What a fantastic day and it has been great learning this in a lead up to today as well. Thanks again for Paul for inviting us on the stream (JP & Davey)

Finally finished watching this! It was epic. I feel so lucky to have played this twice at Gridcon, both sessions were so different even though I played the same start build. Thanks Paul, JP and Davey for an excellent playthrough and for explaining things as you went along. I cannot wait for this to arrive!!

That playthrough was well worth the wait, and I'm convinced that that also will be the case when the game finally arrives. Huge thanks to all involved.

What a great playthrough and explanation of the rules, won't be the last time I watch this or use it as a reference once the game is here.

thanks much for doing this, it's most helpful, the game makes much more sense now... knowing there is so much Too Many Bones DNA in this one, I've also been trying TMB for the first time, just to help me better understand ES, and your playthroughs on that have also been very helpful :) am really looking forward to the day a forklift unloads Elder Scrolls on my doorstep :) (you're my one stop shop for Chip Theory Games in general... I'm an enormous fan of Cloudspire and burncycle, and your playthrouhs of those got me started on those games too :) )

Around 2:48:01 someone tried to roll their Heavy Armor die along with their sword/shield dice while in one handed battle form. I believe you have to be in defensive battle form in order to roll Heavy Armor dice.

I forget when it happened but the Blue player (sorry, I missed people's names) used his character ability to replace dice in cooldown with light fatigue. The first time I saw him use that ability, he had to add an additional light fatigue but the second (I think) time I saw him use it, he didn't add the extra light fatigue. I'm at 3:26 right now and the 2 light fatigue he currently has between the 2 magika dice should actually be 3 (if I understand the mechanism correctly). I don't think the combat that started at 3:15 should have had an Atronach as the first enemy. The combat card said the first enemy must be human.

Great playthrough! Kind of weird how they only have 3 spots for xp and you have to remember the rest. They have plenty of room to put 6 slots for xp and just make a symbol to remind to go back to 3 at end of day.
@devinmichael7935Ай бұрын
The reason they only have 3 slots is you immediately have to spend everything above 3 during the days reward phase in which you earned the exp.

2:05:00 Skyrim has humour of a similar ilk. Who doesn't laugh every time somebody says, "I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an arrow to the knee", or "those warriors from Hammerfell,? They've got curved swords. Curved. Swords", or even my personal favourite: (Lydia) "I am sworn to carry your burdens". Chip Theory Games seems the perfect partner to provide these little moments of humour.
@BoardGamecommentsАй бұрын
Excellent. I've been waiting for this for a while, it was a thoughly enjoyable 5 hours. You have so many other games to play, and this is a soloable game that's just going to be sitting there calling out to you. From a gameplay perspective, it was nice that everyone got off to a good start. The Archer started with a bow, the designated tank got Morag Tong Bracers and a Sword, and the Nightblade was able to train shadow very early on. The theme is a sweet spot where people that haven't played any Elder Scrolls games can still enjoy everything, but people that have played the games can go to towns that they've visited in a video game 500 years or so in the future. Some of the iconography also makes sense for people that've played the video game, for example: The summoning skill icon is an Oblivion Gate, it's a portal to what is effectively demon filled planes of hell. That icon is basically the entire box cover of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Then in Skyrim, that icon was used for summoning skill as it is in this game.

At 1:01:57 you said that you could Engage, Move and then Engage again. Are you sure that's allowed. As I've understood the P59 of the rules, you could engage as many times as you want, then Move. You could Move, then Engage as many times as you want. You could also Move and Move again. But not Engage, Move and then Engage again. Am I wrong?
@GamingRulesVideosАй бұрын
@@TheRealMrWolf actions can be taken in any order, so I believe engage, move, engage, engage, engage is allowed.

@gregkleinfall1901Ай бұрын
@@TheRealMrWolf I had the same question initially. CTG has actually confirmed Paul's assertion here both in BGG forums and on their discord channel. Their intent was to make sure people didn't "split" their movement to occur both before and after an engagement.
@TheRealMrWolfАй бұрын
@@gregkleinfall1901 Amazing, thank you both
@nickgiannini8860Ай бұрын
From the discord discussion I belive Shannon is rewriting this bit in the rulebook to make it clear that engage move engage and any variation aside from two moves and an engage is possible

Hi Paul. I have an impression that game gives bonuses to players kind of for free (It heals you in the morning, it gives you a loot in the market) and it makes game easier than it could be. With that I have a feeling that game plays by its own. I am used to situations where I have to drink a potion or cast a spell to heal myself or kill an enemy to get his sword or to pay to get a item. What do you think about it? I need to say that I didn't spent 5h to watch whole video unfortunatelly but just 30% of it. I wish my worries are not true because I am very interested in this game.
@GamingRulesVideos14 күн бұрын
It is common in games that there is some kind of healing at the end of the day. You don't automatically heal in battle without eating food or drinking a potion, but at the end of the day, you heal for 1HP and can remove a die from your tray. The game absolutely does not play "by its own". I'm not sure what you mean by that :) Just because you heal 1HP a the end of a day doesn't mean the game plays itself. As for the items... just imagine that enemies you kill have loot, and you sell that loot to get money to buy items. This game does exactly the same thing, but without bothering with the details of money. It just assumes you gain money for doing "things" and then you spend that money on items.
@FeldingorАй бұрын
Haven’t finished watching it yet, but man, you make it look like an easy game to learn Paul 😅 You also make it look like legendary items rain down like there’s no tomorrow 🤣🤣 In the first clash, where caches determined enemies defense value, I think that if you failed a lock pick you didn’t get the item anyway; the part on not discarding the cache compared to normal rules is to avoid an easy way out of high defence. Otherwise you could just waste all lockpick attempts without assigning any dice, call it a failure and discard the chip (thus decreasing enemies’ defence). Instead, you either succeed, get the item and discard the chip or fail, not get the item and the chip stays (so the enemies are still defended and you can have another go at opening the cache

3:58:45 Love the way there's total amorality and zero role-playing when it comes down to earning VP and winning! I have to say that the huge difference between this and TMB appears to be that in ES the party always has initiative. That would make my plays of TMB so much easier. The game does mirror its source quite well, in that your characters seem to very rapidly become OP. It's a total cakewalk so far!

Quick comment during watching: I think you may displace an active item to the backpack for the newly received item during an encounter. So far it looked like you immediately put it in the backpack without considering it.
