I had the original Panda, it was a brilliant little car: very essential, great flexibility, we did sleep in it (2 adults) and my dog loved it. I hated with a passion how they had remodelled it, making it a "normal" car. This is brilliant, it's a jewel of design, it's making older people admire how a wink to the past is translated into a modern desirable supermini.

This is exactly the sort of EV the market now needs. It's taken a while to get near the £20k barrier, but we're now seeing a few EV's at that price point. Plus it isn't perhaps the list price that matters so much, as the potential to lease cars like this for £150 per Month or less....and once the lease is up at 3 years old, it'll be available at sensible prices, which will help EV adoption no end.

Fun review. I think you nailed it by pointing out that a cheap, slow, ordinary £21k EV car can be stylish. For instance I can not think of anything at the very lowest end of the VW range that has this much in the way of style, and as Nicola points out Ford need to watch out. Ford used to be good at this too. Stellantis are being clever in offering the same or a similar platform with so many different skins and purposes. To take a near neighbour at a different price point you have the Alfa Romeo Junior, even without the Veloce version.

Electrical egineer here: 7kW cable is probably 3x6mm², which total of 18mm² of copper. What they could have done, is use custom cable, 2x4mm² (for 7kW single phase), 2x2.5mm² (for 3 phase 11kW) and 2.5mm² for ground. This is 15.5mm² of copper (which is thinner cable with less copper) and cable could conduct more power. Even if they used 3x4mm² (like Tesla UMC) for 7kW only, this would make the cable just slightly thicker.

I'm also very happy that they are sticking to "Normal & Reasonable" but not trying to "be a supercar". If these were available in Canada thiey'd absolutely be on my Short List (regardless of terribly minimal EV models avail here). Sadly we will NEVER see them as Stallantis has Zero Interest in North America for which I can't blame them one bit. The RAMS & Jeeps they put out now are serious crap with horrid reviews & ratings and mechanical nightmares to boot - Everything formerly "MOPAR" is now well tainted. They would actual;ly have to bring in FIAT, Citoen and those badges but the Yanks "will not have it for any reason" and Canada being "the good puppy" (maybe not anymore after tomorrow) forget it here... Funny thing though, Quebec being Seriously French & influenced accordingly are not as "Retentive & Butt Piuckered" towards Euro-Badges like everyone else.

It looks super cool, but the deal breaker for me is lack of one pedal driving. Nissan had this in 2017, it should be standard issue on all new EVs by now. Also a one second delay throttle response on an already slow car has removed what makes driving electric fun. It’ll just be software mapping to give it an extra 3 miles per charge if the power isn’t instant. Unforgivable. However, Nicol is always such a ray of sunshine when reviewing cars; it’s hard to stay annoyed for too long. Pandastic! 😂😂😂

What's the electric driving range?

Looks over-engineered in appearance and under-engineered in performance (acceleration, range, charging speed, handling). I guess that there's an audience for this kind of a car, but I'm sure that this Panda will be in a completely different price class than the original

Bring the Grande Panda to Australia, Stellantis! At that price, this thing will sell in the thousands.

It has been such a long wait for this Panda, and by the looks of it, it was worth the wait, I just love it! Looking forward to testing one, and hopefully purchasing- I agree on the Steelies - they look so more suited to this type of car. I wonder if I can get one in Luna Bronze with steel wheels? (the electric one)

Yes, you can. I think all colors are available for both versions.

Three cheers for the rear window wiper....small things can be so HUGE

Nicola - tipsy, or otherwise, your reviews are always entertaining! FIAT always made quirky small cars… but the Stellantis behemoth is in danger of ruining most, if not all, of its brands. 🙄 Like you, I think this new Panda is fun… but the electric model is too compromised - so the hybrid has to be the better option. Keep making watchable content. 👍🏼

"A total gamechanger". Really?? I watched the whole video of this 'Vauxhall Frontera' with different design tweaks. I can't fault the presentation, or the enthusiasm for the product, but anyone with a garden hose will know that that cable will not wind back into its holder after a few weeks. Other than that, neither the battery power, nor range, is game-changing, neither is the price, speed, handling nor practicality (not even door mirrors). So please let us know what is "a total gamechanger". Click bait!

It looks great, and great idea with the cable in the front. But it is a stellantis product, so the alarm clocks are ringing loudly

Love it, and the R5. Steelies are the way to go! They should do steelies as a option for all versions
