If you take the restriction off the bike will go 28 miles per hour. Many electric bikes are restricted to 20 miles per hour because electric bikes going faster than 20 are no longer legally considered bicycles. However, 20 miles per hour on a beach cruiser with no suspension is probably fast enough.

Nice review. I like what they are doing at the EBC but wish they had some traditional diamond frames. Imagine a Rad mission with this motor.

Thanks for the review. I want one! I love my Model X, but would love a step-thru. Are you sure about the pant job? I thought they only painted their custom colors......?, hence the extra charge for them. Also I personally think a twist throttle would be awkward on these swept back parallel bars PS. I am from La Crosse, WI, but sure am happy I now live and ride every day in Florida , so I got the higher (16 tooth ) rear gear. It is so smooth and comfortable at high speeds. Keep up the good work! I was anxious to see this bike reviewed.

Hi Arel - thanks for watching. I did ask about the paint job specifically and this was the response I got: "Yes, we can paint the bikes any color the customer wants, right here at our paint booth in Orange County, California." So I guess that doesn't confirm it 100% - I just kind of assumed. You make a great point about the twist throttle on the swept back bars - not something I thought of. Nice to hear from a former Wisconsite. We too usually make the trip down to Florida during the winter months if at all possible (earlier this year for 7 weeks which was incredible!). We are always looking for family friendly places to explore in Florida that don't have too much of a big city feel - if you have any tips I'd be happy to hear them. Glad you are enjoying your Model X.

If you click on the bike it gives you standard colors. If you click on design yours you get all color options and will get charged if you start picking non standard colors 😉

Did you ever do range tests on this? Trying to decide what battery option I want. What size battery is in yours?

This is the 12Ah - should be good for 20 miles pretty easily but 50 miles is definitely a stretch. I have not done a range test. $399 is a lot in my opinion for only a slightly larger battery (12Ah -> 14Ah)

I FIND IT FUNNY that you are testing a beach bike on the snow makes you long for those hazy, lazy days of summer again, doesn't it? They call it a beach bike, but it wont work in the sand, unless it is really hard packed. Should be called a boardwalk bike instead.

I agree - these bikes are meant for the boardwalk - not sand. I'm handling the cold and snow ok for now but I'll be itching to go south in a couple of months.
