Siempre he admirado la dedicación y pasión de Aaron Peirsol por la natación. En 2004, fue testigo de cómo encontró la perfección en los 200 metros espalda, su evento favorito, en los Juegos Olímpicos de Atenas. A pesar de ganar con un margen impresionante y establecer un récord olímpico, Peirsol fue descalificado por un oficial debido a una regla ambigua sobre el viraje. La multitud abucheó y silbó al oficial, ya que la decisión parecía injusta. La forma en que Peirsol manejó esa situación y su actitud hacia la natación son verdaderamente inspiradoras, y me siento afortunado de haber podido contar su historia.

According to the current FINA rules (SW 6.4 and SW 6.5):
SW 6.4: "When executing the turn, the swimmer must touch the wall with some part of the body in his/her respective lane. During the turn, the shoulders may be turned over the vertical to the breast after which an immediate continuous single arm pull or immediate continuous simultaneous double arm pull may be used to initiate the turn. The swimmer must have returned to the position on the back upon leaving the wall."
SW 6.5: "Upon the finish of the race, the swimmer must touch the wall while on the back in his/her respective lane."
