Awesome Nova, reminds me of my 75 Corvette sleeper. It’s all stock except for the drive train. 388 stroker with the Comp Cam nostalgia 500 lift cam, Edelbrock RPM Performer heads & Torker II intake, Holley 650 double pumper, Keisler RS 600 5 Speed and 4.11 gears. I left a car show behind a friend who was also showing his Nova that turns the in the mid twelves. As we were leaving, he got on Nova then I got on the stroker and but had to back off because I was running up his tail pipe. It gives me chills every time I see one of these muscle cars going through the gears.

Great video, the car sounds awesome! What kind of exhaust do you have on it? I've always been a Mopar guy but when I was about 12 years old my dad bought a 1966 Chevy Nova 2 that somebody had made a street/strip car out of. It had a 327 with a Muncie 4 speed. We never found out anything about the engine but I remember it having an aluminum intake manifold with a Holley carburetor, headers, traction bars and a cowl induction hood scoop. My dad and my brother got it running, cleaned it up, tuned it up and I remember riding with them while they were running it through the gears. It was a fun car! About six years after that I built my first car, it was a 1974 Dodge Challenger with a 440. It ran 12.85 on the motor and with a small nitrous kit it ran 12.03. Looking back and comparing the Chevy Nova my dad had, it probably would have ran high 13's. When I was 12 years old it sure fell fast! LOL! Anyways, thanks for the cool video!

Honestly looks like a lot of noise and not much speed. I guess I would drive carefully too if that was my car. That's why I would own 2 Novas. One that's a rough daily driver and then one that's pristine that I would use at shows and on the weekends. That way when you get rear ended by a high school kid texting it won't be so heartbreaking.

400hp? I'm seeing more like 500 - 550hp here. 400hp is a very low-ball guess for a blown 327. Hell, the 327's were, at one point, making 350hp from the factory. There must have been more than a 50hp gain from a blower... certainly sounds a lot more than 400.
@Bleepstick10 жыл бұрын
Ummmm BLOWN ???? Are we watching the same video ?? AT 18 sec, it clearly shows a tunnel ram sitting on that 327 not a Blower !!!
@BloodstainedSinner10 жыл бұрын
Bleepstick There's superchargers that look all ways, even like that, but now, I agree. I was wrong. I skipped too about 39 seconds into the video because I had initially thought the introduction was boring, so I missed the shot of the engine. I assumed it was supercharged because of the in-car video showing the intake.
@samrolfe862110 жыл бұрын
327 NA making 400hp reliably has got to be pretty built...350 less so but some might think that "cheating" if the badge says 327 be proud of that.

@Doosterify8 жыл бұрын
+biscaynenick Are you an engine builder or some kind of expert? I have a solid roller cam in my Duster and it has less than 10 inches a vacuum. Does that mean my cam is way too big too? Go to my channel; Doosterfy and see my car run.
@biscaynenick8 жыл бұрын
Doosterfy 31 years building, Machining, street/strip rotating assembly's, Heads, Carburetors, Curving distributors, and most certainly an "expert" when It comes to the lost art of tuning. Don't blame me because you don't know what the fuck you're looking at.
@Doosterify8 жыл бұрын
Its a Nova with a four speed and 4.88 gears. It probly weighs around 3200-3300#. On top of that it looks like a cruise night special and I doubt he races it. If it were a heavy car with an automatic and highway gears I'd agree with you. So with your analogy, one can determine if an engine will make good power by simply using a vacuum gauge?, above 10" = powerful and below 10"=weak? Tell you what, lets go put a vacuum gauge on a 327 of 350 Chevy in a stock eliminator car and see how much vacuum it pulls, then we'll watch it run in the 10s. I don't consider myself an "expert" on anything but I've been involved with the automotive hobby since 1977 and have built lots of cars so I'm not a novice. And what about my car, is it slow because it is below 10" of vacuum?
@Doosterify8 жыл бұрын
The 11 second car in my videos is mine. I built it. The only work I did not do myself was building the trans and the machine work in the engine. I did custom welded in frame connectors, the chrome moly five point roll bar, redid the entire electrical system, the entire fuel system, the entire brake system, everything. I chose all the components including the cam and its big enough that it pulls less than 10" of vacuum at idle. Those tires are not slicks, they are Mickey Thompson 275-60-15 drag radials. The car has been running for over two years with zero breakdowns or failures. Its a street car, no truck or trailer tows it, I drove it to and from the track, 220 mile round trip including highway and secondary roads with some long steep grades. I gets 12.5 mpg driving to and from the track and runs low 11s @ 121 mph with 60 fts in the 1.50s. The only prep I do to it at the track is to lower the tire pressure in the drag radials down to 20 psi. No timing or jetting changes, no open headers, nothing. Have you built and raced any cars? How come you have no videos to prove it? You know what I think biscaynenick? I think you're a keyboard racer. I think you troll around KZbin and probly other forums posing as an "expert". You are exactly what you are accusing me of being. I've know lots of pro engine builders, tuners and racers and not one of them would ever claim to be an expert and try to shout someone down in any kind of forum. They let their work do the talking. Now before you go and accuse me of being a liar and say there's no proof the car in my videos is mine I'm going to make a short video that proves its mine and right after I post this comment I'm going to upload it so you can go look and see. Watch Big Block Plymouth Duster street driving 1 and you'll see me driving my car. Then watch the video I post today and notice its the same person, me. Now onto the point of my argument. Would the Nova in the video gain more low end torque with a smaller cam? It might but my guess is the owner does not care about low end torque. It looks like a typical cruise night special where the guy wants it to look and sound bad ass but does not actually race it. So biscaynenick, why don't you post up some videos or pictures proving you're what you say you are? Lets see some of the super bad ass stuff you built, maybe your shop or customers cars.
@Doosterify8 жыл бұрын
biscaynenick, go to my channel and see what I posted just for you. biscaynenick=keyboard racer.
