ELO como en un equipo de fútbol ha tenido muchos jugadores, pero los famosos integrantes fueron desde 1974 a 1980. Kelly Groucott (bajo y coros) Richard Tandy (Sintetizadores y coros) , Hugh McDowell (Violonchelo 1) Melvin Gale (Violonchelo2) MiK Kaminski (Violín), Jeff Lynne (Guitarra electrica ,voz líder, coros) Bev Bevan (batería y coros).

Biz, this was ELO's only Disco song, released at the end of the craze, in 1979. To get back to the ELO you love, I suggest you react next to their 1976 classic, *"Tightrope".* It's totally dope, to put it in your words. :D ps~Thanks for diving head-first into the ELO rabbit hole, it's a deep one, for sure!

That group is amazing! I went to one of their concerts. Jeff Lynne is a brilliant singer and song writer. He was with the Travellers Wilburys...another wonderful group that included Jeff, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan and George Harrison. So sad 3 of them have passed away. They were fantastic in their own right.

Totally unique sound. For a deeper cut I'd suggest "Can't Get it Out of My Head", or maybe "Confusion". This song and "Funky Town" came out within a couple of months of each other, so it's not surprising if there's a slight similarity in sound and style. "Last Train..." was heavily sampled in the early 2000s for a song by Atomic Kitten ("Be With You").

Neither, "Can't Get It Out of My Head", nor, "Confusion", are deep cuts. Both were singles that hit the Top 10 and Top 40, respectively. Having set the record (pardon the pun) straight on that point, yes I agree, they are both good suggestions.

This is most certainly a "disco song" and one of the things that made this group slightly distinct was the fact it was created around the concept of the band being an "orchestra" all of the members were multi-instruments. Just take Jeff Lynne alone, he played something like seven different instruments he played guitar, bass, piano, keyboards, Cello, drums, percussion. And this band was a very big influence on the disco era. Jeff Lynne was very diverse in his music and incredibly talented, which he shows in his ability to cross over into many styles of music. Great reaction Biz

ELO was not a big influence on the Disco era. Disco grew out of Philly Soul. By the time this song came out in '79, Disco was all but over. And it's ELO's only Disco song.

@@mamaflush9945 No you have it backwards Disco had an influence on Jeff Lynne the chief songwriter and producer of the group as it had a influence on a lot of other artists at the time (Check out Rod Stewart's "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" and as did Rod Stewart and other artists at the time they suffered backlash from fans for going the Disco route Listen great artist like Jeff Lynne are fans of music just like us regular people and of course are going to be influenced to the musical trends at the time To more push this point across by the close of the 70s New Wave and electronic music were coming into prominence in the early 80s Check out ELOs next studio album after Discovery (which Last Train to London was on) Time released in 1981and you will see my point.

Love ya Biz!! Don't quit your day job. 😅. That's OK, I can't sing either 😅 And I agree, it's not my favorite ELO song either, but I do think it was an attempt to hit the dance floor. The bass line sounds so familiar - would anyone else agree with Funky Town?

Don't know who you're talking about, but it's not ELO. I'm pretty sure that Jeff didn't even finish high school (or the British equivalent). Most of them were from Birmingham, England, where they met playing music in various bands and ended up playing together in the excellent band The Move. Jeff, Bev and Roy Wood left The Move to start ELO, although Roy left halfway through the second album to start another band called Wizzard. Richard Tandy had played in The Move from time to time and joined ELO in the beginning.
