SO GLAD YOU COVERED THIS! Extra info: Jeremy and Sheila were adopted, and not actually blood family. June was religious to the point of of obsession. Jeremy didn’t really want to take over the family business and run the farm, he was more interested in cars, women and drinking. Sheila hated guns. The police didn’t enter the property for hours and hours as they thought they saw a curtain twitch in the farm house window, they assumed the shooter was still alive. Jeremy also called his girlfriend before he called the police, and even then he didn’t ring 999, the emergency number. He instead rung the local,police office number. I’ve been obsessed with this case for years. Read all the books. And I still don’t know what to believe. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts. I spent my whole street in criminal justice. I specialised in working with murderers, so I would like to think I’m quite well informed. But I really really don’t know what the truth is. I lean towards the brother though.

Sorry, ALSO forgot to mention that Jeremy said he had been shooting rabbits that night. Hence his fingerprints and his gun out. AND it was reported that the night of the shootings, June allegedly told Sheila that she was going to go for custody of the two young boys, as Sheila was incapable of being a good mum because of her mental illness.

One of the weirdest things to me is how they say Sheila's motive was to kill her mother. Her mother sustained the least injuries and the least brutal death with only one gunshot rather than 8 with her father and 8 between the two boys. That to me makes it so obvious that she did not do it.

I'm of the opinion this is one of the greatest miscarriages of justice of the 21st century. An embittered girlfriend who realised Jeremy was no longer interested in staying in the relationship received an amazing pay off from a national newspaper and was integral into Jeremy being charged for a crime imo that he did not commit. A mentally ill sister (they were both adopted and both had different birth parents) who was not taking her medication. Covered up botched crime reports that were hidden! Extended family received the inheritance money which was gone through at lightening speed. There is a Jeremy Bamber group who are fighting to this day for evidence to be released which would prove his innocence. Just Google and links will come up. An absolute travesty

I don't even find it that hard to get the gun where he did if she was lying down. I'm not sure why that was an argument. Isn't that where you would probably place a gun if the person is lying down? I'd probably have to see the exact angles, but it doesn't sound like a weird placement to me considering her position. It sounds weirder for HER to be the one in that position doing it.

That said, I also don't think they have the evidence necessary to convict him. A lot of it is hearsay and circumstantial stuff, and it sounds like they destroyed most of the evidence immediately because they didn't collect it. So, I also just don't think they have what they need for a conviction, and he's convicted more because people think it's true than because they had the concrete evidence to prove it. Do I think it's quite probable? Yes. But I didn't hear anything convincing enough to convict. At least, not by the US justice system. I don't know about the UK.

considering both their fingerprints were on the silencer, it seems plausible that he pointed the gun at her, she grabbed the end of it to try to redirect the shot/pull it away from him, and they had a physical struggle over the gun that ended with him wrestling her to the ground and then shooting. that could potentially explain the awkward positioning.

@@emeryltekutsu4357 it doesn’t make sense that she’d have no blood on her feet if she was the one really walking around massacring people.. also hard to believe based on what she looks like that she’d be able to overpower and beat the dad not to mention the silencer being returned downstairs after the death. this is why we have a jury, some people may not see it the same and makeup excuses in their head but it’s quite obvious here that he did it.

Hi Elenor Neele. I've never heard of this case probaly because I live in U.S. I think Sheila or Jeremy, either one could've done the murder because they both had hatred toward their parents. Each had a motive of greed & jealousy of one another to see who the favorite child was obviously. Her mother was too fanatical, never making for a healthy enviroment in any situation. Honestly, this is such a sad case. And the thing with Sheila's schizophrenia being an umbrella term reminds me of how I might've been diagnosed the same way if I'd been alive in the 80s because many autistic women were misdiagnosed with schizophrenia 🥺

I mean it is a thing today, in my country autism is considered to be a children's diagnosis, and when you turn 18 in overnight it turns into schizophrenia. There's just a handful of specialists who are willing to diagnose it in adults (I was 22 at the time), and they're private, not state doctors.
@allasperans3984

@@hannahabbot4250 yeah, it is also kinda the case in russia. I was in a psychiatric hospital and had a severe sensory overload made worse by nurses. Most of the nurses there were actually really good, but this time it was a particularly unlucky shift for me. And they did compare me with schizophrenic patients afterword and in the moment, even though I said I was autistic and my psychiatrist believes it too, he just can't diagnose me bc I'm an adult

In the 70's and 80's, the medical establishment still believed autism was a male(AMAB)disorder and rarely occurred in females(AFAB). I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and my sister was diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorder. We were not appropriately diagnosed with autism until 20 years later. They are still learning how different autism presents in girls than boys.

if she was holding a rifle, absolutely she could have, he may have tried to wrestle it away from her. he wasn't a spring chicken. Marks on his back could have been from anything, maybe not even from that night. there's not enough forensic evidence here to know. and yes she could have shot herself twice. its happened before, she would have had to pull the trigger with her thumb because the rifle is backwards, your thumb would get stuck in the trigger and the first shot can cause a jerking reaction by the body and the thumb can pull the trigger again. triggers are super sensitive. the easiest way to do that with a rifle is lie down so you don't have to hold the weight of the rifle. like I said, not enough info about exactly how she was found. rifle lying on body or fallen away on floor???????? so we can't really make a decision. the blood on the silencer could have been from anytime, they didn't find it on the night or the next day. he finger prints were on it, so she has touched it at some point. and no one who plans out a murder like that takes a silencer off and hides it in the murder house. they get rid of it. he would have had to be an idiot to do that and were his finger prints on the gun. they should have been because he said it was left at the house for when he and his dad went shooting. Too much fluff evidence and nothing hard. O that alone, whether you think he did it or not, the justice system says, "without any doubt" is the only way a jury is able to convict.
@lenamariejackson
@lenamariejackson Жыл бұрын
@@jodienovello5881 although i agree with you that there’s not enough evidence to draw a confident conclusion when it comes to this case, this comment did brush over some pretty damning evidence. Sheila shooting herself twice, the silencer etc etc can all be answered for, albeit quite far fetched. however, Jeremy choosing the police station phone number (which would be an 11 digit phone number) over dialling 999 is very curious. not only that, but he didn’t call the station straight away either, he called his girlfriend between the time this alleged phone call from his dad happened and the phone call to the station, why would he call his girlfriend first? the dad being frantic about Sheila going ‘crazy’ with the gun around the house, but the twins being found in bed, not noticing the alleged commotion? i think Sheila’s blood being on the silencer is also being massively downplayed here. besides that, i’m with you, i don’t think there’s enough evidence to say it was definitely Jeremy, but i think he had a lot of explaining to do and absolutely no cover story for it.

Actually, this may seem totally weird, but calling the police is not usually the first thought of wealthy English landowners. “Old money” types. They didn’t want policemen poking around their house, looking in all the cupboards and asking impertinent questions. That generation are also very private people and do not like being the subject of a scandal. The idea of calling another family member would be that they can come over and help and then help hush it up. “Keeping it in the family”. I know it sounds really strange to most people, but the first thought of wealthy landowners in England is often their reputation.

What I also found really strange is that Jeremy claims to have heard gunshots on the call with his dad. I was **immediately** suspicious of Jeremy. What brother/son would call the police based on an assumption that his family was dead --- murdered by his sister? The daughter/sister/mother is painted as unstable, so that explains this sadistic bloodshed? Without being home, Jeremy, knows something horrible happened, he's frantic to get there, and he KNOWS who did it!! In spite of UK folks being so sweetly mannered and not harsh skeptics (lol, like us bitter Americans), I thought it weird the police were so quick to wrap up the initial murder-suicide.

Little did my mam know that he was already up our end of the country and he'd went to see some friends from school at a house party. Early hours of May 1st 2009, he got into a little bit of an argument with someone. Now I'm not going to sit here and say my brother was an angel because he wasn't, they got into an argument over weed of all things. The man he was arguing with accused my brother of stealing his stash and he never did, my brother told him to back off and just leave it, to which the other person (his name is Liam Keith Hall) proceeded to attack my brother. Now Liam was a cage fighter at the time (he's since had his fighting license revoked) and he brutally attacked my brother, punched him once in the temple and it automatically killed him, he then proceeded to jump on top of my brother's body and punch his face some more when he was already dead. He fled into the woods and it was his family that handed him into the police. I was 9 when this happened, my younger brother being 7 and he had a daughter at only 4 years old. If you want to read about it, here is one of the many news articles: www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/fourth-man-arrested-connection-death-1453895 Thank you for taking interest in his case, I'd absolutely love one day for Eleanor to cover it 💕

Thank you for bringing this case to our attention Eleanor. I appreciate the way that you focus on the victims in the cases that you cover because tragically, a lot of times people remember the perpetrators more than they remember the innocent people that had their lives taken away from them far too soon. And I think justice was served.

I’ve actually just started going back and watching the series with Mark Addy and Stephen Graham. It truly is a sad story and I find it so unbelievable that Jeremy would commit these horrible murders out of greed and just go on with life as usual after the murders were committed. Good on Anne (the cousin) and Stan Jones (the police detective that Mark Addy played) for doing what the police failed to do. If it wasn’t for them, Jeremy would have never been caught and sentenced to life in prison.

Something to note… Jeremy had the police burn things at the scene when they were collecting the bodies. Not sure of the context but he basically told them it would help him calm down. Sheila’s husband drive her to her parents house and said that the kids really didn’t like going there and we’re quite scared of there grandma as she was very strict and religious. Thank you for sharing this horrible story, had never heard of it before. I can only tell you about what I think. I think if Sheila did this, she would have put several bullets in the mother and one in the father and the boys. This case is so interesting! I do think Jeremy did it, I wasn't so sure in the beginning but what makes me think he is the culprit it's cuz it sounds so weird to me that Sheila had so many problems with her mother, yet the father was the one that got beat up? Idk, I feel like if Sheila really was mad with her mother as Jeremy said she was, then the mother would have gotten the worse end of it instead of the father no? Or at least both of them, it makes no sense that he said that the mother had the fight that set Sheila off yet she was shot once, if that makes sense.

What made me believe that Jeremiah/Jeremy, was in fact the killer was that he was jealous of his elder sister, Sheila, most probably because she was the firstborn child of the adopted family, hence she would be having more power and control of the family business and it's money would mostly go to her and not Jeremy, maybe some of it would go but not all of it. Also, what kind of killer can go through lengths to shoot themselves twice in the neck, that's just not possible, especially if it's a shotgun, this clearly shows that Sheila was innocent the entire time even though she had some mental problems, not what Jeremy described about her though. Sheila even looks innocent, look-wise, she's small, petite, and fragile. She can be easily overpowered and handled whereas Jeremy who's much taller, stronger and has guts to kill someone in cold blood because of his violent and toxic and narcissistic nature can obviously be the one who's guilty for all 5 deaths, nonetheless. I say he's 100% the true killer here and he should rot and die in jail where he so rightfully belongs. Even his actions are unacceptable and foolish!
@Miimika
@Miimika Жыл бұрын
@@shaunessyalmeida2212 Yes yes yes! The gun too was so odd to me. I could *probably* have believed it if it was a small gun, sure maybe you can fail a shot and shoot again. But a whole shotgun? On the neck of all places? Even if you miss the shot there's no way you have it in you to shot again. I didn't really thought the money was a motive until the ex girlfriend said he joked about being the sole heir outside of the family circle, joking about it is so bad tbh but saying those kind of things behind your family's back? Hell no. I'm so glad he got caught and sentenced.

The fact that the family member who found the silencer wanted to keep it quiet is very interesting.
