Today I went cycling with pros. I only brought water because Im a beginner. Had three cramps. Somehow my brain told me to stop at a near by convenience store and buy Gatorade. This thing is a healing potion. Still happy I finished a 100km ride. Didn't realize how much the body needed this until today.

I strongly suggest diluting Gatorade by a good 70% - to - 80% with water. Far more beneficial when done this way.

Actually no, diluting gatorade will reduce it’s effectiveness, you need the carbs and sugars in it for rehydration. Either drink water or gatorade, it won’t do as much good if it’s mixed

Best video on KZbin that properly explains the science behind hydration and ATP conversion. I’ve always performed well with Gatorade, great for hangovers as well! So many people afraid of sugar, artificial colors, etc. but don’t mind cramping or becoming fatigued because they only drink water. Once our planet becomes pristine again, I’ll worry about food colorings.

Sports drinks are a scam, they do not contain sufficient amounts ANY electrolytes. Sports drinks are marketing, they do not have any significant effect on performance minus a small insulin boost due to containing cheap forms of sugar. You will be better off eating a banana or drinking some coconut water instead. Sports drinks also contain corn syrup or other cheap sugars which have been linked to an increased risk of obesity and diabetes. They also contain many other potentially harmful chemicals such as artificial colors and flavors which in my opinion you are better safe than sorry, if your body doesn’t need them you should probably avoid them.

Gatorade zero has some benefits over water in that it contains electrolytes but it also has artificial sweeteners. Most research shows artificial sweeteners are pretty safe in general but there is evidence that they negatively impact your gut microbiome when consumed regularly. So personally I try to avoid anything with them

I can’t stand experts on videos. I just watched another video on how you shouldn’t have Gatorade because you’ll get diabetes or die. Calories in vs calories out Doesn’t matter if it’s from chicken, or cake Calories in vs calories out controls your weight, period. You may not have the best internal health if you only eat sugars but you will lose weight just eating cake if you’re under maintenance. Gatorade is fine if you’re tired during a workout , you won’t die And Gatorade is 80 calories in 12 ounces. How is that ruining your treadmill? If I run on a treadmill and burn 600 calories, you’re telling me the 80 for Gatorade is a deal breaker?

I come from Asia. We have 40+ degree celsius for three months in summers. My workout is intense (two muscle games which makes one set, in succession) with 6-7 muscle games for one body part, this takes about one hour. Then I perform 15-20 minutes of cardio. Thats something someone who isn't comfortable with their shirt off would ask. Start exercising more and eating right, and you can join the shirt off club. I've made positive changes and lost 20 pounds the last 3 months and I noticed I like to walk around the house shirtless too. Not where I want yet but its a start. Its great! Nothing wrong feeling proud/positive. Lets spread it.
