I'm not an old man. I wasn't there for this music. I am 20 years old as of 2024. But this song makes me cry every time I hear it. The memories of family and long car rides. The music itself. I went through a period of substance abuse and this song came on 96.5 the mill in New Hampshire. And I started bawling. I hadn't cried in years. The next day I went to rehab.

I was in mid 20's when this song came out. So many young musicians and fans of the music from that 60's-70's era went into rehab, or died from substance abuse back then, and it is uplifting to hear of a success story like yourself getting something positive from the music we grew up with. Congratulations my friend

David Lindley... This one hurts. David created magic on the lap steel and any other of the many instruments he played. An absolute master of the volume pedal, he could make his Dumble amps growl, sing, and hit you right in the feels. RIP to a legend far too few people know about.

Mr. Dave is my all-time hero, as far as guitar playing is concerned. The man mastered everything on strings. What a master. My idol. Been following him since Rockpalast 1982, I think it was. What a tragic loss for the ultimate music business. The less well -known are the greatest artists. David is, for my taste, the world's best slide guitarist. End of story.

So true…I was totally flattened when I heard of his death (COVID?). Truly, well, as a musician, David strangely always captured my heart-not just his mastery, his presence. I never knew him but I heard he was quite the character (big surprise). So underrated, barely anyone noticed this amazing man’s humble but incredibly notable career. What he did for Jackson Browne (whom is still the bomb), their chemistry (saw them live a few times-you just can not fake that intimacy/chemistry) was so joyful-because of his presence. He did SO much and got so little attention. Well, knowing what I know of him, I don’t think he’d give it second thought. But WE do. I have him and Jackson doing ‘For a Dancer’ live, which cuts beautifully between two live performances so beautifully, decades apart, so beautifully edited, so apropos. RIP -for a true dancer 💔

I had forgotten about this song. I just heard it during the closing credits of the show Splitting Up Together. That was a nice surprise. I was 6 when the song came out. (Today's date is April 11, 2019.)

I grew up with this great music & appreciated them playing it at the end of the show (Splitting Up Together) earlier. Season finale.

I had a stunningly beautiful girlfriend, and a 1968 Mustang fastback 4speed. When high school would get out, I'd pick her up and we'd go to lookout mountain in Mesa Arizona. This would be playing on the radio, and we could just look out over the valley and think of what might be.
