Buckler is good for parrying but sucks for blocking so I'd recommend a medium shield with 100% physical damage negation (heaters, brass, etc.) and applying the Storm Wall or Carian Retaliation or Golden Parry Ash of War to it-- great parry frames and great blocking, you can even parry out of blocking!

If your shield has the no skill ash, Only equipment one weapon in your right hand. When you switch right hand weapons to nothing. Your default will be a kick. So you don't need kick on ash of war
