Actually with the et max and blitz, the dynamic balancing only happens automatically only if: - your past 80% charge - the wheel is ON Therefore, keep your wheel on while it charges and it will balance without having to pull the wheel apart.

I don't balance on the road, cause the last volt will need 1h+, so I stop just before the amperage dips. At the end of each ride, when I'm back home, I'll do a full balance. To do that I have cheap Androids running EUC World, controlling smart outlets with power monitoring. It performs the balancing and only when the output stays at around 10W for a while will it shut it off automatically. Otherwise what I tell people I've coached is wait for the charger light to go green, and wait an hour before turning it off. My Sherman-S has always charged to 101.2, even after 23000+ km. The Lynx is at 150.8V (after 10000+ km), and the Sherman-L is charging at 151.4 (although it's very new).

Check the Lynx charger output with a multimeter. Almost all of them were off from the factory. You can fix it by disassembling the charger and adjusting it.

being new in this EUC community makes it so tough for me to decide on a first wheel with issues like that i would not want to come across. I feel like charging a wheel shouldn't be this difficult to not harm something i'm spending this much on. It's a huge risk wanting a Begode Master, the wheel looks amazing to swap the suspension and give it extra protection, but it makes me overthink over this "Smart BMS" talk that other wheels have. I've had my eye on the Veteran Lynx, but i assume that wheel would be tough for a first wheel to learn as a short lightweight rider.

EUC World will actually show you the difference (in mV) between minimum and maximum voltages of the cell groups in each pack, along with the voltage of each cell group. Begode shows you the cell group voltages as well but doesn't show the variance between min and max. Also, something like a Charge Monitor ;-) will show you what current is still being pulled by the wheel during the balance phase, so even though your charger shows a green light, you can see if the cells are balancing or not by seeing if the current is exactly zero (fully charged and balanced) or slightly more than zero (still balancing). Also, even fairly expensive voltmeters usually have a published accuracy of +/- 1% or more. That equates to reading 1.34V higher or lower than actual on a 134.4V wheel. So, you can't really compare the validity of the app's reported voltage of each pack compared to what your voltmeter shows, as either can be 'out' by a fairly large margin of error with the voltages we're considering.

The accuracy of the voltage is off as we se in your measurement with the multimeter, if it say 67 volts per battery pack it should give 134volts but it didn't, i think an update is needed from Begode to readjust the accuracy. Begode don't test their stuffs too much before putting it out on the market, they never did in the first or second batch unless there is too much complaints. QC check in lacking... **This is wrong if you have to do all of this after buying a brand new wheel.

Not fully correct. If the Blue LED's are on and flashing, active balancing is occurring and the wheel does not have to be turned on. I.e., it can be OFF. Also, you most likely will have to charge the battery packs separately IF there is a large voltage difference between each of the four packs. Many of us do this if we don't want to wait weeks.
@jimskyboy23 ай бұрын
@@ElectricUnicycles Active Balancing happens with a textbook high pitch squeal/whine. Switching capacitors. If you don't hear that whine it's passive balancing or using mosfets to burn off energy, instead of moving the energy from pack to pack. I know it's not active because the switching capacitors are huge, size of a metal lighter per cell. :)

another method for the poor people who only have a stock charger and older units such as Master/t4/ex30. euc can charge with 2 batteries. you use multimeter and find the 2 lowest packs and only connect them to charge board to charge, as charging is done in battery pairs. it is alot easier if you have cable extenders then swapping around the packs in to matching ports. as ports are matched horizontal and diagonal. and by repeating this process you can balance out your packs pretty good. the principal is like charging 3 batteries from flat to full with a charger that can only charge 2 cells at a time. or like playing towers of Hanoi, similar concepts.

Thanks Marty, do you have to do it like that every time you are charging? That wouldn’t be very practical taking apart your wheel every time you want to fully charge it. Besides I think that Begode put charging limit on purpose to not overcharge your wheel while hard breaking and frying the motherboard like Mr_wrongway did it in France with Patron.
@DrawsACircle3 ай бұрын
The real problem are the differences between the voltage reported by the BMS, the voltage reported by the wheel and what you measure with your meter. If the BMS if off in the wrong direction, you’ll never reach 134.4V, you’ll have to charge each pack separately.

Got the new Master V4, full charge is 133.6 when I turn it on (per app). I do notice if I turn it off, and turn it on again, I get another .6 or .7 volt drop each time. and so on and so on. My thinking is it goes to 134.4 and charger stops. I turn it on and in charging up the board, I lose a bit and drop to 133.6. Turn it off and on again, later, capacitors refill, another voltage drop. The 133.6 seems to be a constant each time I turn on after a full charge. I'm taking this a normal and just moving on. The old Nik+ read 100.8 every time on the wheel, lol.
@ElectricUnicycles3 ай бұрын
I wouldn't be too disappointed with 133.6-volts. The power distribution board is what causes the constant drain. I've bypassed the distribution board on my Master Pro and it always charges to 134.4-volts and the voltage will still be at that value 3-weeks later.

My master is charging to 133.8v max, but the reading is off 0.6v. So actually is charging to 134.4. We need be able to calibrate voltage reading in the app. In my case it is off 0.6V but in case of your Marty Blitz it is off 1V.

Depends on how hard. If you're lucky you will only get warning beeps and tilt-back. If you are unlucky your control board will fail. Best to ride for a few miles before braking super hard.

And, it’s hard to trust volt meters. I’ve had a Craftsman’s one from before Sears died, it’s always tested the most accurate compared to the used to be free HF/Amazon Chinese shit ones I have, but come to find out, low battery = the voltage gets increasingly worse. The same model at my mom’s place was up to showing 170v out of a 120v outlet before a relative suggested replacing the battery. My mom’s place has solar and batteries and inverter, so I thought something was going south with it, even though it only kicks on when grid power is lost.

EUCs need a true smart BMS not ones where u can just see cell voltages thats not smart (does make me giggle when people call it a smart BMS) . My electric skateboard 50.4V has a TRUE smart BMS where i can not only see the cell voltages but i can change when balancing starts. Out the box its 4.0V i set it to 3.8 yes charging takes longer but as the pack is balancing for a longer period it keep everything much closer. Being changeable means on group rides i can change it back if i need faster charging. Also it has 2 settings STATIC / CHARGE balancing so even after it has charged & the charger is unplugged & the board is off i switch it to STATIC & it continues to balance if i dont ride for a month its still balancing.

My Inmotion wheels don't have that problem and can actually charge past the Advertised Voltage. Begode Advertising and Selling Large Pizzas full price in Large Pizza boxes, but when you open the box it is just a small personal pan pizza. 5 bites and its gone...To make matter worst, Begode fan boys then make excuses to justify why they can't put a Large Pizza in the Large Box

Remember the inmotional damage... Cutouts are no joke. I'm not sure why people are making such a fuss over not getting 5% of range with the idea of safety. My Master v4 reaches 132.4v at 70 miles of range, It takes me over a week to run it dead if I ride it everyday, it's a fine compromise without a true smart bms in my opinion

A good innovation for EUC would be if they could have the Charging function already built into the wheel and we just need to plug into a outlet to charge...Like Solar Generators do. And have a Solar panel built-in the wheel so it can be charging while riding Might be too much to ask from Chinese Manufacturers/Engineers since they like to cut corners in production, design, and build/engineering. There are many innovations already there, just got to figure out how to incorporate it into the wheels/EUCs. We are still in the Pre-iPod days for EUCs. The way we think about EUCs NOW, is how people thought about Cell Phones and Computers before the iPhone and iPod came and changed the game. Before iPhone/iPod, cell phones ONLY Called and texted, and many didn't have texting. No such thing as Apps, Internet, Email, Cameras, Touchscreens, etc.
