a broad control in Mexico allying with other groups under the same 4 Letter Umbrella. Same goes for Sinaloa, Los Zetas and etc. You don’t push product if you don’t push boundaries and territory’s.
@frankruiz8219

Thank Joe Rogan for this "expert" getting another interview on KZbin. This guy is full of crap. The author of the book is Anabel Hernandez not Ochoa. Mayos son Vicente who was extradited here to the US in 2009 and jailed without sentencing until chapos trial for which his testimony that was so "crucial" in the conviction of the the world's most famous trafficker got him a minimum sentence of 10 years which he had already served being jailed since 2009. The host is oblivious to think his father would want him dead. It cost him the better part of a billion with a B to keep his son safe for a decade. Chapo was nobody's pawn he was a trafficker that built a great network between the late 80s and now. His downfall was his popularity but nobody planned for his demise it's just how things went. Corruption in America does exist anyone with half a brain and a brief history of the Zambadas would have realized that having Vicente Zambada in custody would deal a great blow to cartel instead they hand him back knowing that he will become a bigger trafficker than Chapo did. So either you believe conspiracies that the US has a plan to track him and possibly lead to his father's arrest, or what sounds the most likely that mayo did pay a lot of officials almost a billion to keep his son safe for him to one-day return home. All you have to do is listen carefully to the music... Within a year of Vicente's arrest there was a song made about El mayo saying that even though they took his son the story was not over and he was working hard on bringing him back. Few years later another song for mayo the closing lyrics state he has the strategy for his return. Another song made for his brother mayito Gordo where mayito send greetings to his two bros in jail in the US that soon they would all be together again and there isn't a judge who doesn't have a fortune to brag about.

Ed Calderon is NOT a cartel expert idk why these podcasts keep booking him. He just regurgitates what everyone in Mexico already knows. Was he a cop in Mexico yes but that was 20 years ago. It's like asking the cops who arrested the main Cosa Nostra figures in the 80s and 90s about the current Italian Mafia today. This dude just talks and talks.

They want the views and by Mayo never stepping foot in jail comes the speculations. Mayo & Chapo were business partners, there’s even a voice recording were he calls him my partner (Socio) not my boss. Chapo was known because that was his character and Mayo was always in the shadows so to speak because Mayo and chapo had big parties in Culiacán even had songs made for them but you know who really is in the shadows and doesn’t allow songs to mention his name and y’all may already heard from him in Narcos it’s el Azul now that guy is a ghost.

@@blakejones4222 he supposedly died under suspicious circumstances and the body was gone. I’ve read so many stories I start to get them mixed up. I think it’s the same Azul they had in the Narcos show but I doubt he died as they betrayed it

Huh? This guy is known in Mexico, he was a police for the cartel. You’re not involved in Mexican culture most likely in America and u get ur image of the cartel from social media…. El Chapo learned his stuff in LA came to Mexico and was used as bait, the “cartel” don’t call themselves cartel members that was branded by the American federation. Almost to all Mexican traders use El Chapo as a blueprint NOT TO FOLLOW, they love being in the shadow and living like a king…. Remember American culture loves dumb criminals who sing and show the world they are criminals
