I live in Costa Rica and I have 6,000 kilometers on my radar. mine is the basic rear wheel drive. It's the closest thing to 4 wheel drive, in two-wheel drive you'll ever use for a truck. the rear-wheel traction control is amazing .I paid $36,500 for it. if you're going to use it as a light duty truck like I do. You just can't beat it. It charges from 20% to 100% overnight in 9 hours. Costa Rica is very mountainous and it really does Drive almost like a sports car. it has absolutely massive brakes, and bi-directional charge / discharge. I love my radara

Can update - in Thailand there are 3 battery sizes: 63, LFP, 73.9 LFP, 86.NCM -The 63 is RWD, the 73.9 could be RWD or AWD, and the 86 is AWD. Range on the 73.9 RWD is listed as 461 km (NEDC) and 424 for. the AWD. The 86 kwh battery and the 73.9 give 0-100 in 4.5 seconds. Charging for all battery sizes is 30-80% in around 30 minutes. So, in short, the range is likely going to be under 400 KM and the charging on the slow side. Features ability to drive through 82 CM of water, which in Thailand us useful.

All the ute most would ever need. But... if you tow, rear end is not ideal. Obviously for range, but also coils mean weight centered and load point further away from tow ball (compared to leaf springs). 2500kg is sensible. Same for BYD Shark. They should not fiddle with specs in an attempt to increase towing weight to compete with Ranger et al. Pick your market. .

I'm in America our truck manufactures are destroying their own brands. The Ford Lightning was offered if ordered at 40K $ 40,000.00 Us. Ordered. But you can't get one for under 80K and many dealerships were asking over 100k for them... Even more for the new GMC ET.... So you can rest assured our car and truck market is being primed for serious disruptions over the next few years. Americans will soon say give us BYD Geeky etc. Nans F Ford and GM GmC Toy etc.

Sam great information but please let's be realistic normal driving one of these with a couple of passengers bit of camping gear and some push bikes aircon on you will only get sub 400km at best 350km range would be more realistic. As a person on the land, I need a try back utility vehicle. If there is a fire I need to put the 1,000 litre fire fighting unit on my vehicle, with four wheel drive low range capability. When there is a flood I need four wheel drive capacity. When I want to get away camping I want to put my canopy on. When I need to go get some 6.5 metre lengths of steel I need a vehicle that has a front bar to mount to for a support, and in the front and rear of the tray. I often need to pick up a 1 ton bag of stock feed with the tray. Or perhaps a load of crushed rock, or bags of concrete. My current Nissan MY61 Diesel 2010 Patrol has a 1.5 ton carrying capacity with long range fuel tanks. I would love to buy an EV tray back, with at least 2.2 metres of tray length, but they are all these stupid pick up trucks with short tubs, like all of the current crop are totally impractical for rural and remote four wheel drive owners, they are built for city folk.

@jimgraham67225 ай бұрын
18cm is more than adequate for unsealed, made roads, which is the vast majority of use cases. Agree though, that 18cm is not good enough for genuine off road (ie cross country) nor on unformed or heavily rutted tracks. Another issue with EVs is the extent of torsional stress on the battery (box). In the days when Australia made its own vehicles they were extensively tested on tracks purpose designed to represent this country's rough outback roads and beefed up accordingly. Since the demise of local manufacturing that is no longer the case. You take your chances.

Ur right, this Chinesium ute might suit a significant number of Australian buyers, but then it will also fall short for a significant number of people who buy dual cab utes to tow loads at distance. I suspect it will be like all other BEV”s at towing and be shit, it might have the torque to pull but that is useless without decent range. BEV”s sweet spot is for small/ medium people movers, any bigger, then plug-in hybrid is the only architecture that can be anywhere near comparable to a Ranger, Hilux, Dmax, etc. The other appeal this Chinesium doesn’t have is the lack of accessory customisation. The very nature of the structural battery and complex vehicle systems would mean it will be highly unlikely you will be off to the ARB shop and fitting up a new suspension, bullbar etc which may not be essential items in the suburbs but if you use as a touring vehicle or regional work truck kinda are. Yeah, but nah for me., maybe by 2040 the manufacturers will have this all sorted, until then my Dino burner will keep puffing along.
@metricstormtrooper5 ай бұрын
You mean all that ARB stuff that never sees the outside of a city? Your use of term "Chinesium" just goes to show what sort of "Person" you are.
@Hoop-pi6dp5 ай бұрын
@@metricstormtrooper You may be correct champ, some ARB stuff is city confined, so what? A larger quantity of that ARB stuff you appear adverse to is widespread in the Agricultural, Mining, and Construction industries in regional Australia. You may have missed the point I was making that a lot of dual cab purchases are made because they are a "commercial" vehicle, and as such are often customised with endless combinations of tray bodies and bolt on accessories to do ones job in a safe and efficient manner. A vehicle that does not have a ladder frame chassis is very limited to the addition of service bodies. Not everyone drives a dual cab to keep up with the Jones in Ramsey St, so for those of us who buy commercial vehicles to use as such, we need to have the market continue to supply products that provide choice and are fit for purpose. There is a reason vehicles like the 70 series Landcruiser have changed little in 40 yrs. Simple, reliable and capable machines that as yet the Chinesium or American EV pickups fall short on. I have no idea what sort of "person" you are but rather than give character assessments to people you have never met, perhaps you can make comments relevant to the Vikings content.
