I am amazed at Prof Michel Van Biezen's lectures. Infact, I have just begun a new learning experience. He is the best online lecture provider.

Sir, Since I have watched almost the whole playlist, I sure the equation that you wrote in the first line is the Average power equation(has cosine theta), love your passion always !!!

i am so confused. I thought to this point apparent power didnt involve the power factor and yet here it now does....

If complex power, S, then Vrms*Irms

The formula you show here is for average power, not apparent power.

Agreed. At first, I thought it was just me, until I went through the math.

Confused i am, Is apparent power not = RMS CURRENT * RMS VOLTAGE ? the cos (theta) = P.F. = Power Factor??? LOVE YOUR WORK. Also i never understood Reactive power and why we want it low, but a few videos ago you said it was the capacitor/inductor storing and releasing the power, IT MADE SENSE, THX

I think the formula should be |Complex Power|=Apparent Power= Vrms x Irms = (1/2)(Vm)(Im)

Hi Michel. Please rectify the formula for apparent power here which should not comprise of the cos(phi) term in my opinion. It is creating a lot of confusion in understanding since we have a number of types of powers and then it all gets mixed up.

u r saying complex power= magnitude of appparent power. But apparent power doesnt have any phase angle!! you also saying that the complex power is also the phasor form of apparent power......which one is correct?
@MichelvanBiezen2 жыл бұрын
Think of the apparent power as being the hypotenus of the triangle made by the real power (horizontal) and reactive power (vertical).

FIRST FORMULA IS WRONG!. S does not equal Vrms*Irms*cos(angle). Real(S) = Vrms*Irms*cos(angle)
