Happy i was able to join the team and help out for a few months whilst it was built near the end.... Lets just say it was a chance in a lifetime ...

EV's are the future of racing, some people may not like it but EV's are simply faster, and thats what racing is about
@PHeartbeatGame2 жыл бұрын
That is just patently false, ICE only cars with modern tech can definitely be faster purely from the weight advantage they have, it's either them or hybrids
@Neojhun2 жыл бұрын
@@PHeartbeatGame LOL you have no clue what you are talking about. When it comes to short range races like Stages & Drag Racing you don't need much energy total capacity. A smaller peak power focused battery or SUPERCAPACITOR can be used. Thus why ICE is not dominant in this type of racing. When it comes to races 1 hour or longer BEVs simply can not compete. FYI Drag Racing will use SuperCapacitors problem is how to build sets of electric motors which kick out 4,000hp. While Time attack already has things like McMetry Spelling.
@PHeartbeatGame2 жыл бұрын
@@Neojhun The mcmurtry is a fan car, an equivalent ICE fan car would be faster for sure. Drag racing continues to be dominated by ICEs in the higher categories too. Of coure at some price points it's easier to buy a BEV, but we are talking about la creme de la creme of each category. In short races there isn't any advantage I can see for electric cars, ICEs are still lighter weight.

EV isn’t the only future of racing But it definitely has a future IN racing Hybrids might turn into the new group B

Lol no. EVs are dull and soulless and there’s less skill and involvement.

Hang on a sec, it's THAT fast at 60% power?

May have turned it up in the final run but they are trialing their batteries / what performance they can get out of it. Its super interesting how they can use the onboard computer to map out where to save power and where they need it across a rally stage.

The thing about EVs is they can dump ALOT of their stored energy into their motors very quickly. A long range EV has the capacity to be a very high performance EV. An internal combustion engine's power is limited by how much fuel and air it can mix and burn, an electric motor are a lot more efficient at converting stored energy into kinetic energy. My guess is, they are limited it at 60% power so they have enough juice to make the whole race, on shorter tracks they can dump a lot more power out. It's all experimental right now and I love every minute of it. We can finally see exciting innovation in racing again! and Rally has always been the best testing ground.

@@AlxSynth doesn't have the soul or emotion of the old stuff. They perform better, sure, but noone who's enjoyed the roar of ICE engines goes to quiet races.

I feel like they could use heat pipes like from CPU coolers to cool down stuff have the pipes coming out the car with a bunch of fins on them the air will hit them cool everything down Just look up CPU Cooler and you know what I'm talking about Or they can water cool it with something that's not water or with water whatever as long as they can keep it away from the electronics
@Groaznic2 жыл бұрын
Yeah they're already doing that, the liquid coolant I mean, since it's 100 times more dense than air it has to be liquid cooling, and it's a must for any EV that goes even moderately fast. There's only a handful of EVs on the market such as the Renault Zoe that use air cooling because they don't output a ton of power, and they don't charge super fast, but otherwise the mid and high range ones definitely liquid and very beefy liquid cooling too.
