Currently comparing one of these to a maxon rotary phaser ph-350. It’s good. I still think the maxon has something in the top end I prefer and just a little extra magic. I know the maxon is technically a rotary phaser but it’s also a photocell unit and on faster settings it is very similar. The maxon just has a little more goodness. Another pedal that does the fast thing well is the Diamond Tremolo (also has photo cell) . I have yet to play a Strymon Lex, and I own Volante and Deco. I do think if any modern company can nail the photocell sound it’s Strymon so I look forward to playing one. All these photocell based phase/uni type pedals have a lot of similarities in tone and feel. It’s down to minor aspects of voicings etc. It does sound similar to Dark Side Uni sound( though I think Bjornes overall tone and attention to detail in his gear/rig and very in-depth study of how to play it also has something to do with that) Overall it’s a cool pedal but I’m not sure I would rank it above some other Uni style pedals I have heard and played. But it’s solid and good. As always YMMV

I'd rather go for a phaser to cover both UniVibe and phaser. A UniVibe doesn't do phaser tones that well.

It's definitely one of my favourites. It has a very warm and creamy sound and the symertry control allow you to tailor the tone to your pickups and amp. Check out the Vibe Machine from DryBell as well. The MkIII sounds really great.

If I want one pedal to cover all modulation for Gilmour tones, would I be better off getting this pedal or a phaser pedal?
@gilmourishofficial6 жыл бұрын
I don't think you can have just one pedal that does it all because David used pretty much everything and for certain periods - flanger, chorus, phaser and UniVibe. Now, phaser and UniVibe is somewhat overlapping and so is flanger and chorus but you probably want to check out a multi unit that can cover all four sounds.
@GuitarsAndSynths6 жыл бұрын
Thanks right now I have delay and fuzz covered so will look into phaser and flanger pedals since I am learning songs from WYWH, Animals and the Wall and not the older stuff.

Very nice tone! Do you prefer this one or the Drybell Vibe Machine? The Moon Vibe seems a little bit darker while thr Vibe Machibe seems brighter but also has a sound more like a phaser than an univibe (maybe because of my computer speakers)... The tone sounds good. The suggestion to Nail Gilmour's sound a little bit more play less notes and use more hand or finger vibrato. He's not that busy and he's more soulful kind of like BB King's tone. He says a lot with fewer notes. And uses his Grammy bar a lot but subtly not trying to be critical helpful
