But then as the episode unfolds the truth of his issues come out, and he is really sweet. Although he does make some pretty sexist statements ie. Princess syndrome, henpecked etc when people are really just trying to work with him. I'm guessing being rejected by his family (not his wonderful mom but his brothers weren't there for him) and living with that condition, plus being run over by a tractor (poor man) has messed with his self esteem big time so he says that stuff to make himself feel more virile? The OCC's didn't make one comment about his gender.

Instead of buying things, I photograph them in the stores and in the catalogs. I can then still admire my "possessions", without spending a penny on them or turning my home into a clutter nightmare. I have 1 small storage room in my home now, anything which does not fit into the storage room, goes out. I did not wait for Mary Poppins to come and save me, I saved myself, and you can, too!

My Kitty Mina :3 right! I’m from the USA and I LOVE UK shows but they act like they aren’t as bad with things like hoarding, obesity, teen pregnancy and other things when in fact they are just as bad. I think the only things that really stand out to me in differences is that the UK seems to think it’s 100% ok and very common to smoke in the house with children on their laps. Also their benefits system compared to our welfare system gives people way more money, resources and allows people to collect it that the USA would never give it too.
@LolaTurlututu6 жыл бұрын

Vladimir Gonzalez Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) is a personality disorder that's characterized by extreme perfectionism, order, and neatness. People with OCPD will also feel a severe need to impose their own standards on their outside environment. I'm not sure how this relates to what Will has.
@davimatloff24976 жыл бұрын
Hey Charlie! It relates to will because not all people with OCPD or OCD are neat freaks. Both are defined as people who have obsessions that manifest into compulsions. For example, Will sees something online(obsession) which he has to buy(compulsions). Study shows that most people with OCD or OCPD are either neat freaks or hoarders. Hope that clears it up.
@averagetrailertrash6 жыл бұрын
To add to Davi's comment: Those with the perfectionism side of OCPD often struggle the most with actually putting it into practice. You get so obsessed with something being perfect that cleaning one dish, for instance, may take an entire day. It gets to the point where you have to avoid cleaning/etc. completely in order to function and take care of yourself and complete anything in a timely manner. To cope with the anxiety of being in an environment that now goes against your perfectionism, you pick up other compulsions -- such as impulse shopping and hoarding. These compulsions may make your environment worse, which worsens the anxiety, which worsens the compulsions, which worsen the environment... This is an obsessive-compulsive cycle. Obsessive-compulsive cycles are present in both OCPD and OCD; in the case of OCPD, the stress/anxiety is driven by morals / religion / perfectionism / expectations / etc., while in OCD it is mostly driven by intrusive thoughts and magical thinking. OCPD is a part of you (your personality) and often requires an intervention + a complete change in perceived identity. OCD is something that happens to you (a change in your mental state) and patients generally seek out treatment on their own.
@MJSinger105 жыл бұрын

It's very hard to live with either extreme. With the ladies, it would be constant confrontation and contention as they try to vacuum your hair and tell you to throw out all your stuff, etc. With Will, you would not be able sit down, you would constantly want to throw up, etc. I honestly don't know which is worse. I don't think I could do either. And yes, more than twice weekly I would think would be bad for dog's skin. I know stress brings out the worst in people, so maybe he's usually not like this, but the guy seemed to have certain old-fashioned prejudices against women. Whenever they were firm with him, he declared that they were "bossy", even "suffering from princess syndrome", and kept comparing them to hens. (Dunno about other places, but in the US, at least in the South, women can get compared to female chickens if they're considered talkative, bossy, or gossipy.) But the weirdest part was near the end, how he said he'd never had a girlfriend and mother who was like that. I mean, being overbearing is one thing, but speaking your mind, showing leadership, and doing what it takes to get the job done are all considered generally good things in America. But, like many Southern men (especially older ones), this guy seems to be more comfortable with submissive women. As an American, please believe me when I say that most of us are not like this! Also, this was a great episode.

My mother was a very bad hoarder like this man. She was an absolute nightmare to put up with and let me say this, we cleaned her house and decluttered it two times. In no time at all, she turned it right back to the way it was. Her house looked like the city dump and it was infested with vermin. It finally stopped when she was put into a nursing home. From my personal experience, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get these people to live clean and clutter free. I threw my arms up in the air and realized my mother was a lost cause.
@tonibauer29495 жыл бұрын
Only with the hoarder’s access and commitment to therapy is there real hope for a change. Just going in and clearing and cleaning doesn’t work.
