I've been doing electrical for about 15 years now. I think I've literally used a jigsaw twice. They nice for home but. I hardly see a use for it at work. Both residential and commercial. I think a battery powered dedicated roto hammer is needed. I drill alot of 1/2 holes for anchors. The drill roto hammer combo doesn't perform as well in that application. Also battery power shop vac are awesome.

Another one I really like to use is a fein saw, I'm pretty sure the technical name is a oscillating multi tool. Really nice for cut in boxes and when you need to cut small bits of wood, like cutting in an exterior box.

I stole your using latex gloves when installing nice shiny fixtures, thats mint thanks for makin us all better!
@docferringer Жыл бұрын
If anyone is in the market for a cordless vacuum, check out the website for your tool brand of choice to see if they have any vacuums that will work in combination with your tools. There are a lot of saws and drills these days with automatic dust collection adapters and you can either have an always on vacuum or one that only comes on when your drill or saw turn on. Typically this works by plugging whatever tool into a power plug on the vacuum and the vacuum supplies power to both; however, newer wireless tools with Bluetooth support can make this process a little easier.

@Quejay9133 жыл бұрын
I suggest invest in good tools. Also buy tools with warranties. Tools can get very expensive and you don’t want to be replacing them over and over. I wouldn’t suggest ryobi IMO. Also try and stick with one set of tools you don’t want to have like three different chargers and batteries
@smokeybandit19143 жыл бұрын
@@Quejay913 my current set of power tools are all ryobi, working commercial at the moment and they all take a beating every day, I will upgrade once i get a raise to Milwaukee or makita. Though I do love that i can just swap out my impact driver's battery and put it on my sawzall, grinder, circ saw, work light, radio ect. Went with the brushless motor line of ryobi tools, my older set (not brushless) went through 4 years of heavy HVAC work and they're still going strong.
@Quejay9133 жыл бұрын
@@smokeybandit1914 ayeee the most important thing is that you aren’t replacing tools constantly. Most tools do the same shit just some more effectively. For an electrician most drill drivers and impact shouldn’t really matter. IMO bandsaws, sawzalls, grinders, sds, etc. I wouldn’t buy ryobi

Do tool belt suspenders work ? And if they do, do u recommend first year apprentices buy then to improve lower back health ?
@macadamia19663 жыл бұрын
I find that they do. I'm a large human and tool belts tend to sag on me pretty much from when I put them on. I use suspenders (on both my pants and my tool belts) so I do not have to pull my pants and tool belt up all day. I'm sure it also helps with lower back health, but it's about time for me... I'd spend all day pulling up my pants without them.

I just pack my pouch with only what I use for the day. If I didn't use it that day, then it goes in my tool bag. Just keep it light or suspenders if you want.

As you gain more experience and if you're fortunate to have an employer who doesn't mind you doing side work, you're going to need your own tools. It's an investment in yourself. That is always a good thing. If you do what you say, and do it well, you'll be amazed how quickly you're able to do as much side work as you want. Also, employers notice the employees who invest some of their income back into their trade. Can benefit you come review time as well. 💵
