@lakcampa Fetal scalp sampling, where the scalp is scratched and blood taken for pH analysis, is no longer recommended. But stimulation to observe heart rate change is still done, at least according to my OB colleagues here in Florida.
@teuliano12 жыл бұрын
yes, response to acoustic or scalp stimulation suggests fetal pH >7.2. In part has replaced fetal scalp sampling

Wonderful video!! I am a childbirth educator and doula and this was very informative. It got me thinking about something I was just reading. Have you heard of acoustic stimulation? Using a tuning fork instrument and stimulating the abdomen close to baby's head to get a similar response as scalp stimulation. I wonder as a non-medical person if it could be an early test or alternative to more invasive procedures or drugs? Thanks again!!!

They did one of these on me said my little Jayden was healthy when he was born turns out he had passed three weeks prior and they were getting my heart rate
@teuliano6 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry! That can happen, but shouldn't with the new monitors with stickers that collect the fetal ECG b/c it collects maternal ECG at the same time and it would be noted they are identical.
