I have this pedal and it is amazing, honestly my favorite univibe I have played. That said, it is super picky on power supplies and I do not usually gig with it because I do not want to have to use a seperate wall wart. If EHX ever re released this to work on normal power supplies and made it like a normal size pedal, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

There are probably a hundred different univibe type pedals on the market and I never could figure out why the EXX Good Vibes Modulator isn't one of the most wildly popular out there. It is reasonable priced, and to my ear at least in these demos, this is a very authentic sounding unit. I think it is one of the most underrated pedals in production.. That Dave Gilmour tone was absolutely the money.

I believe the reason is two words Wall Wart. The Good Vibes is one of the few EHX pedals that seems to not run off any power supply that isn't the wall wart it comes with.

@@nicksimms3771 I've heard some people having issues using cheap power supplies that say 9v, but the power ends up being between 8-9v. If you look at an EHX power supply it will say 9.6v, not just 9v. I can't imagine having an issue with a decent power supply like a True Tone or Voodoo Lab

EHX was there as an affordable effect manufacturer decades before we got Boss and Ibanez and ... the cool Hendrix ++ era and now the bring back this spirit with a new classic univibe with modern improvements like the switchable control pedal parameter. Photo cells? How does that work?

So basically, the photocell is a a photoresistor which when light is detected, the resistance increases. There is a light set up in the circuit to oscillate and that in turn is what "controls" the photoresistor. This is what creates the oscillating effect in the pedal.

Then you should buy the Nuvibe by Korg. Designed by the same man who designed the original Shin Ei Univibe. Sounds exactly like the original. Nothing comes even remarkably close.

Anyone know a good pedalboard power supply that this works on? I use a Voodoo Lab Power Plus 2 but there's no tone that comes out. I've tried other single supplys but it seems to only work with the single stock EHX supply. Any suggestions?

I have the pedal and LOVE it!! But...I get a volume and tone drop when in the chain with a wah. Is it not compatible with my Vox chrome wah? Can someone test it? Or maybe I have a bummed out pedal and need EHX to look at it. Thanks eh!

Get a volume booster, or a buffer. Or maybe you need better cables. Or maybe it's your amp. Or maybe you don't have your chain set up right as far as what should be going in what order.

I found out what it was. might have been a combo of things but. It was a faulty cord and now using the power adapter it comes with. Instead of the One Spot power chain. Thanks! Its a killer pedal. Jimi comes out every time!
