I'm starting on an electric moped build, converting a 1980 Puch Maxi into a "Max-E."
I used Anchor Lube in this video, as it has been my go-to for machining stainless steel, and I'm excited they're now a supporter of the channel. Check out their product here:

If you like what I'm doing here and find some value in it, consider supporting my work on Patreon. Patrons get ad-free videos, behind the scenes content, and a deep feeling of satisfaction and well being that come with knowing they're helping me create.

I would of taken off all the rust while you were at it and had it disassembled, taken off the stickers, sprayed it with primer, then rattle can painted it with your wife's favorite color of enamel. Baby light blue is a real pretty color on these things. For low maintenance and less cleaning and easier touch ups, silver of black (flat or gloss) are the best colors). Silver looks pretty sharp, flat black hides drips. A whizzer wheel on a drill, plus soaked in cheap apple cider vinengar, then brushed with a tooth bursh with phosphoric acid from Lowes to keep it from rerusting until you get it painted... does a good job of derusting. Polish up those chrome rims with some Mother's Polish and a 0000 steel wool.

What a kool Project! Remember to leave some slack on the chain about 1 to 1 1/2 inch because when you sit on the moped the chain will tense up and you want the front and rear sprockets and chain o last. installing a chain tensor with a spring also helps. You got craft !

I doubt that the sprocket adapter you made ever appears in any machining class or handbook - but it is exactly the kind of thing that makes this channel so brilliant, and what I think engineering is all about! Now I got to sit here and wait until you reappear…. :0)

Man I can’t believe how much you’ve learned and know over the years. I don’t own a metal working lathe yet….I’m jealous 😊 And I don’t know if the viewers understand the thought that has to go into making a part….the order of operations. It can be really tricky. Even on a simple part lol👍😄

4:55 I see myself struggle decades ago lol. Taking off tyre: Fully deflate, start taking off tyre at the valve, so the other side can slide or be pushed into the middle of the rim. Putting on a new tyre: Get one side to sit in the middle of the rim, so the other end can slide on (no tools req). Put the tube in (with baby powder), barely inflated, rather flat but not completely flat! Get the other side of the tyre to sit in the middle of the rim, OPPOSITE of the valve. Slide the last end of the tyre onto the rim (probably no tools or soap req) Hope that helps. Thanks for the video, I'm curious how it's gonna turn out.

Can I just say, it's nice to FINALLY hear someone actually call a Mo Per a Mo Per instead of scooter and not call a scooter a Mo Per since anyone with a grade 1 education can see how obviously a Mo Pet is a motorised, pedal assisted vehicle unlike scooters which are obviously not. So I thank you for having common sense! Great Vid I convert all my Vespa and Lambretta Scooters to Electric, 72v system, Kelly Controller, 10kw in hub motor wheel, 520 nm of torque, 0-100 kph in 1.2 sec, top speed of 175 kph, 80ah LiFePo4 72v battery (I refuse to waste my money or time on Li Ion they are rubbish and simply way too dangerous lol)

sticker = Rolling Stones ? I'd take off road as trail bike but here in city would be an active death warrant, saw a guy knocked off cycle a mile from residence... also cool would be a honda engine or a homemade alternative, and then run it on woodgas, used vege oil, or do a diesel one....

If that's vevor's 1800w 48v kit, I ran the same one on a go-kart for a while, but ended up burning out the speed controller on a hot day. I replaced the speed controller with a 3000w one I found on ebay, and everything been going along just fine ever since. stout little motor for a pre-teen version of power wheels

The problem you were having when threading, is that most of the cheap tap and die sets, tend to have dies that are on good for recutting old and damaged threads.

It a great build actually really like that frame despite it being a design I usually don't like. However I'm really sad you didn't do a complete job of it and get the rust of everything and give it a new paint job. Thus bike could be awesome rather than just nice.

I see lots of poeple using this motor recently, is this the vevor motir and speed controller combo? i would like to buy one but im worried about water, do you know anything about this motors water resistance?
@JeremyMakesThings
@JeremyMakesThings 7 ай бұрын
The motor is definitely not sealed in any way (I guess in part for air cooling). But being a brushless motor, I’m not sure if water in the motor would kill the electrical bits or not….but isn’t probably not great for the bearings at any rate.

I'm not a psychiatrist, but I play one on KZbin, so, if you got into machining to build an electric moped, finish this moped, deliver the Jeep to the woods and sell the tools, it's not to late to save yourself, if not, you'll end up disappearing into the woods only to re-appear 15 years later wearing a dress claiming you Natalie woods re-incarnated. I know it happened to me, and it still pisses me off the local news didn't even bother to show up at my press conference. Good luck and may the force be with you.
