@Jailbreak Redemption - R.D I would say it would definitely improve the load times. You can use External HDD's with later 360's or a External SSD. This would close the gap even further. You wont get all the benefits the PS3 has like the way the world loads in the nxt chunk on the world but the gap will be closer between them. I'd still play the PS3 version myself as I like the improvements plus I have a Mclassic to improve the resolution and add AA to the game among other things so that's my preferred version at the moe.

Your modded version removed a lot of the bright colors that give Oblivion it's unique aesthetic for the time. Remember the late 2000's and early 2010's when it seemed like every game was super gray and brown? Oblivion stood out because it wasn't that, but this mod kinda makes it look duller.

So true, that's why i stopped using ENB for Oblivion as the game already looks great without it. Oblivion's bright and colorful visuals really stood the test of time imo. You'd want ENB for Skyrim to make it look better though, as the game got this blue-ish atmosphere, not as colorful. same as Fallout 3(green) and New Vegas(brown/yellow). Fallout 4 is somewhat colorful, but not as much, but i still prefer to use ENB for Fallout 4.

the bluray drive of the ps3 is actually quite slower than the xbox 360's dvd drive, the main reason why the ps3 loads faster is because a lot of the content is copied to the internal hard drive so it can read faster. The 360 version can be played without any hdd, so they couldnt implemant de same cache that on the ps3.
@WllKiedSnake4 жыл бұрын
This is correct. I wonder if installing the game to the 360's HDD on the newer model would have it be on par with PS3 in load times.

@Ioannis Stefanakis interesting ! thanks for your input ! Obviously the best version still is the PC version, especially with mods. Console versions are great too imo.
@WllKiedSnake4 жыл бұрын
@Ioannis Stefanakis Yeah I would of guessed as much. Now if only someone would compare Oblivion running from an SSD on 360 and PS3. Should make them run on par in a lot of places at that point. I only actually found out you can use a external SSD or HDD with the 360 recently. Should help the system in a lot of ways.
@WllKiedSnake4 жыл бұрын
@Ioannis Stefanakis The PS3 cant even use the ports for a External HDD or SSD. Your stuck with the internal. Also the internal is SATA 2 so you will only get speeds of 350mbs or 450mbs I believe. But using a SSD with the system regardless of not getting the full speeds of the SSD you use will still be a huge improvement. Especially the more modern SSD's. The extra cache on top on the SSD speed will help a lot. I'm tempted to go overkill and use a Samsung QVO 870 1tb with it. That combined with the Mclassic I have will give me a PS3 Pro on sorts. Haha!

Oblivion was far one the biggest time wasters of my early 20's when It was released. I has just gotten my first decentish job ($13/hr-CAD) in 2006. I split rent on a 2 bedroom 2 story house with basement for $650 a month. Needless to say I had a lot of disposable income at the time so it went into building a beast of an amd64x2 with a 512mb nvidia card so I could play the game maxed. I never realized the differences -- and similarities -- until you made this video. The only reasons I prefer the Windows 10 version are mods, cheats, all of the DLC (yes, including horse armour), and keyboard/mouse control lol. I had a blast when I first played the game on PS3, but playing it on PC years later is just so much better. The fact that the graphics are nearly identical (in spite of texture pop-in, somewhat lacklustre details, and typically slightly longer loading times in my experience) is just a boon to my initial experience with the game.

I'm surprised how the ps3 version is better. I never owned a 360 and I only ever heard about the problems ps3 had with elder scrolls games, but maybe that was just skyrim.

Bethesda, had to guess the specs for the 360. That's why it's bad.

Out of the old PC, PS3, and 360, I honestly think PS3 looked the best.

The actual native Oblivion resolution is 1024x600 on both PS3 and 360, with 2x MSAA for X360 and no AA for PS3. Both consoles where too new by the time the game was developed. The 360 version is almost a copy and paste from PC, the PS3 even having the lower graphic setting (same res but no AA at all) looks better a lot of times because of some rework done by Bethesda to the PS3 release, they got a little more time with this version. My favorite Elder Scrolls game, great comparison!

Thank you. I couldn't find a source stating the proper resolutions of the console versions. All of them said 720p.

Honestly, I have never completed an Elder Scrolls game. They are seriously long.
@RookerVision4 жыл бұрын
Me either. Lol.
@jasonbinney29794 жыл бұрын
The story itself isn't all that long. You can definitely bang the story out in less than 20 hours and then do side content.

I never beat it, didn't like the fact you just follow orders and the main character doesn't have any personality
@random_malware23144 жыл бұрын
@@samuelesquivel6202 Exactly , that is my issue with most RPG games. The Witcher is probably the only RPG game that I played till the end.

I’ve never finished one either even though I put hundreds of hours into both elder scrolls 4 and 5.

Something isn’t right with your windows XP frame rates, you should definitely have higher frames with a GeForce 8 series. Maybe a driver issue.

Or maybe a passenger issue?

It was the ddr2 versions. There are Gddr ones that were more common.

I know Skyrim is better on a technical level but I find the environments of Oblivion prettier to look at due to the brighter color palette

I’ve put many hours into both the 360 and PS3 versions of this game. I remember the PS3 version frequently crashing. Especially around the outskirts of the main town. Also I think the PS3 version had a mandatory hard drive install which would have helped with loading.
@RookerVision4 жыл бұрын
You are right, it did have the install. I forgot about that as this has been installed on my PS3 for many years.
