@-The-Mon2 жыл бұрын
dont get too excited, Flo-Jo is still the best female 100m and 200m sprinter that ever lived
@HH-mw4sq2 жыл бұрын
@@-The-Mon - FloJo's records need to be expunged. Not just because of the illegal 4+ m/s wind during her 100m run in Indianapolis, but because of her PEDs use, which both the IOC and USATF knew about. As a consequence, FloJo's last competitive sprint race was a 100m event in Tokyo on October 6th, 1988. Shortly after that she announced her retirement from sprinting to train for the 5K, the 10K, and the marathon. Which is ridiculous since no world class sprinter can ever be competitive at those distances. In fact, the best she ever placed in a 5K run was 29th. FloJo had to walk away from all those appearance fees, and endorsements because she was a drugs-cheat who made a deal with the IOC to "retire" from sprint events in exchange for keeping her records. It is unfair to women who are running clean. BTW, since Elaine Thompson-Herah is the ONLY female 100m and 200m Olympic gold medalist to successfully defend her gold medals, she is the best female 100m and 200m sprinter that ever lived, to date. Not your drugs-cheat fraud who never defended her Olympic titles.
@-The-Mon2 жыл бұрын
@@HH-mw4sq how do you know Thompson is not on drugs, you don't, just like you don't know that Flo-Jo was or was not on drugs, i believe that virtually every top sprinter is on something so that makes it a level playing field, and Flo- Jo is the best until her records are broken
@HH-mw4sq2 жыл бұрын
@@-The-Mon - because the testing for PEDs is far more advanced than it was in the 1980s. None of Elaine Thompson-Herah's urine samples provided to the testing authorities has been mostly water due to her taking diuretics, like FloJo's and other top US athlete's urine samples were at that time. Plus, the fact that ETH is a double Olympic champion who has stated her goal is to defend her Olympic gold medals in 2024, unlike FloJo who never competed in another Olympics or World Championships after 1988, despite being young and fit enough to do so. Remember, she "retired" from sprinting, not from athletics. She was in training for the marathon for the Atlanta 1996 Olympics, naturally she didn't come close to qualifying. Now if you ever read that ETH has "retired" from the 100 and 200m sprint events to train for the 5K, the 10K, and the marathon, you would ne 100% correct in your assertion that she was busted for PEDs and struck a deal with the IOC to never compete in any sprint event ever again, in exchange for keeping her records
@mikefun7482 Жыл бұрын
@@-The-Mon Some are legal and available to all, some are not. They all use the legal ones, there are certain scenarios where Illegal PED use becomes obvious and then whichever commission is in charge can test athletes whenever they want. Flo-Jo was never caught doping because tests were set from before the season but the signs were obvious, with Elaine there is nothing to even make you suspicious of her, her growth as a sprinter was slow and progressive, while Flo-Jo's times underwent a dramatic drop in a single season, far beyond what is reasonable in the event. Flo-Jo went from a 10.96 in the 100m in 1987 to a 10.49 in 1988 (her second fastest time in that season was 10.61). Her 200m time dropped from 21.96 in 1987 to 21.34 in 1988. That’s a .47 and .62 improvement in the 100m and 200m events, respectively, in a single season. That kind of improvement among elite athletes is unheard of. Mind you, no other woman in history has run under 10.60, and no one else has even run under 21.6. Women who use PEDs tend to take on more masculine features. Flo-Jo’s voice noticeably deepened, which can be observed in video interviews that are still online. Her jawline became more pronounced. There were reports that she began wearing more makeup to conceal acne and facial hair. She put on lots of muscle mass and definition. Those changes are all textbook signs of steroid use in women. Many other athletes either hinted or outright stated that Flo-Jo was on PEDs. Joaquim Cruz. Darrell Robinson, and Lorna Boothe were just a few names. Even Carl Lewis described her change and improvement as unnatural. Whenever a noticeable number of an athlete’s peers are willing to come out with accusations, there is reason for suspicion. The timing of her retirement was questionable. Right when it was announced that random drug testing was going to be put into effect following Ben Johnson’s steroid revelation in the 1988 Olympics, she immediately announced her retirement. Considering that she had just won three gold medals at the Olympics, was in her prime, and was finally going to receive the endorsement money she always wanted, it’s hard to view the timing of her retirement relative to the new drug testing policy as a coincidence. In short, Flo-Jo was doping, if it walks like a duck and quacks then it's a damn duck, but if she's your GOAT then so be it. Elaine is not on any illegal steroids because she get's tested randomly throughout the year, Flo-Jo's test were set from the year began, she knew when to dope, and when to cleanse her system. Why else would she retire when she did? She was in her "prime," about to be one of the highest paid athletes in the world, with no serious injuries, but as soon as the federation announced drug test would become random she retires.
