Your videos are so useful and you really explain it so well that any person with little or no experience can understand and follow. Thank you so much, I am loving your videos.

This is a good idea and has potential to be improved. Congrats.

You can use a simple analog comparator and a resistor network to detect when the gas sensor's voltage goes above a certain point, without any code!

I thought about this same project but just using a Pedal to activate the fan when needed.

My soldering fume extractor should turn on only if it detects fumes in the air, and turn off when the air is clean. That's exactly what I'm trying to do in my latest video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3qafKiQd6aUf68

ElectronFun.com , I was surprised at the speed that the sensor detects the smoke. Excellent video. Well planned, well presented, very concise. I would have subscribed, but I'm already a subscriber :-)

Hari Wiguna Thank you so much Hari :) The sensor reacts pretty quickly, but it sometimes detects fumes falsely - it's just a prototype. Currently I'm trying to find a way to calibrate the sensor basing on the datasheet. I hope it will eliminate this problem.

A button to turn it on first would be practical, that way you don't have to wait for it to first detect fumes. And instead it uses the detection of smoke to keep running.

tuva600 My final device will probably have a turn on button.

Hi This is a great start to the project and I want to build it. I'm eger to see the final version so that I can make up a PCB, any chance of finishing this project? Keep up the great work, I'm loving it.
@ElectronFunCom8 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot John! There is a chance of finishing this project, but I will probably change it quite a bit. I'm still getting some comments saying that running multiple fans in series won't give you any good. Some people claim that air flow will not change and they are right. What they usually don't know is that static pressure will increase. However, I want to redesign this project.

would a mosfet bdw93c and a ne555p chip work for this project?
@ElectronFunCom8 жыл бұрын
How would you like to use BDW93C with a precision timer NE555P?
@lilfear8 жыл бұрын
I guess I should have looked up that chip first...I found it in my arduino box. a precision timer would not work at all. I do have other chips (that are not timers) but they have more pins than the 8 would they work if i can dig out the datasheet for them to find the right pins?
@ElectronFunCom8 жыл бұрын
You simply need a microcontroller for this project. It doesn't have to be an Atmel chip.

Where is part 3?
@ElectronFunCom8 жыл бұрын
There is no part 3 for now. Quite a few people criticized this second part for the foam instead of a carbon filter and they were right. There was also a debate about putting fans in series. Before I prepare part 3 I need to redesign the whole thing a bit, but now I'm working on something else. However, I will go back to this project.
