Watch this on 2x speed if u can :) GO GO GO! btw, I left off the salt bridge in my diagrams discussing the standard hydrogen electrode since I was focussing on that half cell only, but you need to include the salt bridge between the beakers in every single cell diagram.

Thanks so much for this video it's so helpful! Just one Q, at 1:24:36, why is written NO3-/NO? Isn't the NO the more oxidised form so shouldn't it be written as NO/NO3-? Thanks again for all you help, a literal life saver
@easymodeexams33
@easymodeexams33 2 ай бұрын
Its the specific thing that is oxidised/reduced, which happens to be 'N'. The 'O' remains the same ox state at 2-, but N changes from +5 to +2. So +5 is more oxidised, so goes first

25:15 why did you write CuSO4 in the diagram but Cu2+ in the cell notation ?? :)
@divinexjoy
@divinexjoy Жыл бұрын
Because if you slipt the ions in CuSO4, you will get Cu2+ and (SO4)2-. Let me know if that makes sense
@easymodeexams33
@easymodeexams33 Жыл бұрын
CuSO4 would be the full reagent, in case you need to name it in the exam, but the ion we are concerned with is the Cu2+ only (same for Zn2+ and other metals), we pretty much don't care about the SO42-

no because it says the product formed was NO, which is a nitrogen oxide seen in the table; NO3 is nitrate and has 3 oxygens bonded to a nitrogen and NO^3- is one nitrogen bonded w one oxygen w an overall 3- charge
