Pretty broken that the minimum power of all your moves before Whitney is 70 thanks to all 3 elemental punches.

I think TM availability really hurts the starmie line in gen 2. Johto is one of my favorite regions to watch, and my absolute least favorite to play. I know this is way down at the “end of the line” but when you inevitably move to gen 4, I think it’ll be really awesome to see the differences in runs of the same line. Thanks for the shoutout 🎉

Starmie has a lot of things working against it in Gen 2 - the learnset definitely doesn't help, though! I'm not sure if I'm ever gonna do Gen IV as I don't have any way of displaying the in-game data using my style of overlay. I could always see how the line does with a later-gen learnset at some point, though.

There was something deeply satisfying about finishing the run at level 70 and receiving 7700 pokedollars.

I wonder if Dynamic Punch would have been better than Return for Electabuzz for Red Battle, to punch a sleeping bear in the mouth
@SquidgyКүн бұрын
Probably not, no. We wouldn't have one-shot with DynamicPunch and it would've been highly unlikely to two-shot either, and with the 50% accuracy of DynamicPunch, we'd have likely been Body Slammed and paralyzed more often than we got through the Snorlax.

Doesn't even need a heal from Nurse Joy to get through the Elite 4!

Electabuzz is my favorite electric type, for sure! A great coverage. It is my favorite of the line! Especially in gen 2! Snorlax is the only big challenge.

That Whitney luck was just cruel. 1 in 32 chance to miss 5 turns in a row. Starmie is one you'd think would be good because it is in competitive and it helps highlight the difference between the two game modes. In the solo run context its slow exp group and gets its best coverage after Lance If you dont mind a quick question which Pokémon would you say could get the best time if you reran it with your current skill level?
@Squidgy3 күн бұрын
I reckon if I was playing at my best, I could probably get a significantly better time with either Ursaring or Porygon2. Those two are very strong Pokémon and I still think there's a lot of time to save with the pair of them.
@Kanbei113 күн бұрын
@@Squidgy thanks for the answer. Porygon2 I think would do well at the third time of asking. It's still a champion in my eyes
@Squidgy3 күн бұрын
Porygon2 is one of those Pokémon which always ends up lost in the mix for me. It was a great Pokémon every time we ran it, but it never felt memorable! I've got a Porygon run lined up for the Little Cup next year, so I'll plonk in a Porygon2 redo and a Porygon-Z backport around about the same time!

Hi Squidgy, I do apologize. I may have missed when you started doing it? what is the HP UP strategy that you use against Umbreon? What does it mean? Thank you sir!
@Squidgy2 күн бұрын
Hey! I explain it every so often in passing, but it's easily missed! The HP Up strategy is something we discovered within the last few months. When you use a HP Up, your maximum HP will increase, but your current HP won't increase along with it. That means you enter the Karen fight with less than full HP. Going in with less than full HP makes Karen slightly less likely to use Sand-Attack (which cannot be countered by any held item) and more likely to use Confuse Ray (which can be countered by the Bitter Berry) instead. It's only a very small change in the odds, but we've found it's definitely worth it, as you have a higher chance of getting through the battle without any accuracy drops.
