I was not blessed with good professors who were able to teach me the 3-phase circuit properly due to the short time we always had with the curriculum. so whenever I heard the word 3-phase I always got a panic attack because I did not know or understand it proplery. watching your videos helped me plenty so I just wanted to thank you for making my life easier. Can this be done using polar notation? I tried, but it didn't work too well. Magnitude was right, but not the phase angle.

It should be possible. But some methods are easier than others.

And using line voltage (E) and line current (I), P = √3EIcosθ

Hi. This was very clear. But, is this formula for instantaneous power or for average power?
@larryzdanis5377
@larryzdanis5377 2 жыл бұрын
Since the power is contant, instantaneous power = average power, so the same equation works for both.

i guess this voltages and currents are AC. before this video, it was DC right?
@MichelvanBiezen

Not sure what you man by "before this video", but yes, this video has AC voltage sources. For all 3-phase circuits it is necessary to have AC voltage sources.

I still don't get why sqrt(2)
@dvaVivy
@dvaVivy 3 жыл бұрын
Vrms = (Vpeak-peak/sqrt(2)) rearanging the equation you get Vpeak-peak = Vrms*sqrt(2)

That is becuase when the voltage is in the form of polar phasor format, the voltage before the angle is the rms voltage. Meaning Van=Vrms

Sir i have not understood the fact that in single phase the power is not constant and that in 3 phase the power is constant? Arent the Iphase *Vphase also sinusoidal so thr three phase power is also alternating?

its like when there is single phase the gap between two consecutive troughs is larger. when in three phase these gaps are filled by the crest of the additional phases. it appears to be constant
