The Electric Bike Company Model E is a high quality, fairly affordable, step-thru cruiser ebike with 24" or 26" wheels, wide stable balloon tires, and highly adjustable stem and handlebar. Assembled and customized in America, great customer service, industry leading five year comprehensive warranty! Ships fully assembled, 100% ready to ride on day one. Extra emphasis on charger and battery quality, lots of battery capacity upgrades for long-range riding or heavy throttle use. High 350lb max weight rating. Comes standard with bright integrated lights and reflective puncture-resistant tires. You can order optional paint-matched fenders with reflective rubber ends. Optional rear rack and front basket add utility (both rated at 50lbs). Powerful 180mm hydraulic disc brakes with dual piston calipers, adjustable-reach levers, and motor inhibitors. Premium branded saddle and black or brown locking grips. Highly adjustable drive modes offer Class 1, 2, or 3 operation (pedal assist, throttle, and 28mph options). The variable speed trigger throttle is easy to use, and the sealed 12-magnet cadence sensor performs consistently. Long steel handlebar, vibration-dampening steel fork, and high-volume tires provide good comfort, but EBC also sells an optional seat post suspension for further comfort. Purpose built frame hides wires and cables, the battery completely disappears into the downtube, but the frame only comes in one size. Shipping costs $199 extra, unless you're able to visit their headquarters in Newport Beach California to buy in person. The 7-speed drivetrain, custom paint, racks, alarm system, and other extras all cost extra. The frame-mounted headlight doesn't turn as you steer, kickstand causes pedal lock, no bottle cage bosses.

Received the Model E. Lovely bike. I haven't ridden it yet, but have a major grip. The serial number is impossible to read. To acquire insurance, I attempted to verify the serial number. The location under the crank is literally covered by wires on my bike, thus covering the serial number. In the case of theft or a quick check for insurance, verifying the serial is impossible without doing some dismantling SMH. Quailty control.

Wait, how is the chain tensioned on this? I can see that the drop outs aren't perfectly vertical so I suspect it's tensioned through rear rear lateral displacement. In that case a narrow wide chainring wouldn't be necessary and the chain would never come off even in rough terrain.

You’re exactly right… unless the seven speed upgrade is chosen. In that case, the chain has slack and the basic derailleur could lead to some drops since there’s no guide or NW chainring. For most cruising, it’s probably not a big deal.

For the price point this is an excellent, well built and well thought out ebike. Love the design with the fully integrated battery (a must imo!). The only thing I didn't like is the unwieldy handlebar. Really overkill with the massive sweep back. Really will be difficult to move or store it in tight spaces in the garage for example or on the bike rack. Great review again and love the outro music, Court.

It still seems that you only like love throttle option rather than the power pedal assist option am I right or am I wrong or do you like both the throttle option or the power assist level

Well, there are certain situations where it’s nice to have a throttle. These cruisers tend to have large saddles and be more upright. They are also heavier. For people who might be more relaxed, less athletic, or have the saddle set very low, the throttle helps to make starting and riding easier. It also comes in handy for fat tire bikes when riding through sand or other soft terrain. Pedal assist is nice to have, and some regulations limit where throttles are allowed so maybe PAS is the only option. In these cases, it’s nice to have a dynamic responsive extension of your legs feeling vs a basic cadence sensor or a throttle.

Good question, perhaps you can find some advice in the forums? I don’t have a trailer or child carriers, and I think they might use different attachments. Perhaps the people who work at Electric Bike Company could recommend certain trailers etc. that work well.

They take away your right to take them to court in the contract, so take that for what you will. You can settle disputes only with an arbitrator, which is a really business friendly method of settling disputes, and you have to go to orange county, California for it. Then, if you lose the dispute, you owe them for their lawyer fees and arbitration fees. The whole system is a mess for consumers to the benefit of businesses. It shows that they don't stand by their product if they feel the need to take away their customers' right to settle disputes through court during the buying process.

I think these guys ship fully assembled to make it easy to get going. Their bikes tend to be heavier and wider, so that probably adds to the cost as well... One option is to drive to Newport Beach and buy it in person to save the $199 :D

They ship via freight. A complete bike arrives strapped to a pallet. FedEx and ups aren’t destroying your bike before delivery. You want free shipping drive there and pick up. You’ll probably spend more on gas.

@@petemcschwagly4558 reminds me of the 150cc scooter i ordered from CA. came on a pallet locked in a metal cage, scooter was dropped at the bottom of my driveway, and it took like 4 hours to unscrew all the nuts that were holding the metal cage together. in 4 hours i could of assembled 10 bikes from scratch. the cargo company pumped the fuel lines full of Vaseline via federal regulations (BTW the scooter company didn't mention the Vaseline)...took another 4 hours to clean the fuel lines and get the thing started -wasted like 10 hours just to get the thing started...i'll take a partially assembled bike with free fed ex or ups any day
