15:47 I don't understand this argument. She finds the Kia less intuitive but also says that the M3 wasn't very intuitive in the beginning but purely because she drove it a lot it's become very natural. That's called muscle memory... If she would drive the EV6 for a prolonged amount of time it would also be more intuitive for her. Weird argument against the KIA I must say...

I also felt like Kia had a disadvantage because the reviewers hadn’t lived with it like they had the Tesla. I watched another reviewer and they said they got used to and really liked the Kia interface after driving it a week

I’ve driven a M3 for 4 years and I still hate that the windshield wipers aren’t a button. Still not intuitive… always have to look at the screen - not a great option when rain is requiring eyes on road. One of the reasons I’m considering switching to Kia - along with four wheel drive and more room in back seat.

@@marleneroseboom7369 couldn't agree more. I used to work at Tesla so I've driven every model except the Y. The earlier Model S and X where never such a big problem for me to be honest, also in part because you have a screen right in front of you. I honestly didn't like the Model 3 at all because it went overboard as a gimmick in my opinion. I personally drive a Kia E-Niro and my parents drive an EV6. That EV6 4 wheel drive GT line is by far the best car I've ever driven. If you have the possibility I'd definitely recommend getting it 😉

@@stijnhs I’m curious about charging. I live in Canada and superchargers are becoming more ubiquitous. How does that work for the EV6?
@stijnhs
@stijnhs 2 жыл бұрын
@@marleneroseboom7369 interesting question, and my honest answer would be: I don't know. I'm from the Netherlands myself and my country has been a very early adapter of electric driving. That in combination with the high population density means that charging infrastructure is already in a very mature phase here. Canada on the other hand is such a vast county that charging infrastructure just can't really be on the same level. Where Tesla has superchargers other companies still mostly rely on 3rd party providers of long distance fast charging. From just a quick search I found the website Chargehub on which you can search for charging stations in North America and filter if you only want fast chargers. I'll be honest, I only use fast charging on holidays here and just plan out my route with stops in advance. It's not as easy as the Tesla system where it calculates for you but I've never encountered issues. Here most gas stations along the highway have multiple fast chargers and even Tesla superchargers are about to open to non Tesla cars. I'd recommend just checking which providers are most common in your area and request their charging cards.

Great video thanks. From considerable personal experience of both EV6, and Tesla M3, long term Tesla fan, and Kia owner. Here are some findings: 1. EV6 is bigger, mainly wider. It makes it a bit more challenging to navigate the smaller UK roads, parking, and width restrictions 2 EV6 ride, comfort, and noise levels are better. Rear leg comfort much better. Fit and finish is near perfect. 3. EV6 is easier to switch to for those coming from ICE cars with traditional design dashboards/instruments 4. M3 is technically more advanced, more driving assist potential, and over the air updates, but Kia may catch up with Nvidia drive 5. M3 Long range may have slightly more range, but not much in it. The EV6 will of course rapid charge over 200KW/h where supported 6. M3 feels brighter and less claustrophobic compared to the all black interior of the UK spec GTLine/S ..(come on Kia UK.. get us a lighter interior or at least a light roof lining) 7. the 7 year warranty of the EV6 wins hands down, along with the huge and brilliantly helpful Kia dealership

For the accumulator and the drivetrain there are 8 years of warranty or (192.000 Km) at the Tesla. These are the most important parts of the car. And my biggest problem with the KIA EV6 AWD is thirsty 26 + KW/100km at 120 km/H while Tesla model 3, 18 KW/100km at 120 Km/H. But I still don't know which one should I pick. :)

While I appreciate what Tesla has done for the auto industry, I don’t like the guppy-looking styling of the Model 3 or Y. The EV6 is so much sharper and exciting-looking than the Tesla. All the points you make are quite valid, but I’ve owned an Optima for 10 years and you can’t beat Kia’s build-quality and warranty, let alone sporty styling. I also hate the lack of gauges, in front of the steering wheel and Kia has the amazing heads-up display and safety features that go with it. There’s also the lane-changing screens that pop up when you turn the blinker on, which you didn’t even mention. Other little things not mentioned the EV6 has over the 3 are the coat hooks, built into the backs of the front seats (all you mentioned was the plastic), the sliding cover on the rear seat armrest cup holder, allowing versatility, or the fact the rear vents are mounted on the B pillars, for better airflow, like luxury German cars. I’ve had a Fisker Ocean reserved for over a year, and once the EV6 was revealed, I started leaning toward it instead. After all of the reviews I’ve been watching about it for months, including both of yours and especially from Inside EV News and Out of Spec Reviews, I’m pretty firmly ready to stay with Kia and go with the EV6, when it hits the U.S. in 2022!

It's a looker, that's for sure. And I agree with the looks of the Tesla's but then, the reason they look like that is to be more streamline, to have less drag, to get more range. Having driven a few of the new EV's, I have to say that the Tesla M3LR is the most engaging to drive, and downright crazy at times. All the other EV's are boring in comparison, the closest that came to that was the Jaguar I-pace 400. The Jag also had the best interior, but I could never justify the price tag, or the fact it's software is TERRIBLE. I also driven in the Ioniq 5 and EV6 and the interior for both of these wasn't great - it wasn't bad don't get me wrong, but the plastics inside felt wrong. The best way I can describe this, is think of Tesla as the iPhone back in 2008 compared with the nokia's and sony's of the day. Although I think Tesla as a company is FAR in excess of apple, they move SO fast when it comes to updates, both physical and virtual - some new iterations can come as fast as within 3 hours. No other car company currently comes close to this. Now this may not have much bearing on your choice right now, as it seems your mind is made up. But when it comes to the future, you will find your EV6 will have depreciated far more than a Tesla. And should that company go bankrupt... and honestly, it isn't out of the question for any legacy auto right now, then you'll not find much good about it for the future at all(i do feel kia/hyundai have about the best chance of surviving this onslaught, but who knows?). There is only one thing i'd change about the 3's and Y's, is adding a small hud like the jag and ev6 has. Other than that, they are borderline perfect.

I think a lot of people like the kind of cars that ICE allowed. I get that and like those cars as well. But i wonder if the compromises required taking a legacy design and adapting it to EV will work well. Teslas are designed ground up to work with batteries and they have invested a huge amount in technology and autonomy. That they have been able to do it all and deliver a compelling design at a good price after fuel savings is revolutionizing the industry. Until battery technology evolves, I wonder if many people will stick with ICE cars and the features they are used to rather than the new "Iphone". Hybrids are another possibility. I don't think the industry expected Tesla to produce in the 3/Y cars that are so compelling relative to current cars, but not everyone wants to go in a new direction and ICE/Hybrid may be the way for awhile for them.

i read comments in this video. and a lot of people have already said many additional things about EV6. I believe that EV6 is objectively much better than Tesla. And besides, it would be more correct to compare not Tesla model 3, but Tesla model Y. Model Y is already more expensive than EV6 + arguments in favor of Tesla that it has autopilot function, they forgot to mention that you need to pay 10K $ that it will be working by 100%. which significantly increases Tesla in value. Additional functions of EV6: HUD up display; full-fledged 220v socket inside the car; the rear row of seats folds into a full-fledged sofa, which allows you to use the car for camping; V2L system; salon imbilight; smart air conditioning system (the car itself closes the windows if it thinks that the outside air is dirty); Meridian speaker system 14 speakers + subwoofer; security system for closing windows (if something prevents the glass from closing); system of comfortable position of the front seats in the recumbent state; ventilation of the front seats (which Tesla Model 3 doesn't have) and maybe I forgot something else 🤔 I own EV6 for 2 months now, I can assure you this is a great car. At the moment, this is the best choice in accordance with price / quality / function 👍

Just don't be fooled by the ludacris 360 mile range claim. Tesla's are known to over promise and drastically undeliver in the range department while Kia's and Hyundai's have been pretty much spot on in their range estimates. If range is an issue for you just understand that Tesla's have been known to come up short by as much as 90 miles. For whatever reason the range estimates they use are tied to conditions that are not attainable in 99% of driving scenarios. Of course you should choose whatever car fits your needs but I feel it's truly unfortunate that Tesla's have been allowed to be sold using such crazy promises when they never deliver.

I liked the Tesla, it has fantastic performance, great battery tech and range, but after driving both the EV6 was the better of the two for me. And for not a lot of compromise on battery efficiency and for everyday use performance either. It is more refined and built around the driver, it just does most thing better. Having test-driven everything in the 77KwH battery arena we short-listed the EV6 (GT-Line S, which we’d ordered at a Kia unveiling event) & the M3LR. 2 hour test in the EV6 and we grinned, half-hour test in a M3LR and we laughed insanely, then another 2-hour test in the EV6 & we yawned. So we collect our M3LR on 14th Dec. It was a very close decision for us to be fair, as there are pros & cons to each. Neither is “better” in an absolute sense, but depending on YOUR personal use case, one might be more suitable than the other for YOU. Tesla’s are almost always sold on range and charger network but its gives a very false impression. It sounds good for sound bites on videos but in reality 84% of EV drivers have a home charger and very, very few do more that 150-200 miles in a single day. So when you factor in phantom loss (amount of charge lost while the car isn’t in use), a vast majority are charged every day at home, making those 2 selling points insignificant

(3) Vehicle hardware improvements at the factory level happen in real-time, not every 3-4 years like traditional car makers, e.g. Octovalve, new cell chemistry etc This influenced which make of car I ordered. And why should new factories produce better products wen the original factor(y/ies) haven't exactly been stellar? And new approaches have a tendency to blow up in your face, even when you have decades of experience. When your experience is limited to having the highest worker accident rates in the industry and the worst fit/finish performance in the sector, those "new approaches" don't convince very much. When you take into account Elon Musk's history of promises to workers, production deadlines and those much needed improvements to fit/finish and quality control, it is amazing that anybody could POSSIBLY believe that all these things are likely to result in significant improvements. When all the evidence points in one direction, but a comment ignores all the evidence to claim that an alternative is the more probable result, I tend to believe that a the poster is brainwashed b the poster is a fanboi. Nice video, and thanks as most reviewers would as people have said pitch the EV6 against the model Y. So this was useful to me. I am giving back my Model 3 Performance to the lease company next week, as I'm moving job. I've had it 18 months and have loved it (mostly).The car developed a suspension arm ball joint squeak recently and it's so loud and intrusive - not what you expect from a car of this price range. Apparently it's a common fault on earlier cars (mine was March 2020). I had booked it into my nearest Tesla Service Centre (110 miles away) to be fixed - but a week later Tesla cancelled my booking as they are 'so busy'. On a previous visit to the Service Centre (MK) they kerbed an alloy, which I spotted (they didn't) and they agreed to replace. So all in all - Tesla service isn't their strong suit in my experience. The auto wipers are an annoyance - common winge. The lack of mini dash display behind the steering is also a small disappointment. The lack of actual buttons for common functions like heating controls is frustrating, although the voice commands work pretty well. The paintwork has suffered quite a few stone chips in just 14K miles, and the wheel arches behind the wheels suffer badly. The driving experience is superb though, great handling, reasonable ride, excellent speed and economy - I have managed 290 miles when keeping my max speed closer to 65 mph on the return leg. Winter though this pre-heat pump model might only do 200 real word. I'm weighing up the EV6 - I like the longer warranty, better and more widespread dealer network, better quality feel and more standard layout with a hatchback. It's probably bigger than I want though - already kerbed my alloys in a multi-story, don't need a wider car. Kia is a bit heavier and probably a bit less engaging to drive (haven't tried one yet). I like the design style and Kias reliability and efficiency record. I'm also considering the BMW i4, if it's affordable. The Tesla was my first EV - maybe I've been spoilt by it, but I'm definitely sold on the EV concept.

I’ve tested both and I can say that the Tesla is more fun and the Kia more comfortable and spacious. The Kia is a bigger car, or at least feels like it. Tesla has the autopilot ace card, but when I tried it, it is just a more fancier cruise control, that only works under ideal situations. My biggest gripe with the tesla was trying to buy it. 3 times, I kid you not. In all situations, the deal was done with the bank, and then Elon Musk tweeted something during the night and the price would go up by a couple of a thousands, or the warranty would be slashed in half. A much larger "crossover" vs. a smallish sedan. EV6 is in the Model Y category, not Model 3. Sometimes cars are popular for a particular span of time then they're less popular. So, good for Tesla, for now. I'm not sure they have competition in their segment. I don't think the Polestar 2 is, it's an electrified hybrid platform so it is less efficient. I find it more premium. China, I think has a Model 3 competitor in the Xpeng P7. But that's not sold in much of the west. I like the EV6 interior and exterior but interior is more important to me. Just why piano black, Kia? Change that surface and it is an outstanding interior. I also would like it lighter. The Tesla, I'm fine with the clean exterior. I don't like the interior. I don't like the space feeling like a stark office module with a center floating tablet. Bottom line is, however good and efficient Tesla is, I'm not a tech head. I want a car that feels like it has some attention to design, detail and aesthetics. But more importantly, I want it to be well finished and well built. I just don't love Tesla's quality control. I don't find them to feel that solid over bumps and overall. That takes them off my interest list and I prefer almost anything over them. I think there was a clear intention to benefit Tesla (or harm Kia...?), as Kia offers a new design, full of personality, it is a car in the truest sense of the word, versus Tesla, which presents an outdated design with nothing appealing about it. But where the bias is clear is that they don't talk about the KIA's better construction quality and finishes in terms of the cabin, while the Tesla loses a lot of points there. They say that the plastics in the Kia's trunk are weak? What about Tesla's, at the level of the entire car? And as if that wasn't enough, Kia offers a much superior experience, from the moment of purchase to after-sales assistance, with Tesla being several points below in these areas. No less important, for those who prioritize their privacy, the Tesla's internal cameras with image communication to the brand's servers about everything that happens in the car, completely remove it. Aren't these important points to mention? I think some people think that having a Tesla is like having an iPhone with wheels, and since the iPhone is the fashion phenomenon that it is, the Tesla benefits from that effect. Speaking of integration, why didn't they say that Tesla doesn't allow Apple Car Play or Android Auto, and Kia does? A good and honest review should have taken all these factors into account, and not been so obvious where they wanted the result to lean in the end. Ultimately, anyone who is in the market to buy an electric car in this segment should try out both cars first, and even other options, weigh up all the arguments, and only then decide. Tesla has its value, it was a pioneer in several aspects, but car manufacturers, established decades ago, are already surpassing them in several aspects, and that would always be inevitable. Everything that is fashionable today will eventually cease to be so.

Not much of a surprise that Electrifying would choose the Tesla, they seem to be enamored with the vehicle for some reason, while my admittedly subjective opinion is that most of them resemble a bloated catfish (all but the Roadster which is beautiful). I feel that I need to speak up about how poorly Tesla's mileage claims have actually worked out to be in reality. While Kia has been very much spot on with their EV range promises, even topping estimates, throughout their model lines, Tesla has a horrendous history of over promising and drastically undelivering when it comes to range. At some point EV reviewers NEED TO STOP spouting the party line by simply quoting what Tesla or government range standards promise and actually do their own real world range testing because systems like WLTP and the US EPA EV testing certifications are horrendously specific in the conditions that must be met in order to achieve the numbers that are quoted. Why these systems allow for such specific conditions to be used in order to paint the producer in the best light is beyond me. Perhaps at one point in time it was done in order to encourage consumers to make the switch but now that we are invested in the tech we need real information in order to make informed choices on where to spend our hard-earned money as an EV is not a cheap purchase. This is not a well-kept secret as Teslas have been shown to provide up to 90 miles less range than promised when using the rather generous WLTP measuring system. These numbers are simply not attainable in 99% of driving scenarios. If anyone can show me examples of these range estimates being obtained in real world use please, PLEASE provide links to posted KZbin videos of Model 3s reaching 360 miles because I need to learn their tricks for hypermiling. For those who would like honest information about EV range I suggest watching the Out of Spec Reviews channel which does do extensive battery and range testing as it would be a far better resource for people investigating whether to purchase a Tesla or not. He is a car enthusiast, both electric and internal combustion, and is a long time Tesla owner. I believe his current Model 3 has over 100,000 miles on it so he would be a good resource for people wondering about Tesla reliability (Spoiler Alert: He thinks they are wonderfully reliable). Even though it is based out of the USA the information, level of technical know how, the in depth testing (which can honestly be somewhat boring if you are not an EV nerd) and the honest approach to any vehicle they review is a breath of fresh air. Yes I rather like the Kia EV6 and it's sister car the Hyundai Ioniq but I also find the Lucid Air to be a thing of beauty, along with several others. I am rather enjoying the prospect of being a car enthusiast again. For a bit I was worried that my love of the automobile would be lessened once the roaring sound of an engine was taken away. I am happy to find that this is not yet completely true.

@@bidonga Of course and I wasn't suggesting the Lucid Air as a suitable choice between the two vehicles shown as it is squarely placed itself in the luxury vehicle class. If you read my comment I was simply stating what vehicles I like in the EV space right now. It was an attempt to preempt any commenter who might believe that I am biased toward any particular EV maker or overzealous Tesla fan who might believe that I am a Tesla hater. In the past comments I have made regarding my frustration with their mileage claims have earned me more than a few angry responses from lovers of the brand so I may be a bit defensive as a result. I don't hate Tesla's at all, in fact I have always loved both the Roadster and the Model S while I've always disliked the catfish like looks of the 3 and Y. My largest issue lie with the absurd mileage claims and the unwillingness of the auto press to call the company out on them. It does a disservice to consumers like us particularly those who are new to EV's and are using reviewers like these to help guide their purchasing decisions. I apologize if I didn't make it more clear that my list was not a list of suggestions. There are many wonderful choices that have come to market and more on the way. I also forgot to mention the Mustang Mach E and VW ID4. The id4 is such a wonderful choice as far as value while admittedly not a sports car.

@@genesishep No worries. Just having a nice chat. As for range claims, I agree with you. I recently had the opportunity to drive the Volvo XC40 Recharge for a full day. Great Car. Great price. But... you'll only get the 400km of range they promise if you are driving in the city, at 30 km/h. Doing a normal day of mixed roads will only get you a real world range of 250km. I do believe Kia, Hyundai and Tesla are capable doing a bit better, because they are better suited (ground up EV's), more aerodynamic and overall more efficient. But I suspect it won't be very ahead. Now for the disagreeing part: VW ID4 is a missed opportunity. As design goes, I don't like it, but that's personal of course. But the Interior is so poor... It looks like a budget Car that costs twice as it should be. And the software glitches I'm seeing in the reviews... Very bad. They should have delayed that until they had it figured it out.
@genesishep
@genesishep 3 жыл бұрын
@@fernandorebelo4165 I don't think the ID4 is all that buggy by comparison. People tend to gloss over the numerous bugs that have been plaguing Tesla's over the entire span of their vehicle releases. When you think of the safety issues present in their FSD code alone to issues like the vehicles locking owners out of their vehicles due to computer server problems at Tesla (a problem that in my mind questions who actually owns a vehicle when a manufacturer glitch can remove access to a vehicle you've already paid for) then the bugs in the ID4 are miniscule by comparison yet the company's status as the flagship EV manufacturer affords it such unfair leniency. Something that should not be happening by reviewers. Especially when taking into consideration that I'm not speaking about bugs that were found ages ago and resolved these issues I'm speaking about were found in the month of November alone. Unfortunately the opinions of reviewers are subjective and 99% of their observations are so personally tainted that they aren't much help to consumers. The reality is nothing will be as helpful as personal experience with an automobile and short test drives will rarely reveal enough information for you to make an informed decision. I would still argue the ID4 is an exceptional value by comparison, bugs and all. Regarding range, several vehicle manufacturers are much more honest or even understated in their estimates. Kia, Hyundai and Ford tend to be right on the mark and Porches tends to under promise, over deliver while Tesla dramatically over promises and under delivers. With that bit of information in our hands consumers have a bit more knowledge when making a purchase decision however reviewers really need to stop pretending that the mileage promises Tesla makes are even close to being accurate.

I'm 6' 2" and hit my head getting in and out of the model 3. I also hit my head putting groceries in the trunk. The ride is a bit less rough on the roadway, better than my son's Chevy Bolt. Today we will check out Kia and make our own assessment. The good fact is we can sell our Model 3 today for what we paid for 8 months ago.

Any EV over £25 K is outside my pay-out range, so I'm waiting till 2022 and maybe 2023 if I pass my medical examination with flying colours. I’m still driving a IPace First Edition, and I’ll admit to having exactly that EV6 (red GT-Line) on order, but I’ve never belonged in the Tesla fan club (two of my brothers drive them, so I have driven and been driven in 3s ). Lazy design (scaled down S on a photocopier which makes the proportions odd), interior you either love or hate, it’s extremely noisy on the road (you can’t hear it if anyone in the front is taking to you in the back) and the build quality is as bad as only americans can make it. But, they are good at Software, battery control and efficiency, just not at making a desireable car.

Not sure where you are getting your pricing from. Entry level Model 3 is RWD @ £42K. That’s the one I bought. It now has a range of 305 miles and 0-60 at 5.8 secs. The EV6 is more hatchback than SUV so competes with the model 3. I’ve test driven both and the Tesla is way ahead. Finally, Tesla’s comprehensive OTA updates means great resale value.

I drove both and would decide on the Tesla...not because it is the more comfortable one or more versatile. I am considering buying it...and in 6-8 years I believe that the Kia design might be outdated, while Tesla might still have its fanbase and a design that might then still be taken positively. Personally, I feel the Kia is a great car but also the delivery times are somewhere between 9 to 12 months...also something to consider.

It would be nice if they tried to hide their blatant bias at least a little. The EV6 looks, is built, handles, and has a better warranty, and isn't as expensive when comparably equipped. Kia EVs are known to routinely exceed their official range ratings where Teslas struggle to meet, and often falls far short of theirs. Also, the lack of buttons/knobs for basic functions is enough to turn many away from Tesla.
