I think drills are very underrated power tools. You could convert them into many things as a main power source.

Seems like it would be much better to use it in a pulling configuration instead of pushing. Much less sensitive to steering errors

The only thing is if fish and game catch you doing that and the kayak isn't registered as a powered craft you can get a ticket. Yes they consider even that as a trolling motor. It happened to me in TN

Kind of a gray area, because it's not affixed to the watercraft. If you only used it to fight the wind, the CO might be merciful.

Here in sc you don't need anything registered under 5hp

Didn’t think about sharks! Yikes. There are more and more companies that make kayak motors I think. As batteries and solar get better it’s going to be fun!

Hast du schon mal Getestet wie lange der Akkuschrauber Hält bis das Getriebe kaputt ist oder Heiß läuft oder Elektronik durchbrennt .. ich baue auch gerade einen Akku Drill Boot Motor mit einem RYOBI Akku Drill .

I’ve run the Dewalt till the built-in circuit turns it off before it burns out. Unfortunately I didn’t time it but you can imagine that these drills are all meant for the job of screwing in the screws so depending on how hot the day is, it’s going to overheat pretty quick on full power without a break. The tactic I used was to run the drill to get the boat up to speed and then coast for a while, and repeat. That kept it from overheating.

@@calebjc OK ich habe es heute getestet mit einem RYOBI Akkuschrauber 3 stunden Dauerbetrieb 2x 5 ah Akkus leer gefahren mit 1/3 Leistung er hat durchgehalten nicht Abgeschaltet nicht Warm geworden das Getriebe bei dem Modell ist aus Metall und auch das Getriebe Gehäuse .ich habe auch gedacht das er Abraucht und den Dienst Quittiert Abkackt. ich habe den Akkuschrauber Neu gekauft für dieses Experiment wenn er Kaputtgegangen wäre ..Jo hat ja 3 Jahre Garantie . Und nen neuen bekommen.😁😁😂😂🤣🤣🦕🦕

Yeah, depends on how heavy the boat is and the wind but after about a minute with no break, there’s a circuit in the drill that shuts it off before it overheat. Soy what works is to use pulses of Say 10 seconds and then coast for a while and then 10 seconds

It's an old Dewalt DCD985. But don't get a hammer drill version. Just a regular drill. I think you could use something less expensive like: Dewalt DCD771B 20V MAX

What if you turned the prop backwards could you pull yourself
