awesome job, awesome effort, on this great detailed instructional video. and I'm not trying to nitpick your work by any means, so I hope that I don't come off that way. I was just wondering Could you not have just mounted the secondary belt driven clutch on the transmission input shaft & just completely done away with the Jack shaft and the first chain coming off it going to the trans? we're just curious if there was reasoning behind it, or if you done another one would you do away with the jackshaft an first chain ? I do know it's much easier to improve upon a design when you can physically see it assembled(finished job)versus when it's just an idea in your head too tho. So again, just asking
@jlistdiy

Thank you for commenting If the pulley was on the opposite side on the rear end then I would have bypassed the jackshaft and did it direct but the way the rear end was set up had to use the jack shaft it was my only option at the time since the engine could not be mounted any further towards the passenger side.

Nice work. I don't have access to a lathe and will purchase and shaft adapter for the drive after removing motor (plan to resale motor). Do you have dimensions of the splines. Looks to be 10-spline but can't find any dimensions on the internal I.D.

Sir, I have an old EZGO golf cart I have converted from electric to gas. Everything I see here is just like what I have used and did. But my speed is SLOW. What can I change or check? I have a #40 chain and a 10.tooth sprocket off the torque converter on the forward and reverse…..also on shaft going in to the rear end. Top speed is 10-12 miles an hour. I sure would appreciate a reply.
@jlistdiy
@jlistdiy 2 жыл бұрын
Your rear end itself is probably geared low so you could try and put a 12 tooth or even a 14 tooth on the rear shaft

Using an angle grinder without the guard? VERY risky ! I had a cut-off wheel grenade on me and a piece was stuck into the side of the garage about an inch., could have been me ! From then on, I put the guard back on and am willing to put up with whatever inconvenience it might cause. I don't want a piece of one of those sticking out of my head or body.

Hey Jamie, so I FINALLY got to test drive my conversion! When I go from neutral to reverse or drive, it breaks my chain. Ive made sure the idle is completely down. I used all the parts you included in your video... .the only installation modification I did was to mount the torque converter directly to the forward reverse in order to eliminate one chain. What do you think might be causing the hard impact on the shift?
@jlistdiy
@jlistdiy 2 жыл бұрын
Wow I never had that issue the only thing I can think of is the belt maybe to tight causing the torque converter to still spin 🤔

So I’m trying to do the same thing on my easy go golf cart and I’m struggling with the rear axle. I have an axle that came out of the electric cart, but how do you get the axle to come out of the differential as far as you did the shaft is only a couple inches out of the differential that has the splines on it, I cannot seem to figure out how to get that shaft longer in connected to a pillow block bearing any advice would be great. Thank you.

The shaft I used was out of the electric motor I pressed it out with my shop press
@cameronhulin7084

OK that makes sense so you actually took the shaft out of the electric motor itself and connected it to the splines on the differential and then ran that to pillow block blaring with a sprocket on it is that correct?
