I think it’s possible Messmer had a lot of his worldbuilding done by GRR Martin because we know most of Elden ring was made by Martin BUT then DESTROYED by Miyazaki(he basically built onto what Martin made) I think a lot of what Martin wrote has been hidden from us until this DLC

In my opinion the theme doesn't really fit for Messmer, maybe something more like the weird lion dancer lightning boss thingi which clearly has chinese inspiration to go with the Erhu. Nevertheless, it's still an amazing piece of music! I'm always a sucker for Erhus lol.

This music shows a level of strain and royalty through the violin and the slow passing which matches Messmers speaking pattern and pace in the trailer with the strain coming from his questioning of Queen Marika.
