Good info Big "B"! It's this kind of content that sets you apart from other RC channels. You are extremely modest; you have a ton of knowledge that even the most seasoned hobbyists can benefit from. Keep doing what you are doing and you will always have an audience. I use Bob Smith Industries 5 min epoxy for everything boat related. If I need to fill holes I add a little bit of micro balloons to the epoxy for easy sanding once it sets. If I need to use the epoxy as a sealer, I add a little denatured alcohol to make it runny like water. Of course I use CA in various thicknesses for building, and once in a while I will find a use for silicone, but I can pretty much do everything boat related with epoxy. Cheers!

Thanks brother, I will check out the Bob Smith industries 5min epoxy. The jb weld epoxy is a cheap product I've had my share of issues with it but I've also had some great success with it in the past. I will definitely check it out I appreciate the info

Yet another really useful video Big B 👍 Thanks for sharing. Man, I could 'Jack ma Jaws' all day about adhesives, sealants and stuff. But I won't of course. A few simple things to consider when selecting an adhesive are the material and the function of the component. Plastics (polycarbonate, ABS) will always need a solvent based adhesive (not epoxy) if you need a permanent bond. There's nothing better than JB Platic Weld which I know you're using bro. I use JB Marine Weld 2-part epoxy (Steel and Hardener) for many things, and works brilliantly on fibreglass or carbon fibre. When it comes to function, most adhesives will have stronger shear strength than tensile strength (rotation or torsional vs pull strength) so you need to consider what the component you're fixing is doing. If it is rotating or under high torque you need shear strength. If it being pushed/ pulled you need high tensile strength. Nice stuff Big B 👊

Great video and tips Big B. Hot tip for cleaning/waxing the outside of your fiberglass boats( veles, zelos, ul-19 , etc.. Gel Gloss, it comes in a aerosol can or a liquid. Wipe it on, let it haze , then buff it out. Super easy . Cleans , shines, protects! Gel Gloss is the brand name

Shoe goo is handy stuff too. I’ve glued a fairly heavy esc down before. I’d say it’s a step or two past double sided tape. You can still remove it for the most part and it sticks to anything. It’ll stay flexible. Super cheap and easy.

I love shoe goo but it's getting hard to find here. Gorilla Clear Grip contact adhesive is every bit as good. Sets in an hour and remains slightly flexible.

Great vid on the sealants Big B, and quite informative on JB WELD application. I have used Z poxy, comes in 15 & 30 minute cures with great results on my fixed wing planes. Drys clear, and strong as nails. Excellent on all ABS, fiberglass applications. The 30 min. cure bottles is the best for 24hr. application for super strength. Hobby stores, local and online that cater to R/C are the best for availability

Big B! I have a plastic boat that I pulled the top and bottom halves off. It has some clear adhesive between the halves. It seemed like clear silicone, but not 100% sure. I want to reseal the hull halves as it came from factory but unsure what to use. Is the Loctite clear removable? What would you recommend to make sure I don’t seal the two halves shut forever? I was thinking of using 3M Clear marine Silicone as it is removable. Thoughts?
@IRONCLADRC Жыл бұрын
Jb water weld is a 2 part adhesive, that would be great for joining. Unfortunately, it's tough to remove once joined, it CAN be undone .ay be tough. Not sure what else i can recommend

@@IRONCLADRC the 105/20x is awesome but not that great for plastic. I've fixed and inlayed a couple plastic boats with G Flex even a couple fiberglass ones so it's extremely versatile. If it weren't so expensive I'd use it for a lot more too, lol.
