I absolutely love this boss. Out of every boss I have fought so far he strikes my fancy the best. I absolutely enjoyed his boss fight and his desire to become more powerful rings something deep within me too tbh. He's a joy to listen to, whenever I start I character in Elden ring I always grind out a Godrick knight set and use that. I am actually currently working my character up to take the mantle as Godrick the Grafted. His weapons and all.

My first time through Stormveil I noticed the really ugly holes in the walls with roots growing out of it. It actually gave me cringeworthy shivers because it looked like infected wounds or something. It was like the castle itself was decaying. At first I reckoned it was some kind of symbolism; castles represent prestige, power, and authority. The mottled holes seemed to be saying that Stormveil's particular position of power was dying, and becoming ever the more corrupted with time.
@Stasispack20242 жыл бұрын
This is a great observation. The true cause of stormviel rotting in popular belief is the courpse of Godwin the Golden which resides partly under Stomviel. As Godwin became the Prince of death after dying in the lands between he has been cursed with a rotting effect. You can see this in main part of his courpse in Deeproot depths. Having part of his body under Stomviel is causing the rot from within him to spread to the city and detioriate it. Credit to Vaatividya for most of the info in this comment.
@l0000worms2 жыл бұрын
@@Stasispack2024 the castle also has enourmous claw marks, only thing comparable is Plasidusax' claws, but that gives an idea. The roots taking over combined with the humongous claw marks gives such air of history, and you can only find out so much. Love this game

Further Dragon lore I've uncovered since yesterday (in relation to Godrick and his lineage) - the Golden Lineage Evergaol in the Altus Plateau region contains Godefroy the Grafted. Likely the father or grandfather of Godrick and clearly where he picked up his grafting expertise from. Most certainly one of the the forefather's Godrick implores to bear witness. - Godefroy's description says, "Godefroy the Grafted was captured by Dragon Knight Kristoff and imprisoned in the Evergaol which earned Dragon Knight Kristoff the hero’s honor of erdtree burial." So either the Erdtree faction was not actually in conflict with the dragons despite the erdtree succeeding them as the dominant power, or perhaps they were and Kristoff's reward was for switching sides. Or maybe it was a nonviolent shift of power, idk. - Kristoff's spirit ashes' description says, "Spirit of Kristoff, an honorable knight of Leyndell who was also a devout worshipper of the ancient dragons. His skills strike down foes with thunderbolts, the dragons' weapon of choice. After the First Defense of Leyndell, Kristoff earned the hero's honor of Erdtree Burial for the feat of capturing Godefroy the Grafted." - Interestingly, someone in the comments of Godfrey's (The first elden lord) wiki page notes that in the fight with his shade, Godfrey is very weak to lightning, which is noted as the Dragon's weapon of choice perhaps he is weak to it because the dragons are a natural enemy. - On the flipside, perhaps Godfrey had good relations with the dragons and used the dragonbolt blessing incantation. Because the dragonbolt blessing incantation is said to "increases resistance to all ailments and makes it easier to deflect enemy attacks. It also REDUCES THE LIGHTNING DAMAGE NEGATION of the player." - Roundtable Knight Vyke is an enemy that uses a dragon incantation called "Vyke's dragonbolt". Of Vyke it is said, "Of all the knights, Vyke the Dragonspear was the one Lansseax loved the most." Lansseax is a dragon boss found in the Altus Plateau that uses red lightning. - in Lansseax's description it says, "Lansseax was the sister of Fortissax. It is said that she took the from of a human to commune with the knights as a priestess of the ancient dragon cult". - Of Fortissax it is said, "Fortissax and Godwyn (who became the prince of death, first if the demigods to die) were said to be good friends, explaining why Fortissax guards his corpse." Suggesting that Godwyn was on good terms with the dragons. Perhaps this is why he was killed? - Either way there seems to be a pattern in Godfrey's lineage involving dragons. Based on his lightning weakness and strength I suspect Godfrey uses the dragonbolt blessing. His son Godwyn was said to be good friends with the dragon Fortissax. Godefroy is the only odd one out since he was seemingly at odds with the dragons considering he was captured by Dragon Knight Kristoff and cast into an Evergaol. Godrick was praising a dragon corpse as a trueborn heir and as kindred while also lauding his own forefathers, seeming to imply an air of camaraderie between dragons and his forefathers. He then grafts a dragon head onto his arm. But perhaps if he hadn't been pressed by desperation from being beaten half to death he might have have more elaborate plans like performing a dragon communion or grafting even more Dragon parts.
@skaab44702 жыл бұрын
Maybe godrick is not son of godefroy as he is still a demigod, a born weak demigod but still one, maybe godefroy is from the same family branch as godfrey but godfrey decided to change path compare to godefroy, idk just speculating

If you listen to Roderika’s dialogue when you first find her at the Stormhill Shack, she implies that her people sailed across the sea so that they could voluntarily be grafted onto Godrick’s body. It seems that he took advantage of his royal heritage in order to convince people that being grafted to his body was an honor worth dying for, and people believed it. Truly twisted, I love it.
