There was a comment on a SmoughTown video for Mohg that viewed the twins as showing different reactions to growing up in an abusive situation: Morgott was desperate to be loved so he stayed loyal to the Erdtree and tried to reject his Omen heritage (it looks like he has cut off some of the horns on his face area), while Mohg wanted to burn it all down and revelled in his Omen heritage, to the extent that his horns have outgrown to the extent that he is partially blinded. But I always found Morgott's story one of the saddest tales in all of Elden Ring: the only demigod who stayed loyal to the thing that hated him right to the end, and all for nought, even though he was granted Grace and the title Lord of Leyndell: even his Great Rune is proof of his heritage in the Golden Lineage. No matter what he does, the Erdtree will remain sealed to all. And harshest of all, his Omen curse is finally lifted right before he dies.

I like to think that despite them having almost polar opposite ideologies they both agree both agree that the frenzied flame is too dangerous to be communed with. Which is the reason they both protect the entrance I think it adds a lot to their relationship and really shows how dangerous the frenzied flame is when protecting it is the only thing that gets the brothers to work together.

@kingjaymoney5616 That's comeplelty wrong, though the frenzied flame wishes to destroy EVERYTHING, and even then, the games aren't connected like at all. The first flame made life and death and all that from its birth, that sounds like the greater will more than the flame of frenzy, which causes madness and takes life and doesnt do what the first flame does, each game isnt connected to the other there all seprate universes and the source for this is the game creater himself saying their not connected

@@kingjaymoney5616 dark souls basically revols around the first flame and the ending of a dying world cause the gods fucked up (not surpsingly sense this series caused it basically) so basically giant dragons made of stone ruled and the world was nothing more then grey bland landscape that never change, then the first flame popped up out of bunfuck nowhere, caused life and death, destruction and creation, change and stagnation, light and shadow, from then came the four lords, nito the first undead, the witches of chaos, gwyn lord of sunlight and sceeth the scalesless, the only stone dragon without scales and betrayed his kin for their scales so he can be truly immortal, the only thing that could harm the stone dragons were lightning, the first flame was split into four peices for the four lords, but ohh right, there was one last oh so easily forgoten, the fugitive pygmy the orginal human who had the dark soul basically the most powerful thing in existince of dark souls, it unlike the flame never died and the more it spreads the more it grows in strength, only man had this power. Sadly gwyn in his fear of his age dying like it was supposed to forced a curse upon man that alongside the dying fire their souls leak from them as well, and undeath is the natrual state of man and he made mankind fear and revile the natrual state of mankind and fear their immortality, whilst their soul leaks out cause od the ring surrounding the first flame slowly they go mad and turn into hollows, mindless undead sadly, basically in dark souls someone must link the fire less the age of dark which is painted as bad when it isnt comes and the world is constanlty dying cause of the cycle not continuing so yeah basically blame gwyn fear and hatred of man for the state of the dark souls world

@@say5070 I'm with you. Let's also not forget that Morgott, the OMEN, became king and all other Omen are still treated the same. He did nothing to make anyone's life better he just violently simps for an order that hates him. He's pretty much pro-government in 1942 Germany while being Jewish. Since he calls himself King the state of the whole kingdom should be on his head but I"ll cut him a break and just judge him by the state of Altus and Leyndell: He's doing a terrible job. No one is fixing anything or cleaning up anything and it appears to me that the majority of the civilian population in Leyndell is gone. Meanwhile, all villages in Altus aside from Domminula have been destroyed. Domminula Village is just outside the outer wall of Leyndell and is off the rails and he hasn't sent anyone to reign that in. He sent a bunch of folks up Mt. Gelmir and that went terribly, as a matter of fact I think the Godskin Apostle is meant to give the impression the Domminula is under Gelmir control. Bringing this up makes me wonder when civil services stopped in the Lands Between. The road that leads from Leyndell to Liurnia and beyond, I call the Lord's Highway. This highway has engravings of prior Elden Orders on it so it is older that the Shattering War but then there is a chunk of sky ruins laying on the highway in Liurnia between Raya Lucaria and the Lift of Dectus. One would assume an order would be sent to clear the road. How long has that ash been there in Leyndell and why hasn't anyone cleared it? Why haven't they chiseled away Gransax's corpse, where they slowly harvesting him for smithing stones lol?

I also believe Godfrey was proud of his son protecting the city and had only upmost admiration for him since the guidance of grace leads to your Tarnish before the fight from Morgott's passing. As many have said before, I think the Greater Will doesn‘t dictate the "type" of Order it wants, but it all depends on the current user of the ELden Ring. That's why Placidusax and Marika's Eras are different. In that way, the Golden Order rejecting the Omens was fully on Marika's own desire and hatred towards the Hornsent. That's why Morgott getting recognized by the "Golden Order" at the end is satisfying, as finally all those years of unbreakable loyalty and sacrifice could transcend his mother´s influence on the Golden Order and reach the outer god perhaps? or even more surprisingly, it being Marika's finally accepting him somehow.

Maybe, she created the exception to noble born omen to keep them alive at least. And morgots charachter definitely has absent Dad issues. I just watched a video about some of what the creator thought was mistranslations of the crucible with the word primordial being misused and misrepresenting what was meant. And it mentions a spot where the colors red and gold are used as descriptions of the crucible Era and the beginning. Which stood out very much in your title of the omen twins. Souls that are "touched by the crucible" and they happen to be red and gold... interesting!! EDIT: the video is from the last protagonist. If anyone is interested in what im saying. And red and gold do come up quite a bit in the erd and crucible eras

Kinda undercut by the Great Rune saying explicitly that the Omen king was *born of* the Golden lineage. Not part of or adopted into, born of. That means Godfrey must be at least a blood relative. If Hoarah Loux has a secret twin who was banished to the Shadow Realm, maybe.

@@Destruxtionstyle For what this is worth, I think you are making a mistake considering Morgott and Mohg ‘afflicted’. The DLC clearly shows that the Crucible touched had a whole civilisation in the time before the Erdtree, and horns were seen as a blessing and not a curse. Consider that Omens don’t lose anything unlike true curses- they don’t rot or stop aging, they can still speak if taught, hell, Morgott, despite being ‘graceless’ can clearly still use Erdtree magic and has the distinct golden eyes of a child of Marika. All omen get are being bigger, stronger, faster, and horns that don’t inhibit movement or have any other detrimental effects. Also, Godfrey led the Crucible Knights. If anyone’s kids would be blessed by the Crucible, it’s his.

Honestly with what we know now I beleive the trauma Marika endured made it very hard for her to see horns, and by extension her kids sadly. It doesn't justify her actions, nothing does, but it puts a lot in perspective. I can understand being upset by a certain person or item. The whole game is about cycles and breaking harmful ones, these two are such an important study for that, as well as Ranni's quest for autonomy.

I know this video is older now and that we all know a lot of the lore now, I just want to say two things: 1. The term "Outer God" doesn't mean a higher god outside of the lands between, but more they are outside the ruling power. It has to do with the original Japanese text, and the religious beliefs around gods as seen in Japanese culture. 2. You can see the cocoon on the his back with Miquella in his arms. Think for Morgott, it's not that the erdtree rejects him as a omen, but rather the thorns prevent anyone from becoming a elden lord. Another thing to note, Morgott didn't die as a omen, the last thing to happen is something drained the omen away, leaving him human, grace given indeed.
@davisiotta489
@davisiotta489 5 ай бұрын
Do you know the saddest part? he was probably the preferred candidate of the greater will to become the new elden lord after Godwyn's death, who created the thorns and the seal was Radagon who didn't want to lose the position of elden lord, Radagon clearly has hatred for everything that it goes against the golden order and this especially includes Morgott before he dies he is devoid of the "curse" he was born under and I think this could be the work of the greater will, the greater will simply doesn't care about the definition of the new order but that there simply is order, the greater will was probably involved with the crucible civilization that Marika destroyed and simply let Marika replace that order and antagonize the crucible, it's not the greater will that has hatred for the omens IT'S MARIKA!
@allthe1
@allthe1 5 ай бұрын
I'd like to know why it seems taken for granted that Marika hated her omen sons. Where is the evidence for that? I can't find a direct reference to her stance with her sons and that would be very valuable to have a critical view of her actions. It would be as likely for her to have protected them from the cruel society she ruled over as nothing could have been done to prevent them from being excised or killed, she probably feared even her own will wasn't sufficient to set new as attitudes, on top of the political significance letting them go in the world meant to her order. I like the idea that her sons would have been the first in the shunning grounds because, before their very own Goddess, no one would have thought to protect their omen children from the scorn and violence which was warranted by society against them.

A few things: 1 no, the mogh we fight in the shunning grounds isnt an illusion made by mogh, its Morgott's work, evidence being the fact that it disappears into golden dust when defeated, just like Margit. 2: Mogh needs Miqueloa because he himslef isnt an empyrean, he cant become the god his dynasty needs so he aims to do what we do as tarnished during the normal ending, to become the consort of the current god and thus elden lord

Not necessarily. They aren't diseases, just hated due to their connection to the crucible

Poor Mohg. He was born opressed and hated, and when he finaly gained some power he was brain washed and used as a tool by miquella...

We have an old video on them however there's some speculation about their possible connection to albinaurics that I now believe is off-base. Still worth a watch!

I have a question regarding the lore for STG or anyone who can answer. Why is Ranni an Empyrean but her brothers Rykard and Radahn are Demi Gods? I thought Empyreans were pretty much Gods or soon to be Gods and were kinda their own “Race” for lack of a better term.

It's implied that only women are empyreans aside from Miquella because he was born a twin. He also seems to have some kind of male/female duality

@@square-table-gaming So besides Gender what separates an Empyrean from a Demigod? Or is that the difference? Also what does that make Radagon? Thank you for your fast reply btw

@@snoopythagoat3071 no prob. Demi-Gods of the children of Marika (also Radagon since they are 1 but different convos). Empyreans are those who can house the Elden Ring within their bodies. They don't necessarily have to be Demi-Gods because as far as we know Marika did not become a God until she held the Elden Ring and the Gloam Eyed Queen was likely not a Demi-God.

@@square-table-gaming So in a sense an Empyrean is a vessel for the Elden Ring. Okay that makes more sense. And what of Melania. Who is said to be an Empyrean but becomes a Goddess of Rot independent of possessing the Elden ring? Sorry for all the follow up questions

@@snoopythagoat3071 no worries happy to answer. Malenia WAS an empyrean, however she wasn't a suitable vessel due to the influence of the outer god of rot. She also devoted herself to Miquella as his blade. I think it's fair to assume Rannis fingers chose her as the new vessel due to the curses affecting Malenia and Miquella.

Marika hides the truth Formless mother being called Mother of Truth And the bloody scene in the trailer. The mother of truth is far more important that we possibly realize. Perhaps the mother of truth is what the Gloam Eyed-Queen became. Perhaps she's a wounded God and her blood flame is the missing aspect to the black flame to make it whole.
