In her exclusive interview for Hunger TV Grimes talks never performing in front of her friends, the 'vapid' fashion industry, her admiration for artists such as Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga, and how she 'engineered' her own stardom as the brand, 'GRIMES' ..
A native of Vancouver, Grimes began recording experimental music while attending McGill University in Montréal, where she became involved with the underground electronic and industrial music scene.

I think when people are saying that she is arrogant, conceited, or too self involved, I think this is an unfair criticism. She has said previously that she is naturally introverted and struggles with explaining herself in a public speaking format. Therefore her thoughts are clogged by nervousness, and thus the things she says do not represent what she actually thinks. Additionally, introverted people may feel the need to re-emphasize their ability because they are aware of the awkwardness, and thus exaggeration is the only way to make oneself appear "normal". I think she is stellar cool, I do miss her pastel hair but I would love to hang out with her. She's great in my opinion.

Grimes is unique and beautiful. there is no other artist like her. she is a true musician. I think that Grimes is severely misunderstood. This happens to creative people a lot of the time because verbal communication is something that must be practiced. A lack of social interaction and locking yourself away to concentrate on your art can make it difficult to find the proper words to explain things. Solitude also allows your mind to wander off to places it can't when you're surrounded by people and from a societal point of view, it can easily come across as delusion, but maybe its enlightenment. And the reality is the more REAL friends you have and the more time you spend with people, the more you lose that creativity. It's a sad situation but sometimes artists have to make that compromise. I like Grimes and I personally think she actually doesn't realise her value. The life of an artist is sadly not always an elegant one. :(

I think she's amazing. Her music is out of this world. Nothing else like it. Artistic people are definitely misunderstood and considered weird. I've been one of those people. Nothing wrong with being different. People think she's weird because her music is actually good and most people are used to the awful stuff we have today that focuses on sex, partying and nothing but negativity. Not saying all music is like that today, but most artists just want to sell records and that's it. Grimes has sooooo much talent and it needs to be truly recognized. I'm surprised at the amount criticism of her.... It seems like she's just sitting there talking about herself, but they purposely deleted the interviewer's questions and conversation, and so it's giving this impression that she just wants to talk about herself whereas she is just answering the questions (we don't hear). She's creative, and she has figured out a way to live her life expressing herself. I think it's amazing.

recent news that the artist GRIMES has signed to Jay-Z's management company Roc Nation. The specifics of Grimes' deal with Roc Nation are not yet known, but other artists who have management deals with the company include Rihanna, Haim and Timbaland. Now, Grimes has suggested that her new album will come out on "September 9, 2014". I can tell she’s socially awkward and introverted, the way she talks during this interview reminds me of myself when I try to talk to new people or more than one person, I start talking too fast or too slow, everything gets jumbled and I fidget a lot and can’t make eye contact. It’s easier to draw my feelings and thoughts than to talk in person.
