As a person that lives in the United States and Thailand it kills me that Americans can't get any of these amazing Chinese vehicles. I also see how quickly these EV's are taking over in Thailand.
@undisclosedthai2 күн бұрын
1. Although Thailand seems to sell a lot of Chinese EVs, when compared to sales proportions, they are still not very popular. Overall of pure-EV sales (combined all nationalities of brands and cars) in Thailand are still just 11.85% in Jan-Nov 2024. 2. I see that many excellent EV brands have not entered Thailand, such as Arcfox, Xiaomi, or brands that collaborate with Huawei. The small and inexpensive models such as Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, Chery QQ Ice Cream, Baojun Yep, etc have not enter Thailand too. If Toyota and Honda do not ignore the Thai EV market, and do not sell EVs in very limited quantities, I assure that EVs in Thailand will sell even better because people will accept EVs from this point (the most trusted car brands, and Japanese as the most trusted nationality of car brand). Toyota and Honda seems to do not care about the Thai EV market makes some people think that EVs are not good or not safe, so they are not become Toyota and Honda's products.

Shark benefit is long range on fuel when needed, but usable EV range. Serves the outback adventuring crowd better than an all EV ute. Still, 450km in the Radar (less if loaded up) is still plenty for local delivery duties. Won't suit everyone but will be a viable option for some. Single phase 6.6kW charging is a bit crap for an all EV car, usually only see PHEV and small battery EVs with that.

I'll stick with the onboard generator option thanks.
@jcmolette16132 күн бұрын
If you have an EV pickup (ute), just put a gasoline or propane generator in the bed (tray) with a connector and there you go. What does a generator with a full tank cost...a few hundred dollars for a decent one. How about a charged up Bluetti, EcoFlow or similar portable power station - which also have available, very thin (5 - 10 millimeter thick) solar panels which can be roof or tonneau mounted with industrial double sided tape. Many options if you want to get off the petroleum to keep your portable power station charged up.

Good car, but I would still get a BYD Shark.

The only D-max with independent suspension is the China variant. China always prioritize comfort. By the way on a not related news, a Cybertruck just exploded outside Trump Tower.

Hi Sam, two weekends ago I had to drive 1100klms in a 30 hour turn around. From sea level over 1000 metres and back again with 800 kgs in my Ute and 1000kgs towed. There were two functional chargers on that route that weekend. Until Australia develops a reliable and a efficient charging network in the regions you are flogging a dead horse. For a lot of users EV’s are just not an option.

But for a lot of users they are, don’t project your problem on the masses. This is just the beginning, battery development is going full throttle. Maybe you are flogging a dead horse? 😊

If petrol pump owners were smart, they would install a few chargers in their stationss, but alas...

I think that's a you problem. 1100km in 30 hours and 1000kg tow? You would be probably 0.001% of the Australian population. And if you are not doing that extreme trip regularly just have an EV, save money for %99 of your driving and rent a Ford Ranger for 2 days.

Irrespective of an individual’s driving experience - Australia has no future transportation strategy and is dependent on the resource sector and their lobbyists. Even if federal government did have a plan, it would take year for implementation and will be 300% over budget and deliver only 20% of proposed scope.
