I couldn't believe all the requirements for having guns there! Even before this! Wow! I am pro gun control here in US, but the idiots in power won't do it. I am afraid to send my kids to school. I have lost 3 friends to gun violence, and my daughter nearly lost her father when he was shot 5 times but miraculously survived when she was just 2 years old. Its become all too common here and gets worse and worse. I am considering home schooling my youngest and pulling elder daughter out. I have already had to talk to mu kids about what we would do in a shooting situation. Everytime we go somewhere in a big store or places with lots of people, the first thing I do is identify 2 exit routes and an emergency exit and share them with my kids with a tentative plan in case shit goes down. Needless to say, it puts a damper on outings so we don't go places much. That's sad.

Meredith Duff I can’t imagine what it must be like in America and how scared people must be to do normal things. I’m from Germany and a school in my town once had a lockdown because there was a man with a knife on school grounds. But no one got hurt idk what happened with him tho. I watched a lot of documentaries about school shootings after I watched glee and I had nightmares for weeks. I have to add that my dad and I watched horror movies since I can remember so I’m really the last person to get scared by things like this but honestly that terrifies me so much
@Corinthians1614
@Corinthians1614 4 жыл бұрын
Meredith Duff It’s so frustrating. I live in Massachusetts and honesty I think all states should adopt out *strict* gun laws. Intense mental health test, gun safety classes (which is vigorous), background checks, you have to sit down with a police officer and have a full ass convo, and then they hand deliver your license to you at your house so they know you actually live there. There’s more I’m not remembering. I believe our state is the strictest and I believe it’s why our gun violence is super low. You can’t completely ban guns, as it impedes with the constitution, but damn we can make it hard.
@strwrs3m64
@strwrs3m64 4 жыл бұрын
MsRainbowglitter the crazy thing is a lot of people use the argument “you can’t take away guns blah blah blah 2nd amendment” and “criminals will get guns anyway”. Like aren’t a lot of the school/mass shootings done by people who haven’t taken any criminal action yet and got guns before? And nobody is trying to ban all gun ownership, they just wanna make it harder so people can be safe.

@@marissam3176 That's easily solved. The same way as bad people did not want to give them up in the UK, nor in Australia, nor New Zealand. The laws become tougher. If you are caught with a gun you get a mandatory sentence and the gun is destroyed. It doesn't take long before they are off the streets, as other nations have proven. If you want an illegal weapon on the black market, it costs far more than most criminals can afford and they soon vanish.

@@isla3629 I won’t attack you, don’t worry. I just think it’s important to look at this matter with a lens of reality. Guns will never go away and that’s just a fact. It’s wishful thinking to want guns to be banned entirely. It just won’t ever happen. Gangs and bad people will get them no matter what cuz they don’t care about laws. The only people that will be negatively affected by baning guns are people that follow the law. Again, bad people already don’t follow the law and will acquire guns illegally. Also, I personally want guns for my safety not only to protect me from other people with guns but also any other form of attacker/weapon. Being a small person, a large man with a knife could easily hurt me and take my life away. A gun is the only thing that would put me on an equal playing field in that type of scenario. I respect your opinion but I just don’t think it’s realistic.

My guess is this guy was severely depressed, along with other issues, he wanted to kill himself but also didn't want to. So he got himself into a situation where it was impossible to get out of and nothing to live for: burning his house, killing his dog, killing his mother, killing people and facing a life in prison. I think that is why he asked if his mom was dead and the body count, it would have been the evidence his suicidal side would need to over ride the survival instinct that kept him alive up to that point. The cognitive dissonance between wanting to live and wanting to die was too torturous and he snapped. Not defending him in any way but that's what I think the thought process might have been.

36:19 (ish) - I’m a nurse and when I was in school for nursing I was shocked to find out that bullets are fairly rarely removed from surviving victims! It’s not like in shows or movies where they always seem to take it out! Unless the bullet absolutely needs to come out (for evidence, it’s in an unstable state/area - things like that), if they come across it during surgery to repair the damage, or years later if it’s causing issues will they actually remove it. I live in Canada in a smaller town and haven’t worked in the ER (A&E in the UK) so I haven’t had any personal experience with gunshot victims and it might be different in bigger cities or the States, but as far as I know, surgeons won’t go digging for a bullet! It could be an extra and unnecessary surgery or incision with extra risks to find it and remove it. As long as it’s not causing imminent damage, it’s generally okay to stay right where it is! The body will either reject it later on (needing surgical removal), will form a capsule around it and accept it being there, or even in some cases the body will slowly remove the bullet itself! Slowly pushing it out toward the skin where it will either come to a stop and encapsulate under the skin, or actually be slowly pushed completely out of the body! The human body really is fascinating!

@@14beans lead poisoning is definitely a concern following gunshot wounds when the bullet is left in the person, or if fragments chip off and stay in the body. It’s often an overlooked issue too. The risk changes depending on the type of bullet, where in the body it is, and the length of time it is in the body, but it is still a real concern and a good point that you bring up!

Miss Lee KZbinrs usually like the early comments on videos because theyre the first ones they see. Most of the comments she liked were posted as soon as this was uploaded. When people comment on videos straight away, they havent watched the full video and wont have heard the story yet, so their comments will most likely be about Eleanor and her videos, rather than respecting the victims. Most people will post respectful comments for the victims after the video (or during). You cant really blame her for liking 'tactless' comments, because when this was newly uploaded, people wouldnt have commented many respect to the victims comments.

As horrifying as the whole thing is, I think it's pretty interesting psychologically that he went out of his way to destroy all he would have left behind, his mother and his home, but never physically harmed any children. Without a background of any red flags and mental health issues makes it so different from other shooters. usually they want it to be known why they did it (political, sexual frustration, etc.) but he left nothing. It sounded like he wanted to make sure his mom was gone before he shot himself. So strange.

I lived in Hungerford when this happened. I lived in an apartment above the local store. I came home and seen a couple cars wrecked and immediately get back in my car and drove to the Air Base we were stationed at to be with my husband. Something I will never forget!

Hanna Lucas I was talking about timing in terms of the videos, I didn’t mean any disrespect to anyone who was affected. Don’t look so deep into things love

Hanna Lucas I don’t think they mean the murders were perfect, they mean that the timing is perfect because they just watched the last one and then this one came out
