What you consider "safe distance" is actually the optimum "casting distance" if most of your spells are long ranged. So yes it is really nice to have it especially if the opponent doesnt use Bloodhound's step, it will take a while for them to catch up on you :)

I was using this combination with the Urumi whip and Carian regal staff, it's pretty fun. The range bloodhound step moves feels just right for using whips too. Just have to be careful if you use it in PvE because you're liable to throw yourself off a cliff or something with bloodhound step.

I like your strategy. Getting them so occupied dodging your missiles so you can land a few quick melee hits until they make a mistake and get destroyed by the remaining spells.

Plus Collapsing Star not only does a good chunk of damage but it also drags in enemies close to you because it’s gravity magic.

Best counter for mages like this that I’ve found is using swarm of flies. It fucks them up when they just stand there casting and you can go in and close the distance

Thing is, if you just case the Eternal Darkness spell it gets absorbed and the mage can just continue casting

@@meerodinero4166 Maybe try using the "Darkness" magic on PvP Invasions? It's a Faith Build scaling magic that disrupts vision. Mages Ganksquad won't be able to aim accurately if they can't see you.

Nah if you use the lightning spear the one you throw at them while they in mid casting its usually faster then they cast speed so if timed right you could tagg tf out of them with it

Stars of Ruin is my favorite spell so far. Wrecks in pve and pvp. You cannot dodge those unless you jump up into the stratosphere like Radahn

Sorry it’s my first time dueling in a souls game and after a lot of dueling then I realized that the host has more healing pots. I don’t heal anymore now though so don’t worry xD

Just a heads up to those who just saw this vid from today onwards, this is an old video from months ago when Elden Ring first came out and I decided to try out PVP for my very first time in any Dark Souls game. This is just a random gamer who decided to record and show his gameplay, its not in any way shape or form the "Ultimate Build" or "PVP Guide". I dont even play it anymore xD. It is viable because of the headgear that I am wearing (Lusat's Glintstone Crown) which boosts the potency of Lusat's primeval sorceries (Stars of Ruin), basically the bread and butter of the build

The weapon is Lusat's Glintstone Staff, and my Talismans are Green Turtle Talisman (Stamina), Primal Glintstone Blade (FP), Prosthesis Wearer Heirloom (DEX because I lack dex to use the right hand weapon) and the Cerulean Seed Talisman (FP Restoration). I juggle between Talismans so I havent really figured out the best combination for my character yet !

Jeez, this looks like cancer to deal with. Im already not a fan of spam casting, especially Stars of Ruin since its basically impossible to escape. But then bloodhound step to boot? I built a mage, too, but I only use the Carian sword sorceries, gavel, and rock blaster with a claymans harpoon. This is exactly why.

as a mage i hate spam casters. try innovative tricks. ill use rannis moon and cut them off as they run away with bloodhound step and then use carrian peircer. in late game pvp people just leave if you sit there spamming spells and bloodhound step

I really don’t understand why hosts bother posting videos where they chug estus. You do realize hosts have like 3X the healing pots as the invader. If the invader chugs, it’s free game, but if you guys are dueling, duel to the death. May the best man win, not the man with more healing pots. Yes if someone has high poise I wouldn’t be able to melee them. The melee is to punish people with low poise. If they have high poise unfortunately I’d have to stick with long range spells

I use an Antspur Rapier with scarlet rot and poison on it to punish people with low poise, also as a follow up to Collapsing Stars which brings the enemy closer to you. I’m not using it for the raw damage, just for the Damage over time when I have the chance 😬

Use a magic infused estoc instead of antspur, it has the most range and dmg out of all the rapiers

Im not really using the Antspur for the raw damage. It has scarlet rot and poison on it for damage over time. My main attacks are with the spells :)

I realised this too. I think the way it works is either theres a set amount of potions you can use when summoned, or it depends on how many potions the host has. Like in multiplayer, if you're high leveled and joined a lower leveled player, then your potions will be the same amount as the host player.

I believe im at around level 150 or 170 im not too sure. I basically spent points on Intelligence up to 70, and the rest in HP, FP and stamina. A little in strength/ dex just to be able to wield some weapons.

@@Gunslinger47911 If played right, all builds are OP and viable. My mage build punished people who spam roll, low poise, no shields, fight at long range etc. The way a mage fights is different from a melee build. You could say that if someone with a melee build comes close, im dead, but thats now how it works. I could either try and distance away with the Bloodhound's Step and cast a spell, or have short range spells to punish melee builds like Gavel of Haima. I definitely do not win only 1/10 of PVP fights, From my experience using this build, which in the description says its my own personal build that im having fun with, I win 70% of the time. When I lose, I learn from my mistakes and switch out sorceries to improve the build and be ready for different situations. Its a learning experience and a fun one at that :)
