Likely the reason for the priest of blood being in the underground ruins is likely to keep an eye on the frenzy Flames or was their to walk in the footsteps of his lord and to get a better understanding of his power.🤔🐱

Since the Greathood is related to Renala, and there's a theory that the Blood Star and Formless Mother are connected, perhaps the Priest's discovery was of the Blood Star. He may have been a sorceror of Raya Lucaria that discovered the Star and viewed it as a revelation equal to that of Renala's moon, which then led him to seek out Mohg.

very likely. the blood star and the formless mother both like sacrifices of blood and both tend to prefer outcasts and criminals - the theory that they are one in the same is pretty likely

I was wondering if the priest of blood in fact introduced mohg to the formless mother. As you say he has top tier blood skills, and he is located near where mohg was imprisoned. Could it be that the blood priest, hidden beneath leyndell kept the tradition of the formless mother alive over the years then, when mohg escaped and encountered him on the way out the priest found his champion. He indoctrinated mohg as the formless mother's Lord and took his place as high priest. I like this explanation in conjunction with the hood as well- the implication being that the priest found his purpose alone and used that purpose to found the formless mother's dynasty is more powerful to me than him receiving instructions from mohg. Lots of people have received instructions from mohg after all.

It's plausible that Garrus' family is anguished because in his efforts to raise them, he disrupted their souls' cycle of root absorption and rebirth. That's certainly a reasonable alternative explanation, and I would go further and say it's likely.

Gowry probably was considered heretical for his night sorceries, specifically eternal darkness that could swallow all spells. He does say that he began worshiping her rot after the battle, he could have watched the battle when the rot took hold over Caelid right under his prison. And considering he has glintstone stars he might have been in league with Sellen and the Olivinus conspectus. They have Lusat as master and he is found outside of Sellia in his prison. Their crown provides int for hp which is a fitting little nod to the rot where your life saps aswell. This is not my original theory but I believe it fits well.

I've always had this crazy deep theory about Garris and his importance to the Knight of the Black Knives. The Sage's Cave and the various items within it make me believe that this was where the Night of the Black Knives was plotted and put together. Garris, by this logic, MIGHT have been how the Rune of Death was 'stolen' from Maliketh and used for their own ends. I always wondered how - like did Ranni literally sneak up to Maliketh and take a shard from him when he wasn't looking? No, I think what happened was so: Garris understood the interconnectedness of the world, to an extent: he saw how death and the soul was linked and that missing link was death sorcery (Hawkshaw has a great video on the colors of Elden Ring that breaks this connection down into something that makes more sense). Part of the settings' "interconnectedness" is because the Elden Ring is essentially the soul of reality - with a part of this belief being that every "rune arc" is a shard of the Elden Ring that represents the individual's existence within reality. This is relevant because Garris's flail is his family being dead, but kept alive through botched, primordial gold - copper; being made of "copper heads" means that these could be his family members' heads. They're in a state of "death" that could open a tangible path to the Rune of Death. Ranni, being the talent that she is, could have been the one to "dissect" the essence of this family's state of death (like how Godwyn spreads the concept of Death throughout the land, think of it like that) and recreate the runes into a black knife conscription. All of this is to say, Garris sacrificed his family to help make the Knight of the Black Knives possible. What's interesting is, another individual(s) that helped were the Raptor Assassins who worshipped Deathbirds. Perhaps they're the ones who pointed Garris into this direction, that of their Death sorceries? We also find an forbidden, ancient family crest on the shield - it seems - in the form of that burning-tree candlestick. Another connection to someone who preceded the Erdtree. Tarnished Archeologist has recently been going into the "Pagan civilizations" of this era that fills in some societal gaps we thought were blank, such as peoples and what they worshipped. It wasn't just the Carians and Sellians and Nox who plotted the Knight of the Black Knives, there were peoples within the land who had been around before Marika's rule, involved in the plot that made it possible.

I don't know anything about these characters so this might just be a shot in the dark, but for the necromancer, perhaps he wasn't a necromancer before his family died. Maybe they were killed in a horrific way leading him to seek out some way to get them back only to get a way to use them as vengeful spirits. Maybe their anguish allows him to be able to use them because they are angry spirits for the way they died. But I love your theory too. Think this is one of those that are very open to speculation without extra information.

I think Garris reason to be exiled is because he murdered his family, maybe hoping he could bring them back with his knowledge, only to bring them back as rancorous spirits instead of bringing them back to life. maybe the reason we find his spell near Godwyn's face is because he tried to study godwyn to truly bring his family back.

I believe the Greathood gives us one of the biggest clues of the identity of the snowy crone. “Queen Rennala encountered this enchanting moon when she was young, and later, it would bewitch the academy.” The word *bewitch* which is associated with one demigod in particular so if Rennala used the full moon to bewitch the academy, then what prevented Rennala from becoming bewitched herself? If you look at the statues of Miquella, he’s always depicted with his head much larger than his body which is a trait babies have, and explaining why the “Greathood” and the Snowy Crone Hat is larger than your typical sized head. It’s already hinted that Miquella is Torrent’s former master in the DLC and I believe Edgar reinforces that theory further.

st. trina being the snow witch?
@puzzleheaded6195
@puzzleheaded6195 Жыл бұрын
@@ninjahattori7576 It’s currently my best guess. Miquella’s influence in this story runs deep Imo but it’s not easy to tell at face value. For example, judging from Turtle Pope’s dialogue, we know that Radagon left Rennala to become second Elden Lord after his union with Queen Marika but before he left, he bequeathed the Amber Egg that she is found cradling when we meet her in-game. Miriel claims she was left heartbroken because of his departure, but what if there is more to the story? What if instead of heartbroken, she’s actually bewitched? Let’s look at some details on the Amber egg: We are given dialogue from Gideon that the egg contains a Great Rune, and further progression into the game reveals it to be the The Rune of the Unborn. The rune is not revealed to be associated with any god in particular, much like the Rune of Death, but there are some interesting implications on it. Mohgs Great rune reads - “Mohg and Morgott are twin brothers, and their Great Runes are naturally similar.” Judging from that item description, the Rune with the most similarity to it is Malenia’s, who was Miquella’s twin. If this egg does contain the Great Rune of Miquella, possibly his soul too, then an explanation for the shape of the rune could be his curse - the “eternal childhood” - and possibly why the juveniles are imperfected and stuck as children. This brings me to my theory. Rennala is overly attached to it, calling it her little “culver”. We know from the Bewitching Branch that Miquella had the ability to compel love and affection and if we look close, we can see traces of it inside the egg, particularly the white buds before they hatch. We know anything that’s mixed with the blood or essence of Miquella tends to stay in a premature “infant” form, hence the Haligtree being stuck as a baby version of the Erdtree and now the buds inside the egg. Another thing to point out is the empty bird cages found all over the Raya Academy. I always wondered what the purpose of these were but then it dawned on me, there is an item in the game called “The Slumbering Egg” and it’s a crafting material needed to create items in the game that alleviate sleep. This makes me think the members of the Academy were trying to awaken Rennala from her “deep slumber” as Ranni says and at the same time, explain why the Knights of the Cuckoo marched against the Carian manor since they must’ve found out what Ranni is doing. So why would Ranni keep Rennala in her current state and attempt to possibly reincarnate Miquella? One theory is it’s because Miquella was in fact Ranni’s secret mentor, the Snowy Crone, and Torrent is the key to prove it, specifically his Whistle. The spectral steed whistle is made of a delicate “goldwork”, not just gold, mirroring the Item Description on the Unalloyed Needle. I didn’t think much of it at first but after seeing the flame of frenzy ending, I’ve speculated that the material is Unalloyed Gold. This is backed by the fact that the whistle is still intact after the flame of frenzy is unleashed. Gold only reacts to heat by melting and the fact that it’s burning in the ending is bizarre and means it could be rejecting the flame. We know that Miquella’s needle is made from the same stock and has the properties to ward away the effects of the flame of frenzy and rot, which both originate from outer gods. Torrent is also partial to the Frozen Raisins which are made exclusively from the Mountaintops with his mane being pale blonde like Miquella’s but that could just be a coincidence since Radahn’s horse has red hair. Or if you really want to go unhinged, Ranni may in fact be Miquella reincarnated. Miquella is thought to have an alter ego named St.Trina who’s going gender is open to interpretation(The double helix can be seen in Miquella’s needle which depicts the symbol for mercury(Roman God), who represents intersex people). In fact, the item description in the Sword of St. Trina states that he could’ve been a boy or girl. St. Trina is heavily tied to sleep and it can’t be a coincidence that Ranni enters a deep slumber at the same time as Rogier after you get close to retrieving her curse mark. During her first appearance in the Church of Elleh, the merchant and the donkey are also both asleep and the fog that covers the area can be seen on the Trina Lily and envelops all of Liurnia. Also, the juveniles in Rennala’s fight sing about sleep and St. Trina’s torch portrays the figure with one eye (Ranni always keeps one eye open). Something interesting about Blaidd is that his breastplate portrays two twins with a tree between, possibly being Miquella, Malenia and the Haligtree, and the double helix from Miquella’s needle can be seen in his Royal Greatsword. Blaidd could very well solve the mystery of their Shadow since they were born at the same time, being twins. His breastplate also tells us he always hated the cold but it never snows in Liurnia? I think the fact that Ranni discarded her flesh is the reason Blaidd has been able to help Ranni wage war against the Greater Will, right up to the point where Ranni murders her Two Fingers, going mad at the end of the questline because Ranni(Miquella) is in our pocket as a miniature doll. Speaking of Unalloyed Gold, the Mask of Confidence in particular could hint towards this secret. The gold threads could be unalloyed to hide Miquella’s(Ranni) secret from the Greater Will. This would also explain Malenia’s confrontation with Radahn. In her ending, She embraces Marika(her true mother) and vows to finish what they started which is to not be influenced by the Greater Will/Outer Gods anymore before creating a massive waygate into the Dark Moon(also explains why all the way gates smaller than our tarnished, since they were meant for a child). Finally, Ranni does sound like a child and she looks exactly like her doll which I believe is fashioned after Miquella. If you look at the statues of Miquella, he’s always depicted with his head much larger than his body which is a trait babies have, and explaining why the “Greathood” and the Snowy Crone Hat is larger than your typical sized head which is also a recurring theme with the Glinstone Crowns. Also, It only snows inside of Miquella’s husk in all of the Haligtree, further associating Miquella with the cold. I know there’s Miquella’s “body” in Mohg’s palace but I believe the it’s nothing but a husk since we don’t get a Great Rune. It’s likely he bewitched Mohg, Rennala, Seluvis, Gideon, Malenia etc. Even the player(why else would our character give her a wedding ring that clearly states “don’t give this to me”). “Oh? A dogged fellow aren’t we? Or is it thy habit to merely talk to dolls?” We know Radagon had a close relationship with Miquella so maybe the purpose of him bequeathing the egg to Rennala is to protect him from the Greater Will since Miquella seemed to have abandoned fundamentalism and the Golden Orders favor. Melina is hard to figure out but she does put us to sleep on top of the cauldron which could link her somehow as well.

To understand Elden Ring lore allways asume you are told a biased half truth. The Intro makes this very clear. A falling star arrived carrying a vessel of the greather will, (And another falling star carried the Naturalborn). The Everlasting queen removed the rune of Death, (And Radagon gave away the rune of Life). The Greater will/Golden order is very much a slave to it's own fundamental laws. To find the truth, find the counterpart of the story. Or the ripple effect. This is why "The Shattering" is so clever. If you attempt to destroy the Elden ring, someone is bound to save it, hench both are destined to fail. And we see this symbolised, as Malenias rune no longer overlap/counter Miquellas rune etc, so for a split second in time destiny was altered. (If you did not know the elden ring contains of 4 "paired/overlapping" greater runes, 8 rings in total, (arguably +/- maybe changed... point is it illustrates it's not a 1/1 copy of the previous version.=) The Victor writes the Legend.

You are correct! An oversight on our part. Varre is a high ranking member of the of the dynasty who also has access to blood incantations. Most likely slipped my mind as I never let him get one off.

@@square-table-gaming so what could this mean lore wise? That mogh gives his incantations to high ranking members? If multiple people have them them then it could decrease the value and rarity of them within the lands between?

@@evanslotnik4387 true but as far as we know there are only 2 high ranking members, Varre and Esgar. His typical bloody fingers don't seem to weild these.

Does frenzy work on him? If so, he is tarnished.
@square-table-gaming
@square-table-gaming Жыл бұрын
I've seen this idea that only tarnished can be frenzied a lot, but there's no lore indicating that this is true. Like deathblight, this is most likely a gameplay quirk to keep us from using these skills against bosses as they'd be pretty busted. After all, we meet crabs clearly infected with deathblight and many enemies who can weild the frenzied flame that aren't tarnished.
@palesmichael
@palesmichael Жыл бұрын
@@square-table-gaming the incantation flame of frenzy imlies it a lot. But maybe its just this one spell. Also, i am currently on my faith character, so I can test it.
@square-table-gaming
@square-table-gaming Жыл бұрын
@@palesmichael it does say only effective against tarnished, but it says that in the explanation of what it does, not in the bit that can be considered story content. My mindset is that, from a story perspective, if only tarnished can be effected by the flame of frenzy, we shouldn't be able to find various nobles, knights and trolls able to use frenzy against us throughout the lands between.
