It's funny if you go back to the early episodes Jerry's acting was terrible, it really was. Now, not that he was ever going to become a great AC-TOR. The qualifier there is you know Jerry never wanted to be but he didn't embarrass himself at all either. I get the impression from all the times I've heard him speak of his profession, I think if he wanted to be great actor he would've been able to do it. He just learned to use his sharp comic timing to work with others. Which you usually don't have to do because Stand up, normally, is a monalogue unless your act is like a Sam Morrill who uses half his time on stage interacting w/ the audience.

It's amazing how Seinfeld got stuff like this and the "shrinkage" episode for example past the censors and on the air. They were masters of taking things right up to the edge with suggestion, innuendo, etc. I can imagine a lot of parents got some inconvenient questions thrown at them from their young children wondering what was so funny. 🙂
