Got our G6 RWD first week December. Silver Frost with grey interior. Fantastic car, very efficient and comfortable. We did our first full charge with our Home charger at our condo this week. 11kwh from 29% to 100% was only US$11.50 vs US$2.40L petrol. EV demand has surged in HK as they accounted for 72% of new car registrations in the first nine months of 2024.

Just got back from the gym myself and I’m jealous. My primary ride here in Tallahassee, Florida is a 2021 4Runner SR5. I bought it because it was a Toyota. No other reason really. Anyway, we have little EV choices here. My gym is only a couple of miles down the road and I’m retired. I’d buy a motorcycle if I didn’t have a disability. I’d certainly consider an EV if there were any real options. I enjoy your content. My best to your family; I understand you have a lot going on. Keep us informed and have a wonderful new year.

If you want "just a car", then Xpeng is a reasonable choice. Tesla goes way beyond being "just a car" and is a latent self-driving income-generating transporter. Tesla (and Tesla owners) no longer worry about specs that are purely car related, and Tesla has long since moved on from thinking about "just cars". The future of transport does not involve car ownership (so even Xpeng is F***ked). Comparing the 2019 Tesla Model Y to the 2024 XPeng G6 isn’t a fair assessment. Over those 4 years, technological advancements have transformed the EV industry, from batteries to software and manufacturing. Naturally, the XPeng G6 feels more advanced overall, but it’s not a like-for-like comparison. The upcoming Tesla Model Y Juniper, set to debut in early 2025, is the true competitor for the G6. Sam, Just placed an order for XPeng G6 based on your recommendation. It is good to see reviews from someone on Australia. Most of the other G6 reviews are from overseas. Watched one for SG and the reviewer was indifferent about the handling but then he seemed indifferent about what he wanted. We also have a Polestar 2, since May 2022. Don't charge from our solar as he have a home battery and charging would deplete this. Home charger is connected to off-peak controlled load circuit so charging uis overnight. Notice from you video that you have solar hot water as well as the PV. Hope that this works better in the Hunter than ours did in Canberra. Failed to heat the water in winter so relied on booser element to heat water so only had half tank of hot water in winter. Replaced it with Sanden heat pump HW. Watch quite a few of you videos. Really informative. Give my best to your family.

We bought the Tesla a few years ago with the intent to keep it for at least 10 years, especially if FSD does come to the UK. If we were to swap out then it would need to be at least 400 real world miles, ideally 500 so we never need to use on-route chargers. Of course if the cost of charging here in the UK comes down to a more reasonable level, say 20 pence per kilowatt then we would be happy to charge away from home so a lower range of say 300 miles would be okay but to be honest we prefer to charge for free off our own solar !

Happy New Year Sam! I love my Model Y, and I love it does most of the driving for me on the highway. Can your XPENG tow 1600kg? I really need that for towing my glider. I played a light show on my Tesla on new years eve. that was fun! I have FSD in my Tesla, even at the mediocre version we have in Europe, it is amazing and takes a lot of stress out of driving, especially on the highway. Cool the XPENG charges so fast, but probably only for a minute or so, then it drops off. At a 250kw charger my Tesla also charges from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes or something... But how many times I need that? Maybe 4-5 times per year on trips to Germany... 80-90% of the time I charge my car overnight at the charging pole around the corner of my house. But I do see these Xpengs more and more in The Netherlands, but also Zeeker and BYD, NIO, MG. But Tesla is still the most popular EV, the Model Y is the best sold car of any kind, now for already 2 years in a row. Model y's everywhere! But let's see how the new Model Y compares to the Xpeng, expectations are high, with much longer range, faster charging, higher efficiency.

I own a Tesla M3 and I go everyday to my office 35 kms without touching the steering. Mind you. This is using the free version Autopilot . Let me know if the Xpeng G6 can do that.

@@manishpjoshi it can …..but it would be able to do it worse traffic conditions and did you enjoy paying the extra 10k for it ….free with the G6 !

I'm a long time follower of Xpeng, I bought their shares on the nyse when they were $30 😂. Still a fan and hoping they turn a profit soin as you said. But if you ask me which EV I'd want to buy, it's the Zeekr 001 no contest.

What's the Xpeng after sales support like? Buying a car as it rolls off the boat in Australia is one thing but getting left high and dry because there is no after sales support would be my biggest worry with a Chinese EV brand. There are horror stories of existing Chinese EV's being off the road for months due to a lack of spare parts and poor after sales service.

I’d love the G6 but more interested in the performance model

I ordered one in Europe, the price/package is unbeatable. I testdrove 12 cars in the same category and the G6 came out on top by far. Also the specs are insane, other brands with 400+ hp AWD and the same equipment cost at least 20k more, some even 30-40k.
