Where can i get the sensitivity switch from?
@rodneyredman952 Жыл бұрын
/Hi, can you explain how you found the pin-out for the connector, and more on the sensitivity switches. How they work and why you needed to order them ? Were they just not included with the unit that you purchased, or were the ones that came with the unit too or not enough sensitive? How did you hook them up? How can you adjust the sensitivity on a unit that came out of a doner car ?

Great video, especilly disassembling!! I'm from Germany and I have the same type of EPS in my 22 years old Opel car. Works great, but no more in winter when it's cold outside: Then the EPS often turns off itself. OBD-Code says: "torque sensor range not plausible". The small wheel of the sensor runs in the groove of the axis. May be this is a Problem of too old lubricant on the axis (a special white teflon-like lubricant) ?? The EPS is from 1999 and has more than 150.000 miles... Is it possible to put some new lubricant onto the axis touch the mounting hole of the sensor? What do you think?? ❔❔🤔 I have two complete EPS steerings in reserve, but it is not so easy to change the complete unit in my model. It would be a lot of work. 😭😭 Best Regards Thomas

Pure genius. Also like the way you use hacksaw blades in your reciprocating air saw. Need to do that myself!

Cheers! Those blades are way cheaper, the proper ones turn easier when you're going round bends though.

As always great video. I’m guessing the sensitivity switch will be flicked on and off manually ? Also the hight I’d the steering wheel is just what ever your convertible at ? Rather than using measurements from another caddy. Really enjoyed the video . Savage conversion
@RotboxMetalworks4 жыл бұрын
Steven Harper cheers. The sensitivity side of it is done by a knob so you can set it to the heaviness you prefer. You can get a control box that changes the heaviness automatically depending how fast you’re going but I’ve used this type before so thought I’d get the same again. The steering wheel position is set to where it originally was

@RotboxMetalworks4 жыл бұрын
Haha, thanks?! Glad you enjoyed the video, audio is trickier than video to sort as we get lots of background noise from the dust extraction, generally bad acoustics in the workshop, plus Mat's broad Northern accent doesn't help! The channel is very much a work in progress at the moment and we're still figuring stuff out as we go but audio is at the top of the list to sort out when we can afford to.

If you have no power steering at all than this is an improvement at lower speeds say below 50kph. But electric power steering on higher speeds can be really sh't. I have it in my latest car. Newest car I have ever owned and the most expensive but the steering is the worst I have ever had in any car. Even a 1990's Mitsubishi Colt had better steering. Driving in a straight line at 60+kph is just so disappointing with electric power steering.

But it's not a GM part! It's just a part made for a GM vehicle. Most parts aren't made by the VM's they are made For them by aftermarket companies such as Valeo, lucas, zf etc etc VM's build the vehicles and design the vehicles.
