okay, I'll put my thoughts on the mod here It's presentation, ambience, and especially atmosphere is spot on! It really feels like being inside of a lovecraft story! Though I do have a few critiques if its okay. The monsters that chase you are nicely moddelled, but their movements seem a bit unpolished at times, and they didn't all that threatning at first, kinda slow and easy to out maneuver, but then I saw 55:55 which showed that they can be relentless and very scary if you just try to rush past them, so idk if that criticism really counts. Though the thing I think is the biggest problem was how the first monster just showed up right at the gates, as It kinda ruined the suspence from the intro. Maybe a way to fix this would be to just see a glimpse of the monster instead of it just being right there. But really, I feel that those are just minor issues that don't detract much from how amazing this mod is! Well done man, well done!

Ahhhh the good old days... I remember staying up and playing the shit out of Amnesia and it started my obsession and appreciation for horror and thrillers in general, not just for video games. Honestly, I don't know why people are being so hard on this one. It's like you guys haven't played Amnesia before, with the complaints about darkness and such. I think that it does what it set out to do quite well, and I think that the mood was pretty great, especially considering that it's an Amnesia mod. I'll admit that the voice acting was a bit rough, but it's better than most Amnesia mod voice acting, and it's clear that the mod author put heart and hard work into this. The Redheaded girl's voice acting was also much better, and I think the Protagonist's Voice acting got a bit better over time as well. I'm very curious about what was behind the statue-locked gate, and I'm interested in seeing what comes next. Good Job Mod Author, I think you did well.

Thanks for the kind words! To address the criticisms: Yes, I'm aware of all of these things. As a creator you have to accept certain flaws or else the game would be stuck in development hell forever. It took me (yes, me, this was a one person project with very little external help) almost 3 years to make this, and significant amount of that time went into collecting and modifying assets to fit as much as possible. Unfortunately, I'm not an artist and they clearly aren't perfect in fitting together. When it comes to voice acting - I wanted to try myself, and perhaps this wasn't the best occasion to do it. But hey, you live, you learn. When it comes to the plot - this mod really went through hell when it comes to that, so no wonder it's not the best. Also it's obviously not the entire story, so there's that.

I definitely agree. The game's atmosphere and sound design are very on par with Silent Hill. The straitjacket enemies are more terrifying than the ones in Silent Hill 2. The girl NPC out of nowhere gave me a good genuine jump scare.

I like the protagonist's Very Tired voice and the thought put into the simple story. The angry chairs are surprisingly frightening. The mini-shoggoths look like something you're meant to leap on like Mario, though, and the way The Girl's mouth doesn't move, her shirt is superglued to her chest, and she just turns into a disembodied voice is mood-breakingly funny. Lastly, kind of bemused ABG picked up the matress, determined it could move, then put it down again and threw himself down the bedroom culting hole, taking damage.

Lmao, I'm glad someone enjoyed my crusty voice acting. The thing is though, this engine REALLY was NOT created for NPCs. The way the rendering works makes her look bad, there are no cloth physics or anything, it's impossible to play animations unless the NPC always stands in one spot (and you can't play 2 at the same time), and the way I needed to hack around the engine to make her spawn and walk resulted in some bugs (e.g. the mesh not appearing) which even after a week of trying to fix I just couldn't get to consistently stop appearing. In other words, it's a miracle this NPC even exists, but I probably should have cut some features to make her simpler but functional. PS. The ragdoll physics which the matress uses are cursed and can break the game so it was actually quite wise :D

I’m not sure if it’s on purpose, but a couple areas/environments/etc look like high res areas/environments/etc from the Silent Hill games. The best example being the train cars looking identical to the subway car segment in SH3. Maybe it’s all on purpose or maybe it’s a step further than inspiration, either way, a lot of care went into this game and it looks really nice (Edit) that spider looks gnarly, I love that

That error screen at 6:36 is a weird little puzzle. Spoiler alert for those who want to figure this out themselves. If you’ve been solving various puzzles, you may recognize the message under “please try the following” as ROT13. You’d be wrong. Well, almost correct. It’s not quite ROT13, it’s ROT16. The message “myxfobd dro obbyb myno pbyw roh dy dohd”, using rot13.com/ with the ROT16 setting, turns out to be “convert the error code from hex to text”. The error code is “706c656173652073746f70”. My trained eye recognizes a pattern of an alternating digit 6 or 7 and a different hex digit, except where it’s exactly `20`. Already they are implicating that a lot of the danger is gonna be in your own mind, or at least the scares. I don't exactly mind when something in the game basically said "this is gonna be a psychological game" but Senua's Sacrifice subtly did that with the opening credits, not exactly having her admit that she has mental problems. Also, there's some slight political messaging by pointing out the rise in murders. But despite the game not exactly being subtle, it is an interesting thought; imagine if the protagonist of a Silent Hill game was aware that the monsters weren't real, that they were embellishments, but the pain would also be an embellishment, and you still would die if too many monsters touched you. Oh, and this game doesn't have a real ending, but it's only episode 1. Hopefully there's more to come.
