I was also at this amazing show. I screamed like a girl when George came on. Seeing my fave Beatle with my fave band was too much to handle!

Great to see this again. Sadly, this is the BBC edited version of the show. I was lucky enough to have attended that show, which remains to this day, the best concert I have ever been to. By the way, they opened the show with 'Prologue' which went straight into 'Twilight' not 'Telephone Line'. Amazing opening, great light & laser displays. Great show !

estoy de acuerdo pp pero t fijas que esta muy mal que los grupos o bandas se desintegren y ya no es lo mismo como que se pierde el encanto de aquellos no crees?

To criticize Kelly is to insult Jeff. Jeff had enough sense to know Kelly was the perfect fit as a bassist for his vision, and that Kelly's voice was amazing and the perfect compliment for Jeff's voice. ... so much that Jeff had him sing on practically every track, doubling parts and sometimes having him sing parts and songs alone. And when performing live, he gave Kelly extra duty, having him sing the higher parts that Kelly was more capable of doing. He did this because it was a safer strategy, knowing Kelly had a higher range and could handle it, and knowing that having Kelly help him with vocal duties would help him keep his own voice for the duration of the concert tour. Jeff was the producer, and he chose Kelly, used Kelly to make his vision a reality. Such is Jeff's great judgment, to spot great talent and to put it to best use. So to make negative comments about Kelly's abilities does not make any sense. If he was good enough to be used by Jeff Lynne, then he's good enough for the rest of us. KZbin.com is full of live recordings of his amazing voice... and we have ELO, and other groups records that he sang and played on as well. Jeff and Kelly had a falling out in later years, (presumably because he contributed so much and felt he deserved more) and that is all there is to that.

I didn't see the negative stuff. But I liked Kelly and several of the songs on the album "Kelly" sounded just like ELO. Its a shame the Kelly album was full of poor audio and distortion. I really like "Am I a dreamer".

Dhani Harrison gives a memorable description of this concert in his R&R Hall of Fame intro for the the band. He was 7 or 8 years old and seeing ELO and then seeing his father jump on stage with them made quite the impression.

I was there too still got the programme, Great day great line up, felt sorry for the moody blues, they headlined the whole thing but they had to follow ELO, and as jasper said first time in 4 years ELO played together, it was an ELO crowd they stormed it.

I was there too. 18 yrs old studying at 'the Lanch'. I remember going for a pee whilst UB40 were playing Red Red Wine! One of the bands who were very good on the day but never mentioned were the fortunes. I also remember people screaming out for Robert Plant to play Led Zep songs (which he didn't!!!)

Dopiero po kilku latach znowu reaktywowano dwa zespoły ELO part two i Electric Light Orchestra Jeffa Lynna.

The best live performance I've ever seen. Jeff is singing perfectly...better than in studio . Sad that it is so short . Ther's no Elo without Jeff. The rest (Orkestra. Part II etc) is bad copy . Kelly was shame in the group...
@casidiablo6657 жыл бұрын
Stop your fanatism. OrKestra, ELO Part II and The Orchestra made some great music. And without Kelly Groucutt, ELO would have been just like any other plain band.

No offense and Kelly was great but he didn't write the songs. Jeff did and Kelly didn't join the band until Eldorado. Jeff was the indispensable one.
