Now, as a semi-retired sailor, I spend just 9 hours a week maintaining my yacht and feel secure knowing I’ve maximized my benefits. I’m thrilled to be only 5% shy of my $3.4 million retirement goal, thanks to smart planning and the steps I’ve taken to rebuild my financial strategy.

Just wanted to dive more deeply into steps to purchasing a used car. If you do not currently know of a MASTER MECHANIC (before you shop), ask friends for a referall and give the mechanic a quick call and advise them you are shopping for a used vehicle and confirm they do PRE-PURCHASE inspections, etc. MAKE SURE you have the Master Mechanic look the vehicle over and make the vehicle purchase contingent on the Master Mechanic's OK (EVEN if it's from a dealer and EVEN if it's under warranty and EVEN if it's "CERTIFIED"...Money WELL SPENT!). If the seller will not accomodate this, tell them "take a long walk off a short pier..." I don't necessarily agree that you should only buy from a dealer, but realize if a dealer lies about anything in writing, you can make them sweat. The critical thing is having a very experienced mechanic (not your nephew with 6 months experience who is 19 years old and works in a shop).

Congratulations on 100k subcribers bro! You have consistently work yourself to this point, openly talked about this goal and I bet I'm not the only one very proud of you. Keep up the good work! What's your opinion about seasonal jobs that are reality for so many? Quite often many seasonal jobs can give you a possibility to work your ass off and get a lot of money with relative ease and short peeiod of time but since it's seasonal, you easily end up using all that saved money for simply living expences during the period outside of the season. And back to starting point. No money left for any vacation either. Kinda double edged sword and you easily end up to this vicious circle where all the earned money are there for just making through the beginning of the next season...

Unlucky for life...can also be who and what you surround yourself. It may be the support/not group even if it just affects your confidence and/or outlook on life. Don't get rid of them or fight with them, they are quite comfy with this...find new friends, outlets. Maybe the sour apples will learn from your having "Enough!". You do not have to say anything to them actually.

$10,000 for a decent car is a bit unrealistic if you factor in that a car at that price will probably have already been driven for over half its life. Unless you anticipate making much more money before you can no longer drive it (meaning your monthly payment would be a much smaller dent in your budget), you should expect to buy a new car within the next 5ish years, thus never going without a monthly payment.

We chose to have a car payment of $520 when we purchased our car new with a low interest rate. That car payment didn't hold us back from crossing a 7 figure net worth. Perhaps you are referring to people with an income lower than needed for an expensive car that can't truly afford paying for the car since they can't even afford to saving any money.

The car reality in US is diferent from other places, a 10k car is likely to need repairs soon, being from europe (Portugal) I know people here who live paycheck to paycheck (almost everyone) can only be get around 10k for an auto loan with no upfront cash in this current market, so everyone wants the same cars and salesman will inflate the prices to that level of crappier cars because they know the loan will be aproved, this is also the price range in which our (european) cars (almost all city cars, hatchbacks) cost at the time that they need big repairs, being no longer new, so you´re buying a car which the previous owners squeezed the "best miles" out of and now have to pay the car, interest AND repairs, making just about the price of a brand new exact same car. Vehicles lose value slowly in Portugal, because we can´t afford to let a big purchase go with no return, in motorcycles it´s even worse, sales are not keeping up so you will see used scooters more expensive than new ones because the buyer only buys when they´re desperate and can´t wait 3 or 4 months for a back order on a new one. In a country where everyone struggles you play life in extreme mode.

Thats still too much for a car. My truck in 2020 cost $4000, my car in 2023 cost $3400, car for my mother in 2023 cost $3500. Never been to a mechanic for any of them, just the quick lube. 1999 Chevy Silverado LS 2000 Lincon LS 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis

100 k! I need a KZbin channel. My issue is I keep running out of money buying investments. As soon as I get additional funds, I'm buying dividend funds, bond funds, s and p funds, international and emerging market funds. My wild weakness is aapl. I bought more at 172, and it's back over 200. Today, and yes, I piled in and bought more schd. Man, I need a 12 step program, Investors anon. I'm an out of control, addicted investor. 😂

To be honest; the only times I enter a convenience store is either to use the restroom, or because the credit card machine on the gas pump is broken. There is nothing conducive to financial freedom within the walls of a convenience store. (No offense to those struggling with gambling, alcohol, nicotine, or Hostess cupcake addictions). In my experience, private car sales can yield a good deal, but I highly advise getting the car checked out by your local, trusted mechanic. If the owner of the car refuses to let you do so, run, run as fast as you can! I've bought my share of "old lady cars", in which the owner either passes away, or stops driving, and their children/heirs/caretakers etc. need to get rid of it.
