this girl has one of the most intriguing musical minds i've seen, they way she talks about sounds and stuff like she has her own language for it and she crearly understands it meanwhile im like, wht do you mean by "kukuchuku kukuchuku "mao. love her music tho, i dont usually follow the artist's personal life, i listen to what they produce and i know them based on their songs, but i click everytime i see an interview of her cause she is interesting to listen to

She was made for these times....and her music is like a breath of fresh air. I'm a pretty accomplished musician, I write my own songs, and I'm really into bands(like Tool) that are at the pinnacle of musicianship and creative talent. But Grimes is easily the most interesting new artist I've come across in years. I felt the same way the first time I heard MIA over a decade ago. I find it ridiculous how some people dismiss Grimes/Claire as an over-hyped musical novice. It's dismissive of her very real talent. Sure, she can't rip out some wanky Steve Vai solo....but so what? Hey Grimes interesting interview from you about your music and the instruments you use including Roli and I didn't find your last album had too many guitars, however I know what you mean as I cannot listen to the sound of a guitar unless it has been put through some sort of sampler/keyboard or other type of machine, and as a teen in 1989 when everyone I knew was listening to metal music I was listening to the band 'Max Q' by Melbourne musician Ollie Olsen and the late great Michael 'Hutch' Hutchence (if you haven't already heard check out on KZbin by 'Max Q' the music videos for their songs "Way Of The World" and "Sometimes") and I spent most nights watching on a daily basis the true story film "Dogs In Space" also starring the late great Michael 'Hutch' Hutchence about a household of Melbourne musicians in the post-punk scene where back then they had to make all their own homemade keyboards, samplers and drum machines (check out the film "Dogs In Space" if you haven't already seen it yet as it was the main reason I left school, dropped out of home and moved to Melbourne and when I first did I made a mission to the house that they lived in then they made the film in and as a memento I took home a little piece of concrete from the house which I still keep, and there is also a really good documentary about the film and the post-punk Melbourne music scene called "We're Livin' On Dog Food" which is also worth watching, and I was fortunate enough to end up working for the State at the library with one of the band members from the band 'Primitive Calculators' from the film and I highly recommend checking out their song which is probably the most anti-sex song about sex called "Pumping Ugly Muscle" in the "Dogs In Space" cut from the film of the song on KZbin), and then in 1992 I bought my first sampler which used a floppy disk, as I am inspired by the music producer Alan Moulder who back then in 1992 he mixed and produced a lot of good electronic music mixed with guitars like the band 'Curve' (and if you haven't already heard the band 'Curve' check out their music videos for their songs "Horror Head" and "Unreadable Communication" and "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus" on KZbin), and besides 'Curve' and their intense mix of electronic music mixed with guitars that are put through so many machines they no longer sound like guitars at all thankfully, Alan Moulder also mixed and produced in 1992 'The Jesus And Mary Chain' amazing album "Honey's Dead" (check out if you haven't already seen it yet their wicked music video for their song "Reverence" on KZbin), and also Grimes it is interesting what you stated about being intrigued about the concept of using electromagnetic impulses to shut down the electricity as it is a terrifying concept and when I first moved to Melbourne I spent three years studying a degree at university here in Melbourne with Damascus University in Syria back then being my exchange university for my degree in "Religion" (studying all religions but specialising in Islam), "Art History" (studying all art history from palaeolithic art to postmodern art but specialising in art and politics) and "Strategic Studies" (which is military studies where I focused on specialising in the field of psychological warfare) however back then there was also a speciality field available in "Strategic Studies" to study called 'cyberwar' but back then before 9-11 and the internet at the time to me it seemed slightly farfetched, however now it is obviously a reality and a major global issue and a threat and globally governments are now drawing up legislation to use nuclear weapons to retaliate against cyber attacks on their infrastructure, and there is a really good Vice documentary on cyberwar and also on that subject I highly recommend watching the documentary called "Hacking The Infrastructure" and Grimes regarding your interest in the effects of electromagnetic impulses I also highly recommend checking out the album called "Soft Ash" by Melbourne musician Darrin Verhagen as it is an electronic album that is about using electronic music to solve environmental problems and issues including even nuclear fallout, and finally Grimes I am looking forward to your next album and also your next tour to Melbourne, from Adam
