@@emberfist8347 while I understand where you’re coming from. You have to remember that El Salvador isnt a fully developed country. This is a problem that has been plaguing them for a long time, and its in their best interest to deal with this instead of making their people suffer longer. That way they can focus on keeping their people from leaving and coming illegally to other countries.

I’m American, but both of my parents were born in El Salvador and immigrated here due to you guessed it, the gangs. They’ve told me horrible stories about them. For example, my dad had a cousin who was m*tilated just because he refused to give the gang his money. His remains were found on the side of the road in a trash bag. Because of stories like this, I thought I’d never be going to El Salvador. But recently ever since Bukele became president, the country had become extremely safe and you can go to many places now that the gang used to occupy. My parents recently took me a week ago, and I loved it! It was a really fun trip, and I’d recommend this underrated country to anyone reading this. El Salvador has truly changed for the better because of Bukele. Peace from an American teenager who is proud of her Salvadoran heritage.

Also, American interference in Central and South America has has tended to only make criminal elements stronger. Woke people have a point when they mention how the US interference had exacerbated these issues. Woke folx say there should be no limits to immigration but how comfortable will they be with cartels in their neighborhoods. Obviously not all immigrants are criminals but already cartels from Mexico have a huge presence in Southern California. Woke folx will probably stay quiet about it and just quietly crap their pants when these issues arrive in their neighbourhood

Yeah, most of the American population, who grew up in the hardcore ghettos of white suburbs, get their ideas of gang life from the glamorization of the lifestyle from rap music. The horrors of the human imagination sunk deep in evil is something they've never been exposed to. I too have never been personally exposed or witnessed it but that's by design, for you see with a tiniest speck of wisdom and logic I know to steer clear of that shit. I guess I ain't "hard" but I'm also alive and not always looking over my shoulder. I can get my fill of that life from understanding human nature as well as watching my own government and media do things like virtually ignore black on black crime in metro cities like Chicago.

The cartel and ms 13 could've been found and taken out long ago by special forces and so on. For some reason the American government want them alive and well to keep crossing the borders as well as ms 13 stay in America. Well, I think we all have a good idea as to why they do nothing. They push their drugs plus do their other corrupt work. The American government is as corrupt as they are. Immigrants risk their lives to escape that shit not knowing parts of government are involved.

Fast forward to 2015 and I encountered a family who left under horrible circumstances as well. Truly horrendous. The violence, you just could not imagine. So I’m glad for the families who got out and even more thankful that their president is doing something for the people. This is saving lives. Mostly about the crime rate and gang violence and how bad this is for the population and I felt sorry for the 99% of the friendly and hard working people I met on my way thru. I hope the best for the country and the people. From what I see from far away this leader did the only thing you could do to stop this mess. To critisize from outside El Salvador is insane. After the initial declarations of a state of emergency he accomplished his goal and crime dropped almost overnight seemingly, but after the feat his party is still renewing the SOE. Why??? And not only that he's trying to get the constitution changed so that he can run for president again after already serving the aloud amount of terms.

He use to warn me that just getting into an argument with someone at a bus stop might end with you dead but now he says it's so much safer he even wants me to go down there and visit. Do not forgot that many things were not considered crimes during that time. There was no domestic violence or child abuse. Taking domestic violence and child abuse out of the equation is comparing apples to oranges. Same principle as reducing crime sentencing will skew the numbers of crime in an area. Changing sentencing guidelines is commonly used before voting to make incumbents records look better. I think the first real child protection laws came about in the 60's. I was born in 63, and the general attitude was to mind your own business. Child abuse had to be pretty extreme for a community to ask for enforcement.........and it also prompted more laws on the duty to report, because children died at the hands of abusive parents in spite of support structures knowing it was happening. Just saying that when using historical examples, sometimes there are factors that need to be considered before coming to a decision.

@@jodihouts6032 Not really true, domestic violence certainly was a thing in the 1930s, but even discounting domestic violence, every other kind of crime was also lower during the Great Depression than it is now. About the only kind of crime that was higher then was school shootings, but you wouldn't know that from the hand wringing by the media.
@jodihouts6032

@@anonygent The first child abuse reporting statutes were explored at a national conference sponsored by the fed dept of health, fed dept of education and the children's bureau in 1962. All other laws previous to this were all about child labor except for the outlier of Mary Bell which happened in the 1800's, but did not result in child protection laws for parental neglect or abuse. The child abuse prevention and treatment act didn't pass until 1974. I lived through these times. With all due respect, I think you are confusing domestic violence laws with child rights laws. Child's rights began with focus on working and education, and the discipline or abuse was considered a private families business. Of course people and local and governmental agencies would prosecute a child's death, but it was in the same context of murdering a stranger. Murder was illegal then too whether the victim was a child or adult, but many victims didn't get the help they needed when the family could cover up the death as an unfortunate accident. I was surprised in my research that the impetus in 1840 for day nurseries was partly to " prevent young children from suicidal acts from thinking of being unloved". Source is from "The Early Childhood enterprise: Care and education of the young", American Psychologist 41. p 1140.
