Mr. LB, you are invited whenever you like to visit the American West. I cant pay to get you out here, but once arrived, you'll have a comfortable bed (while in my mountain outpost home, anyhow, once on the road I can't make any promises); transportation to wherever youd like to go between Canada and Mexico west of the Rockies and east of the Sierra Nevada; and of course, all the chow you can eat. We dont have a lost bat city, or 12 species of snake that will kill you, nor monkeys, spider or otherwise. But we do have the most incredible red rock country in the world, loads of Native American archeological sites and pictographs, actual Native Americans, and all manner of other natural wonders that usually fascinate and appall European visitors. The Great Western Basin is an arid steppe that seems to go on forever, and while there is only one kind of deadly snake, there are plenty of other excruciating ways this place will kill you. Short of the open sea or the poles, I'd venture to say theres no deadlier an environment than a desert. But beautiful. So just drop a line if you're moseyin' through and I'll put you up and give you the grand tour. Of the Grand Canyons if, you like. And I'd love to get your thoughts on the Mountain Meadows Massacre site.

Lindybeige, first of all YES PLEASE :D amazing video Some feedback: Because (as mentioned in the video description) this is the first video of a series it might be good to introduce us a bit instead of just going at it full blast. Don't get me wrong, this is still more than good. I think it might work well to firstly tell us a bit of what the series is going to be about, where, what people and culture, in what period of time, what kind of buildings/ruins/area's we can expect. 1. The map bit at the beginning was great, more of that please. Why not do a similar kind of thing to the time period. For example, a timeline would be usefull to us scrubbs who don't know as much history as you do. When were the Maya people at their peak, when were the temples seen in this video built ,when did the first Europeans visit those lands, when were they discovered again. Showing a timeline can tell so much more and make it a lot more interesting. 2. As for the location, the map was good. But if possible it would be great to have a layout of the historical places. You mentioned temple 1, temple 4, El Zotz. By showing a map it makes it very clear what we are looking at while you tell us the story. Maps of these locations can simply be found on the internet . If copyrighted images are a problem, they probably have a map on the site itself, that should be free to use. 3. INQUAT, the Guatemalan department of tourism. In the description you mention they paid for the flights, accommodation, and activities. If they paid for some of it, maybe tell us some more about them and what they wanted out of it. 4. Showing the temples Lindyana Jones style, GREAT. I can imagine this would be too expensive or not allowed, but drone video footage? Would be great if you could get somebody to film from the sky while you go at it yourself. Or 360 camera? Are there some 3D models available of these temples? Do they know how it could have looked like when the Mayan people were still around? What is the plan for these buildings, will they remain overgrown or will they be uncovered? 5. Funky Funghi and 'spied a spider-monkey'. Reminds me of some earlier video with incredibly funny voices you did. 6. I somewhat expected a batman joke. Hope you don't see this as criticism. I love your content and it is already great because you have your own style. If you consider any of my suggestions, please know that your own style is more important. I'm looking forward to the future videos of this series.
@JeremyLawrence-imajez5 жыл бұрын
Drones are [sensibly] getting more and more restricted re their usage. They are potentially quite dangerous, hence why you need a license and pass test for a lot of uses now. At Tikal the place seen in the far distance, a tourist was nearly taken out by one falling out of the sky, so I believe they are verboten there now.
@lindybeige5 жыл бұрын
1. The information will be scattered across many videos. Repeating it in every one would rapidly beciome tiresome for those watching them as a series later. 2. There will be some maps. Copyright is a problem, particularly with maps because the information on them is property as well as the particular presentation of them. Not everywhere has published maps. 3. They paid for the trip, in the reasonable expectation that I would make the videos. They organised trips and guides to ensure that I got good footage. 4. Drones are illegal in a lot of places, and can take a lot of time to use, and make a loud noise. If you are there, you don't see it from the sky, so drone footage pops the immersion of being-there. 5. Yup. 6. Sorry.
@Killercreek5 жыл бұрын
@@lindybeige What would be your recommendation for a normal person who would like to see these places? I've been to Tikal, and Coba, and a few other smaller locations, but that's always been through a third party tour service and costs... more than it probably should. @@the_rover1 Economically, We're kinda decent. Politically: corruption dumpster fire, it's terrible in that aspect. Security: Hot garbage as well, (at least in the capital) you can get mugged during traffic jams (rare~ish) or while walking (almost never~ish but it does happen), the crime rate in Guatemala is pretty high. My advice if you are actually planning on coming here: Come with someone you trust and do a LOT of research when going somewhere, dont cheap out on travelling agencies but dont get scammed either (which is pretty common). But enjoy yourself! This country is beautiful and the food is top notch in every aspect. People here are nice to tourists (from what I've seen) and try to help whenever possible. Look up Pre-Columbian Mesoamaerican civilizations. Supposedly, for the thousands of years the region was inhabited, with all the advanced construction and farming, only the Mayans had a fully fleshed out written language. Well, we've got the contemporary Attenborough here. Enjoyed this, also like the fact you are now on a level you travel for your videos. Has to feel good to be able to do that, and I really am happy for you.

Earliest I've ever been here O.O Looks like quite the experience! What an Indiana Jonesey adventure! Even got yourself a proper hat :D Didn't steal any gold idols, I hope? ;) x) Possibly you saw no insects because this is the desolation of bats.

Someday I'll visit. I have been to Chichen itza. It was Amazing! When everyone ran off to go to lunch I stayed behind and had most of the place all to myself with the exception of just a few more people. It was really wonderful. In person you can see little flecks of blue and green and red still on the rock. So beautiful.

Finnish word for a bat is "lepakko" which is also a slang term for a lesbian. I found the sentence amusing.
