48v is the most efficient for the heaviest load: air conditioning. The wakespeed 12-48v bidirectional DC-DC converter works well with alternator charging CAN bus batteries like the LiTime 5 kWh. 24v is an overall optimal choice for component availability, installation, and reduced wire size. Thank you for continuing to making great content!

For the plumbing, those steel braided hoses look like a great solution. I am planning on using clear hose for all other connections due to availability of parts worldwide and not needing a specialized tool to repair while traveling. I've heard you mention a couple times having issues with hose clamps leak on the clear tubing, I've never had issues when using high quality hose clamps (Norma are my favorite) and proper torque specs on the bolt. After all, many hose connections on the car are done this way and don't leak! Thanks for the video, great info!

I really like the modularity and upgrade potential of the Victron vs something like an Ecoflow that so many now are using for ease. Thank you for taking the time to make the very detailed explanation.

I am blown away by the quality of the components you use. Everything is top notch quality, unlike the well know W and A van makers. Additionally I noticed quite a few Festool woodworking tools. Top notch all the way around both in fabrication and parts. If I was building a van you would have my business in a heartbeat. I also spied Duetsch connectors which I think can't be beat.

I’m currently installing a 48V system in a Promaster. Using a 48V Undermount Air Conditioner which has three times the efficiency of a 12V system. I’m installing two 51.2V , 100A server rack batteries and leaving space for a potential third battery. Also, I have 900W of solar on the roof. This is a grand experiment, so we shall see 😂. Your videos have been a tremendous help!!!

Hello, to confirm on the lynx distributor jumper on your website, does that come with the 12v to 5v step down built in?

@Thrivans this isn't related to this video but what's your advice on how to prevent or repair rust on sprinter vans? I'm just now discovering how much rust loves Sprinters and am having doubts about buying mine now. Basically don't want to put in all of this money for a build out and then have rust eat away in a few years.

Is it just me with little familiarity of US AWG standards but does Geoff have the cables switched in his hands? To me the 1AWG looks to be the smaller and more flexible than the 4AWG. When surely it should vice-verse. And surely easier to work in metric full-stop 😂

What brand of check valve do you use in your water tank? Thanks
@thrivans
@thrivans Ай бұрын
Not sure if the brand. We get them from Home Depot.

How do you connect the drain for the main tank and water heater? With the vent hose like previous videos?
@thrivans
@thrivans Ай бұрын
We don't connect them. We run separate drain lines for the vent and water heater. We typically don't do a drain on the tank. We just use the pump to pump out all the water through the shower or sink.

Do you incorporate a drain for the hot water heater tank for cold weather use?
@thrivans
@thrivans Ай бұрын
Yes. The Isotemp has a drain valve. We connect a hose and run it through the floor of the van.

@ that sounds like a great heater to have in Wisconsin. Just recently purchased a 2021 Sprinter with a Campolux 2.5 gallon tank. No easy way to drain it or put RV antifreeze in the tank. Any suggestions? Love your channel.

What's your opinion of using an electric skillet for toasted cheese, chili batch, reheating where microwave is no good for reheating , (pizza, fries,) rather than propane/butane stove and skillet/griddle (portable or built in)?
@thrivans
@thrivans Ай бұрын
Yes. We prefer electric. We have installed 3-in-1 microwave/convection/air fryers that product more flexibility than a microwave alone.

Why not have the water-filler inlet on the side of the van so you don't have to open the rear doors and lose precious heat to fill up?
@thrivans
@thrivans Ай бұрын
You can definitely do that. Our biggest concern is the possibility that someone could tamper with your water supply.

15:43 "we like to supporting the DIY van build community" by not telling you that we are stingy and this is going to cost you $30. I don't understand why you wouldn't just give this away. Especially when you make it sound like you're giving something away. Silly, hurts your credibility.
